An opportunity to play your part

We have an exciting opportunity for a Mobile Application Engineer (React Native) to develop and maintain the mobile app and supporting APIs for Hive Connected Homes. You can expect to work across the full range of our supported products, including Hive Active Heating, Lighting, EV Charging, Sensors & Plugs, and associated subscriptions and services.

Overview

British Gas Business (BGB) is the leading provider of energy to SMEs in the UK and is focused on helping its customers energising a greener, fairer future.

As the Go to Market Manager at BGB Energy Supply, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of our commercial and business targets. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and maintain a robust Go to Market (GTM) roadmap, bringing products and commercial programs to market and ensuring their ongoing success. We are seeking a talented AWS backend Developer to join a cross functional team in Digital Technology Services, a core function that provides engineering services to the rest of Centrica. Accountabilities

As an AWS backend Developer within the Integration Engineering Team, you will build and drive engineering solutions and best practices across Centrica's Integration platforms and other internal platforms managed by the team. You will be heavily involved in designing, building, and managing End to End solutions across a variety of platforms including AWS, Azure, and Salesforce.

The team primarily uses Typescript, with our services deployed to AWS, though we use Java, Python and Azure too. Platforms are hosted on either Serverless architectures or microservices hosted on Kubernetes. We use SQL as well as NoSQL databases within our platforms, Terraform for IaC and Datadog for monitoring.

The Integration Engineering team is part of a larger group of Product and Engineering community in DTS, alongside our development work there will be opportunities to:

• Work on innovation projects in hackathons both in Centrica and with our partners (AWS, Microsoft, Datadog etc.)

• Influence and define the technical strategy for your team and how it interacts with the rest of the platforms.

• Influence and drive specialist areas like Security, SRE, and Quality if you are passionate about that space

What we need from you

• Have experience building Typescript/Node.js backend applications

• Have experience building Serverless and Event Driven architectures on AWS

What will you be doing?
You'll be working as a Senior Credit & Debt Agent in an exciting and ground-breaking new role in our British Gas Residential Energy Division. Supporting and resolving customer enquiries and complaints across a range of our products. Increasing customer retention and loyalty by providing amazing service whilst maximising opportunities to grow our business with our British Gas Product range.

You will be part of a multiskilled team, working with our residential energy customers. You will have end to end management and accountability for resolving any type of contact you receive in this department, being in control of your own performance. No transfers to other teams, just one stop resolution in the palm of your customers' hands.

You will work with experts in a specialised area of your team, joining "gurus" within the department to solve pre-defined tasks on behalf of your customers, colleagues, and peers. Accountabilities

As a Software Engineer within the Integration Engineering Team, you will build and drive engineering solutions and best practices across Centrica's Integration platforms and other internal platforms managed by the team. You will be heavily involved in designing, building, and managing End to End solutions across a variety of platforms including AWS, Azure, and Salesforce.

The team primarily uses Typescript, with our services deployed to AWS, though we use Java, Python and Azure too. Platforms are hosted on either Serverless architectures or microservices hosted on Kubernetes. We use SQL as well as NoSQL databases within our platforms, Terraform for IaC and Datadog for monitoring.

The Integration Engineering team is part of a larger group of Product and Engineering community in DTS, alongside our development work there will be opportunities to:

• Work on innovation projects in hackathons both in Centrica and with our partners (AWS, Microsoft, Datadog etc.)

Hive is the UK's leading smart heating brand, holding over 50% market share of all smart thermostats sold in the UK. Now that the challenge of Net Zero is greater than ever, Hive has a crucial part to play in helping customers to reduce their carbon emissions and save them money in the process.

To achieve this goal, the Hive App is undergoing a significant redevelopment with the aim of revolutionising the way customers interact with our products and services to help them better manage their homes energy usage and live more sustainably.

We need a Product Owner to support the Hive App Product team for the redevelopment of Hive app and grow the Hive ecosystem as we transition our customers to a Net Zero future. You'll design, build, deliver and maintain connected experiences for the Net Zero line of business and our customers, to help them better manage their homes and live more sustainably.

Location: You can work at home/office; we have people working all over the UK but also a range of office locations.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement features and improvements for the Hive App that help our customers on their path to Net Zero

• Identify and propose opportunities, customer needs and use-cases for our products and services on the Hive App

• Perform qualitative and quantitative research to explore and validate feature concept and identify customer pain points to maintain a market leading experience for Hive products and services.

• Review the analytics of the Hive App and its products and identify opportunities to improve the CX and reduce customer pain points

• Lead the entire feature development lifecycle, starting from ideation, design, and development to analysis

• Work closely with Product Designers and Researchers to translate insights and ideas into a market-leading user experience.

• Collaborate closely with engineers to ensure the implementation of features that deliver the best possible user experience, incorporating usability and performance considerations

• Lead project delivery with support from operational teams to deliver a high-quality product and outstanding customer experience post purchase and throughout the in-life experience.

Experience + Skills

• 1+ years Product Management experience

• Worked within the mobile app space

Capabilities

• Demonstrated expertise in designing and developing app user experiences

• Proficient in user research and utilising analytics data

• Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills

• Experience of defining user stories, requirements, and acceptance criteria to define and scope new product features

• Experience of product backlog management and feature / ticket prioritisation

• Proficient in leveraging insights to drive data-driven product decisions and strategies
