S/he is responsible for the day-to-day operations ensuring patient and staff safety in compliance with VHA, VISN, and VAMHCS policies/procedures/nursing protocols, accepted best practices, and professional standards of care. S/he evaluates performance, provides annual competency training, and continuing education for direct reports. The Nurse Manager performs timecard certification, verifying staff schedules and hours worked. S/he practices fiscal responsibility within the budgetary guidelines. The Nurse Manager consults with and reports to the Chief Nurse of Ambulatory and Emergency Care Clinical Center.
