B7 is a 16 bedded ward which has elective and emergency head and neck patients.

You will lead and manage the nursing team, in conjunction with the Matron. You must have good organisational and leadership skills and have a proven track record. Clinical Responsibilities:
The dental nurse will assist the surgeon with specialised programmes of care i.e. surgical and non-surgical interventions.

This post supports the breast and urological MDT’s at New Cross Hospital Wolverhampton and Russell’s Hall Hospital, Dudley

The post holder will see approximately 100 new Breast and 100 urological patients a year. Secretarial support, designated office space and appropriate IT equipment will be provided.

The post will be based at the New Cross Hospital and the patients will be seen in clinics at New Cross Hospital and will be treated at New Cross Hospital for radiotherapy and systemic treatments.

The successful candidate will be expected to work with professional colleagues and local managers to provide an Oncology service to Wolverhampton and Russells Hall hospitals. The principal duties of the post will include:

Provision of a Clinical Oncology service for breast and urological cancers for Wolverhampton and Russells Hall Hospital;

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional candidate to join the Trust as the Head of Contracting. The four acute Trusts in the Black Country (The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust and Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust) have recently agreed to the creation of a single contracting team who will manage all clinical service contracts on behalf of the Trusts. We are now looking for a Head of Contracting to lead this team. Reporting to the Deputy Chief Strategy Officer, this new post will manage a team of contract managers and officers to ensure that clinical services are appropriately contracted for.

Based at New Cross Hospital but working on behalf of all four Trusts, the post holder will provide subject matter expertise to a wider range of internal stakeholders as well as representing the Trust at contracting meetings with external stakeholders.

This is a senior role which would suit a candidate with contracting experience who has demonstrated their ability to forge relationships, manage people and act with diplomacy.

· To support the effective contractual management of a portfolio of Black Country Acute providers with the direction from Contracts Managers.

Assist the respective directorate(s) in achieving their statutory obligations via provision of training/briefings on health and safety, new systems of work, changes in operational practice and where required provide support to the trust Fire and Security officers with regard to risk assessment, local practice and monitoring of training provision for Conflict Resolution, Fire Awareness/Evacuation Equipment/Incident Officer etc

12. To be responsible for compiling/preparing training content. The delivery of such training (i.e. core specialist health and safety training). This will form a significant part of the role, complemented by excellent record keeping, ongoing availability of information and other related instruction and reporting.

13. Support the management team in the development and implementation of new and improved safer working practices that have been identified by the risk assessment and/or incident reporting process.

14. Provide support to respective directorate(s) for RIDDOR reportable incidents providing advice and guidance on the undertaking appropriate investigations and preparing formal reports based on investigative findings. The post holder will be responsible for reporting of RIDDOR incidents to theGSHoHSafter appropriate internal sign off.

15. The postholder will review the trends of health and safety incidents and follow up of these including sharps, slips, trips and falls, manual handling etc., to ensure they are appropriately managed.

16. Continually reinforce best practice on health, safety & wellbeing in accordance with Estate Regulation policies, procedures & team objectives that are driven by organisational challenges and statutory requirements.

17. Negotiate with line managers & departmental safety leads/representatives on new/revised working practices in clinical and non clinical departments in respect of reorganisation of work areas to improve matters of health, safety and welfare – all in accordance with knowledge and understanding of statutory requirements.

18. Be responsible for enhancing and improving the safety culture by undertaking projects, organising events and evaluating health and safety measures within the respective directorate(s).

19. To work effectively with Divisional Governance officers to ensure that health and safety risks, compliance and monitoring is liaised and linked in with local risk management processes and controls.

20. Prepare briefing notes, health and safety presentations and where necessary attend management team meetings to report health and safety performance. Routinely attend Health and safety Steering Group Meetings and visit departments to briefstaff on health and safety matters and inspect practice and arrangements in place.

