The Chief Deputy Clerk serves as the Second-in-Command to the Clerk of Court, with full supervisory and management responsibility for the office. The Chief Deputy Clerk is a senior-level management position that reports directly to the Clerk of the Court. In the absence of the Clerk, the incumbent assumes the functions and responsibilities of the Clerk. The Chief Deputy Clerk assists the Clerk in providing support to the judges of the Court of Appeals by overseeing and leading the court's extensive administrative and operational functions, including such areas as intake, records management, budgeting and finance, procurement, and human resources. The Chief Deputy Clerk also serves as the court's Security Officer and liaison with the media.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership, management, and supervision for all operations in the Clerk's Office.

The Office of Judicial Integrity (OJI) is seeking dedicated and professional Attorney Advisors to support OJI's mission and functions and to serve as Workplace Conduct Investigators. OJI provides workplace conduct policy and employment dispute resolution (EDR) expertise, guidance, and administrative support to Judicial Conference Committees, subcommittees, councils, advisory groups, and working groups. OJI develops programs and delivers training on workplace relations, investigations, workplace rights and protections, and EDR process topics. In addition to supporting the OJI's administrative, policy, and programmatic efforts, this position will also be responsible for conducting, tracking, monitoring, and reporting on independent workplace misconduct investigations.

The ideal candidate must have experience doing research, conducting investigations, handling sensitive material, and managing multiple and competing priorities; and have excellent verbal communication, writing, and time management skills.

The IT Security Officer performs professional work related to the management of information technology security policy, planning, development, implementation, training, and support for all court units within the district. The incumbent provides actionable advice to improve IT security and serves as a team lead to fulfill security objectives within the district.

Responsibilities

• Review, evaluate, and make recommendations on courts' technology security programs. Promote and support security services available throughout the district.

The Department of Administrative Services, Administrative Systems Office (ASO), is seeking a motivated and experienced Information Technology Specialist to fill the role of Solutions Architect within the Systems Execution Division, Systems Development Branch. This position will report directly to the Systems Development Branch Chief.

Court reporters are responsible for reporting court proceedings verbatim in court and in chambers, for producing requested transcripts, and for filing required transcripts electronically in CM/ECF with the Clerk of Court.

The Official Court Reporter performs duties and responsibilities which include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Performs court reporting services for judicial proceedings.

The AO is seeking a Chief of Staff in the Department of Administrative Services (DAS). The incumbent will report to the DAS Associate Director and assist them with the oversight of services that support the federal Judiciary, including budget, human resources, facilities, emergency management, continuous process improvement, support for Judicial Conference Committees and Advisory Councils, procurement and acquisitions, financial management, accounting, physical security, appropriations liaison and analysis, and administrative information technology systems.

DAS has 500 government employees that manage programs serving 26,000 judiciary staff and 3,740 active, senior, and retired judges. DAS oversees judiciary facilities and security programs, encompassing 375 courthouses and 800 facilities and serves as the liaison to General Services Administration, the Federal Protective Service, and US Marshals Service. DAS has budgetary and fiduciary responsibility for $10 billion in annual appropriations.

The duties of the Chief of Staff include, but are not limited to:

1. Managing internal communications, planning, and preparing timely messages (e.g., memos, alerts, video content, email) from the Associate Director to the department's managers and staff; coordinating meetings with the department's senior staff and Management Network; and preparing the agenda and talking points for the Associate Director.
2. Overseeing the processing and coordination of correspondence and documents requiring the Associate Director's review; reviewing communications products for content, style, and format; and providing the Associate Director a recommendation.

9. Participating in meetings of the AO Executive Management Group (EMG); providing advisory support to the EMG, including preparing analysis, developing policy recommendations, gathering decision support materials, and providing similar support.
10. Assisting the Associate Director in overseeing the department's role in supporting seven Judicial Conference Committees and six AO advisory bodies.
11. Serving on formal and informal teams and working groups to address emergent issues, such as lapses in appropriations, natural disasters, and unanticipated emergencies; serving on the Judiciary Emergency Response Team; and ensuring DAS offices are alerted and respond in a timely manner.
12. Serving as an advisor and resource for the department's senior staff on a wide range of issues, including questions regarding AO and Judiciary policies and processes, personnel issues, communications strategies, and resources.

