A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician to join our expanding and friendly pharmacy department on a 2-year fixed term training post. Learn while you earn!

As a Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician apprentice, you will undertake an approved Level 3 or level 4 qualification (dependant on knowledge provider). As the programme is delivered as an apprenticeship, you will be expected to spend time in the workplace and 20% off the job learning. This usually means one day a week for study and workplace training for the remaining 4 days a week learning professional knowledge, skills and completing required competencies.

On successful completion of this 2-year training programme you will be eligible to register with the pharmacy professional body, the General Pharmaceutical Council, and become a registered Pharmacy Technician.

Work based training will involve working alongside all different members of the pharmacy team to gain knowledge, skills and experience into the core areas of pharmacy practice, as well as the wider working of the KCHFT pharmacy team.

As a team we provide a wide range of pharmacy services including in the following areas:
• Community hospitals across Kent
• Supporting patients in their own-home
• Specialist Services, which includes specialist nursing, special schools, ADHD clinics, dental services and more.
• Sexual Health services
• Quality & Governance

You will also spend time with pharmacy services in other organisations to develop a broader knowledge and skill set. Are you an enthusiastic and motivated individual looking for a future career as a qualified Pharmacy Technician? This training post includes an apprenticeship and starts in February 2025 and will end 26th February 2027 and is at Colchester Hospital.

You need to meet the apprenticeship criteria and have a minimum of 4 GCSEs or equivalent at Grade 9–4 or A*-C (Maths, English and Chemistry or Biology).

You must be self-directed to meet deadlines, committed to self-study and effectively use study time given by the department to complete the course and be eligible to register with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician. The pharmacy is a busy department covering a diverse range of activities and functions including: dispensary, logistics, quality control, manufacture/preparation of medicines/products including chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition, clinical trials, ward based/clinical activities, medicines information and community services. We have an automated robotic dispensing and stock supply system. This course places emphasis on clinical ward based and dispensary work.

You will be required to participate in our 7 day service provision and will have a short placement at Ipswich hospital site to gain an understanding of pharmacy services provided by them.

Salary will be Band 4 Annex 21: Year 1 (£20,379) 70% top Band 4 and Year 2 (£21,835) 75% top Band 4. Internal applicants will be via Annex 30.

You will undertake a Certificate of Higher Education, in Pharmacy Technician Practice delivered by the School of Pharmacy at the University of East Anglia in Norwich. The course has a blended learning approach using e-learning, classroom tutorials, practical sessions and portfolio building. There will be on-going assessments, observations with mandatory study days and forums.

This course places emphasis on clinical ward based and dispensary work. You will communicate and work effectively with patients, ward based teams and multi-disciplinary staff to provide a safe, timely and efficient patient-centred service aiding supply, patient compliance and discharges. The course also includes Accredited Checking, Medicines Management and Medicines Reconciliation.

Band 5 Sexual Health Nurse

Job overview

We have a fantastic opportunity for a full time band 5 Sexual Health Nurse to join our team in our level 3 ALL EAST sexual health service, providing integrated sexual health. We are looking for a motivated and dynamic nurse who wish to pursue an exciting career in sexual and reproductive healthcare.

The post will be primarily based at the Ambrose King Centre at the Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel.

Main duties of the job

The Sexual Health Nurse post will provide training to enable the successful candidate to provide care for patients with sexual health and contraceptive needs, delivering treatments and vaccinations that have been prescribed or through the use of Patient Group Directions (PGDs). This will include the provision of HIV Pre Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and subdermal implant contraception. Training will also be provided in microscopy.

The post-holder will work within the NHS Talking Therapies service providing high intensity interventions whilst undertaking a programme of training for this role. This intensive training post will equip the post holder to provide a cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) service to clients with a range of complex problems for which CBT is demonstrated to be clinically effective. The post holder will work in the service for three days of the week using the newly developed skills whilst attending the training programme for the other two days. The post holder will work flexibility within the operating hours of the service, and progress to Band 7 upon successful completion of the course and application is made for accreditation with the BABCP. Main Duties and Responsibilities 1. CLINICAL 1.1. Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service 1.2. Assess clients suitability for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and follow the relevant pathways, if not appropriate 1.3. Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the services referral protocols, and refer clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary. 1.4. Formulate, implement and evaluate therapy programmes for clients. 1.5. Educate and involve family members and others in treatment, conveying CBT formulations with sensitivity in easily understood language. 1.6. Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the number of client contacts offered, and clinical sessions carried out per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient. 1.7. Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate. 1.8. Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service. 1.9. Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols 1.10. Work closely with other members of the team ensuring appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach. 1.11. Assess and integrate issues surrounding work and employment into the overall therapy process 2. TRAINING AND SUPERVISION 2.1. Attend and fulfil all the requirements of the training element of the post. 2.2. Apply learning form the training programme in practice 2.3. Receive supervision from educational providers in relation to course work to meet the required standards. 3. PROFESSIONAL 3.1. Ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to the employer and any regulating, professional and accrediting bodies (eg BPS, UKCP, BABCP), and keep up to date on new recommendations/guidelines set by the department of health (e.g NHS plan, National Service Framework, National Institute for Clinical Excellence). 3.2. Ensure that client confidentiality is protected at all times. 3.3. Be aware of, and keep up to date with advances in the spheres of CBT 3.4. Ensure clear professional objectives are identified, discussed and reviewed with senior therapists on a regular basis as part of continuing professional development. 3.5. Attend clinical/managerial supervision on a regular basis as agreed with Manager. 3.6. Participate in individual performance review and respond to agreed objectives. 3.7. Keep all records in relation to Continued Professional Development up-to-date and ensure Personal Development Plans contains specialist knowledge of the latest theoretical developments. 3.8. Attend relevant conferences / workshops in line with identified professional objectives. 3.9. Be involved in the positive promotion of NHS Talking Therapies to other services and the local community, taking ownership of the services success by monitoring their own performance. 4. GENERAL 4.1. To contribute to the development of best practice within the service. 4.2. To maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and procedures in relation to Mental Health and Primary Care Services. 4.3.