21. Attend Directorate/Divisional Governance meetings as required.

22. Administer and support the Divisional Health and Safety meetings in a timely manner.

23. Coordinate and administrate the health and safety rep/officers forums.

24. Monitor directorates’ mandatory health and safety training compliance and inform managers of areas of concern.

The post holder will be required to undertake a leading role in a major research project in the areas of Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Bile Acid Diarrhoea and Colorectal Cancer. The role will be supported by the Royal Wolverhampton Gastroenterology Academic Unit led by Professor Matt Brookes and Professor Helen Steed. They will receive supervision from Dr Phil Harvey and Dr Aditi Kumar. The research project will be tailored to the interest of the successful applicant, but will entail a combination of project design, experimental work, data analysis and reporting the results in peer-reviewed journals.Collaboration with other academic teams in the UK along with the pharmaceutical industry is likely. As part of a clinical gastroenterology unit, a close interaction with clinician’s guarantees good exposure to clinical experience as part of a wider clinical unit.

This post offers an excellent opportunity to enhance research skills and clinical experience in a busy and innovative unit. Clinical service and development opportunities will be tailored to the needs of the successful candidate but is expected to focus on developing advanced skills in IBD. Opportunities include endoscopy training, Dye spray, capsule endoscopy and IBD clinics such as routine follow-up, joint obstetric and joint surgical clinics. Our unit is also a JAG Accredited National Training Centre for Endoscopy running around 30 training courses annually and is also a tertiary referral centre for complex endoscopic procedures. There is no on call work associated with this post.

Research time will be predominantly:

· planning/carrying out research in accordance with the project design and delegation of duties

· generating the results and interpreting their implications

· writing progress reports and preparing results for publication and dissemination via presentations and peer-reviewed journals

We are looking to appoint 3 Cellular Pathology Consultants to join our friendly, well-established team.

Applicants should have completed Specialist Training and be entered on the Specialist Register of the GMC, or have a CCT or equivalent date in Histopathology within 6 months of the date of interview.



The BCPS Cellular Pathology service is a fully consolidated service with the hub laboratory at Wolverhampton and Essential Service Laboratories (ESL) at the other sites. The only cellular pathology service provided at the ESLs is a frozen section facility. The combined surgical pathology workload for BCPS is anticipated to be approximately 92,000 surgical pathology requests per annum. The successful candidate will be based at the hub laboratory at the New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton, but will be responsible for all relevant cellular pathology material for the whole BCPS (from all 4 trusts).





The Black Country Pathology Service (BCPS) has been formed by four Trusts looking to collaborate to optimise the use of resources. These Trusts are: The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, (DGFT), The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, (RWT), Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust, (SWBH) and Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, (WHT).The BCPS provides a comprehensive pathology service to a population of approximately 1.76 million.

Applications are invited for a suitably qualified Consultant Cellular Pathologists to join the team of 31 consultants based at RWT. We are seeking colleagues who would like to work in our friendly department with shared responsibilities and special interests. The existing team of consultants have a close collaborative working relationship, meeting daily to discuss difficult cases and management matters.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES OF THE POST
• To provide and develop with Consultant colleagues, a comprehensive Histopathology / Cytopathology / Andrology / post mortem examination service for the Trust and to collaborate with colleagues in all disciplines including primary and tertiary care, where appropriate, to achieve an integrated service for patients.


• To develop such special skills and interests appropriate to the agreed overall development of the department.


• To provide specialist advice and skills training to colleagues from other disciplines as required for the optimum delivery of patient care.


• To develop and maintain collaborative relationships with medical colleagues in other specialities and participate in multidisciplinary meetings and other postgraduate meetings.


• To take joint responsibility for the professional supervision and development of training posts in the department.


• To demonstrate a firm involvement in Clinical Governance, Risk Management and Clinical Audit – this will include the development and maintenance of appropriate systems and practices to ensure continued safe clinical practice.


• To take part in medical audit and research as appropriate.


• To participate in the management of service within Cellular Pathology and where appropriate within BCPS.


• To develop and maintain good communications with General Medical (and Dental) Practitioners and appropriate outside agencies.




• To ensure own practice is up to date; this will include taking responsibility for own continued professional development and participating in the Trusts Performance Review.


• To participate in relevant Regional and National EQA Schemes.


• To participate in annual appraisals and Job Plan review.


• As a team member with the present Consultants to operate a system of cover for annual, study and professional leave.


• To deputise for absent colleagues, as far as is practicable.
