The Role and the Department

The Faculty of Arts & Humanities is looking to recruit a Grade 4 Learning and Teaching Administrator to join the Learning and Teaching team in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. As well as having responsibility for the Faculty's well-established Liberal Arts programme, the team is also responsible for the delivery of a suite of interdisciplinary postgraduate programmes some of which are delivered remotely, that launched in October 2024. As well as having responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of student-facing processes administered by the Faculty Office, the role will therefore be able to contribute to the development of new processes underpinning the delivery of these new programmes. The postholder will also be expected to provide an excellent staff and student experience as the first point of contact for enquiries relating to the Faculty's programmes and processes. The role will involve:

* Supporting key education processes, liaising with other team members as well as professional services colleagues in colleges, departments and central services.

* Under the direction of the L&T Manager and working with other members of the Faculty Learning and Teaching team, take responsibility for day-to-day support for the Faculty's Liberal Arts and Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Taught programmes, acting as a key point of contact for enquiries relating to admissions, induction, registration, progression, module and programme changes. The role requires using initiative to solve problems through liaison with other departments and services and escalating issues to more experienced team members where appropriate.

* Under the direction of the L&T Manager, and in collaboration with other members of the Faculty's Learning and Teaching team, taking responsibility for the administration of key student-facing processes within and across the Faculty. This aspect of the role will require excellent attention to detail, and the ability to communicate information clearly and concisely.

* Co-ordinating student-facing events, activities and resources relating to the programmes, including induction events and open days.

* Providing administrative support for Faculty Examination Boards, including inputting and checking student marks, preparing agendas and other supporting documentation, and ensuring that actions are recorded and followed up.

The Faculty Learning and Teaching Administrator will possess excellent organisational and time management skills, display a high degree of initiative and flexibility, and demonstrate a commitment to customer service excellence and collaborative working. The Faculty Office places a strong emphasis on inclusivity and collegiality, as well as professional development, and team members are encouraged and supported to identify and take forward process improvements and other initiatives in order to develop the key skills and competencies required for progression to more senior roles. Reporting to the Head of the Research Innovation and Enterprise Support (RIES) office, the Research Funding and Support Officer manages and supports all the administrative processes involved in identifying, applying to, securing and setting up external research funds. Acting as the main point of contact for key sponsors, researchers wishing to submit funding proposals and collaborating Institutions wishing to establish agreements, you will be expected to develop a sound working knowledge of the sponsors who support research within the University. Establishing effective professional working relationships with staff at all levels within the University as well as all relevant funding bodies will be essential to your success.

As a key member of the RIES team you will report to and work with the Head of Research Innovation and Enterprise Support to ensure accurate grant costings are created and submitted to the required deadlines and there is a smooth transition from pre- to post- award when applications are successful.

The Judicial Institute for Scotland have a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to join them as an Education and Learning Manager on a full time, fixed term basis for 9 months with the possibility of extension thereafter.

You will work closely with the Senior Education and Learning Manager to deliver on the educational strategy and the educational philosophy of the Judicial Institute. The Key Responsibilities include:

Provide a key support role to the course directors and Senior Education and Learning Manager in the course design process and preparing programme and course outlines for each course.

Actively champion the Judicial Institute educational philosophy and the Education Strategy, internally (with the team and senior managers) and externally (with course contributors), and support senior managers to implement them and to deliver on strategic goals.

Be responsible for preparing and testing all learning tools and activities and become a power user of a suite of learning technologies.

Be the lead onsite learning support for courses which includes:

*attendance, virtual or in person, at all courses assigned to you
in-course support for all the Learning Suite facilities and the course contributors themselves.

*on-the-day course schedule and materials management
liaison with on-the-day event management support as required.

You will be the central manager of course workflows and relationships by ensuring all roles are appropriately coordinated and course related matters are dealt with in a timely, flexible and efficient manner. This will involve working in complex, multilateral work dynamics including:

*supporting Course Directors and the Senior Education and Learning Manager in relation to course design and planning, delivery and evaluation;

This role works as part of the PGR Support team in the delivery of administration for postgraduate research programmes and related activities, within the Business School’s strategic objectives of high quality research programmes and an excellent student experience.

The role supports a variety of activities across postgraduate research administration, including admissions, course administration and programme support.

Your skills and attributes for success:

Good communication and interpersonal skills, both in writing and in person
An understanding and care for excellent customer service/student experience
Able to plan own activities and tasks, with well-developed organisational, time management and prioritisation skills
Resourcefulness with a proactive approach to seeking out information to ensure effective, accurate task completion
Experience working within systems, software packages and processes

We have a Driving Instructor Position available in Cardiff.

Part and Full Time positions available

Be able to explain driving techniques clearly.