• Under the guidance and direction of a Supervisory Officer, conduct investigations and prepare reports for the court with recommendations. Interview offenders/defendants and their families and collect background data from various sources. During process, interpret and apply policies and procedures, statutes, Federal Rules of Criminal Procedures, and U.S. Sentencing Guidelines, Monographs, and relevant case law, as applicable.
• Under the guidance and direction of a Supervisory Officer, enforce court-ordered supervision components and implement supervision strategies. Maintain personal contact with defendants and offenders, investigate employment, sources of income, lifestyle, and associates to assess risk and compliance. Address substance abuse, mental health, domestic violence, and similar problems and refer to appropriate specialist.
• Schedule and conduct drug use detection tests and DNA collection of offenders/defendants, following established procedures and protocols. Maintain paper and computerized records of test results. Maintain chain of custody of urinalysis testing materials. Respond to judicial officers' requests for information and advice. Testify in court as to the basis for factual findings and guideline applications, if warranted. Maintain detailed written records of case activity.
• Investigate and analyze financial documents and activities and take appropriate action. Interview victim(s) and provide victim impact statements to the court. Ensure compliance with Mandatory Victims Restitution Act.
• Under the guidance and direction of a Supervisory Probation Officer, review and resolve disputed issues involving defendants/offenders and present unresolved issues to the court for resolution. Assess offenders'/defendants' level of risk and develop a blend of strategies for controlling and correcting risk management.
• Provide offenders/defendants with information on local resources and programs regarding employment, GED certification assistance, ongoing education, and vocational training. Identify interests, aptitudes, and abilities of offenders/defendants through interviewing and gathering appropriate information. Assist offenders/defendants toward integration into the job market.
• Communicate with other organizations and personnel (such as the U.S. Parole Commission, Bureau of Prisons, law enforcement, treatment agencies, and attorneys) concerning offenders'/defendants' behavior and conditions of supervision. Identify and investigate violations and implement appropriate alternatives and sanctions. Discuss violations with Supervisory Probation Officer. Report violations of the conditions of supervision to the appropriate authorities. Prepare written reports of violation matters, and make recommendations for disposition. Testify at court or parole hearings. Conduct Parole Commission preliminary interviews.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Pretrial Service Support Technician provides technical support to Pretrial Services Officers by assisting with conducting investigations, compiling criminal histories, coordinating with collateral agencies, and performing similar duties under the guidance of a Pretrial Services Officer and/or Supervisory Pretrial Services Officer. Occasional travel is required. This position includes some telework with a minimum of one day a week in an office setting. Typical work hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Responsibilities

• Assist pretrial services officers in compiling criminal histories/profiles, running record checks through local and national databases and files, conducting inquiries with collateral agencies, collecting verifiable and supportable documentation, and performing similar activities. Enter data and information into the office's computerized database system.
• Prepare and process forms and documents, ensuring consistency and accuracy among court-supplied documents, officer reports, and related paperwork. Contact various local, state, and national law enforcement and regulatory agencies to collect and record information to assist with investigations. Obtain related records regarding offenders/defendants, following established practices and protocols. Prepare and update case files and reports, investigation, and supervision, at the direction of an officer and in accordance with established policies and practices. Format, type, and edits reports prepared by officers.
• Prepare routine correspondence, including but not limited to form letters, notices, reports, and associated correspondence using templates and forms. Maintain correspondence control records and track correspondence through internal databases. Update chronological entries as required.
• Maintain case records as required.
• Participate in and contribute to ongoing training programs.
• Provide administrative assistance to the Location Monitoring program.
• Assist with coordination of maintenance of official government vehicles.
• Perform other similar duties as assigned.
