Improvement and Monitoring The post holder will be expected to trouble-shoot and diagnose faults on the complex equipment The post holder, will be responsible for ensuring that all equipment and processes are maintained in a validated state, reporting deficiencies to their manager. The post holder will be responsible for the calibration, validation of critical test kits and equipment The post holder may be requested to prepare Operating Procedures The post holder will be expected to follow all policies/procedures and SOPs identified as a requirement of their job role. This will involve reading and understanding relevant polices and being trained to SOPs. The post holder will be expected to support and participate in the production of peer reviewed publications, including posters, abstracts and presentations. Communications The post holder will be required to demonstrate effective communication and team working skills with colleagues in their own team/department, staff in other departments of the WBS and external customers. Examples of this will include the taking and passing on of accurate messages to person(s) who need to know, providing information when requested, participating fully within the team. The post holder will be required to communicate both verbally and in written format with internal colleagues and external customer hospitals as directed by the Head of Quality Assurance Laboratory to ensure the service requirements are met. Clinical and Scientific The post holder will be required to perform specialist technical and scientific procedures in the four sections of the Quality Assurance Laboratory. The post holder will be required to possess a BSc Hons in Biomedical Sciences or other honours degree approved by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). The post holder must be a registered BMS with the HCPC. If registration qualification has been achieved through the IBMS Registration Portfolio the post holder will be required to complete or have attained the IBMS specialist portfolio in Transfusion Science and GMP as a pre-requisite for a specialist BMS post. This typically requires at least 2 years post graduate study to diploma level. The post holder will be required to participate in the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) The post holder is required to have a thorough working knowledge of the requirements of external regulatory requirements to which the WBS must comply. These will include MHRA/BSQR, UKAS. The post holder will be required to have a thorough understanding of the principles of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and its role in WBS quality systems. The post holder will be required to demonstrate an awareness of all relevant guidelines to which the WBS must adhere. These will include UK Guidelines for Transfusion Services (Red Book), Council of Europe Guidelines, and relevant BSH Guidelines. The post holder will be responsible for the preparation of samples and testing on specialised automated equipment. Interpret diagnostic test results and refer any out of control or abnormal results to the senior staff within Quality Assurance Laboratory for subsequent referral onto the medical staff of FBC results that may indicate the need for a clinical referral. Ensures that all specialist equipment is maintained in a calibrated state by the use of appropriate control and reference samples, thus ensuring that any patient results or quality monitoring samples can be reliably reported. Finance and Budget Responsible for the safe use of expensive and highly complex equipment, Responsible for maintaining stocks of disposable and recyclable items and ordering from stores to agreed financial limits. Maintenance of adequate stock levels of both in-house prepared and commercial reagents. Assist with evaluation and validation of equipment and processes being introduced at the Welsh Blood Service (WBS). Assist Section Leaders in the maintenance of chemical and reagent stock and ensure safe disposal of samples and waste. Assist in the management of COSHH. Management, Leadership and/or Training The post holder will be required to prioritise their own work and the work of their colleagues once they have been deemed competent to do so. Examples of this will include the prioritisation of routine work against research activities, or the prioritisation of calibration activities that are scheduled against validation activities following the failure of GMP critical equipment. The post holder will be expected on occasions to work and report autonomously within defined laboratory procedures e.g. CD34+ and on-call Digital and Information Assist the HOD or section leader in the collection of quality control data for Statistical Process Control/Monitoring and enter test results onto the appropriate computer software packages to maintain and improve the Quality Systems. Identify any problems and initiate appropriate agreed corrective action. Job Spec:

Monitor control and generate Key Performance Indicators on the repair loop quality and performance. Update and KPI the repair reports database. Implement and maintain a closer link between the train performance and the repaired materials. Control that the outgoing materials have a clear failure description attached and a serial number. Control and challenge the suppliers on the quality of the repair reports that they provide and ensure that the scope of the repairs meet the required needs. Monitor and flag endangering consumption trends. Quarantine and return to good stock materials based on work orders data and data generated by the trains (i.e. defect codes). Analyze and close non conformance of materials previously repaired. Schedule on-train testing of parts if required.

Functions:
* Control and challenge the failure description of outgoing materials and the information in the repair reports from OEMs
* Work reports and train data checks to review defective components (quarantine and return to good stock materials. Est: 10% of the volume)
* Link between performance and materials: Monitor materials involved in performance incidents.
* Schedule on-train testing if required
* Monitor Consumption Trends (USD reduction proactive approach)
* Root cause analysis and rectification for NCMs
* Update and KPI the repair report database.

SUMMARY: This location is part of our Prepared Foods Division and manufactures bacon! The Food Safety Quality Assurance General Manager is responsible for the daily management of all activities of the FSQA department to include food safety programs specification adherence and product quality for products within their assigned facility. In addition, the FSQA Manager will oversee all special projects as assigned, departmental budgets, turnover and safety.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Production Oversight:

• Manage daily production practices, including the reception of raw materials.
• Ensure pre-operational and operational sanitation standards are met.

Quality Assurance:

• Oversee finished product quality and Food Safety Systems.
• Implement and enforce Tyson FSQA policies and procedures.
• Monitor verification and documentation for compliance with government regulations.

Program Development:

• Develop, implement, and maintain HACCP, HARPC, SOP, GMP, and SSOP programs.

Product Conformity:

• Ensure finished products align with customer specifications and label requirements.
• Report product issues and audit results to relevant stakeholders.

Customer Interaction:

• Interact with customers and their agents for product showings, plant tours, and audits.
• Address initial product runs and respond to quality-related customer complaints.

Microbiological Monitoring:

• Monitor microbiological results and conduct bacterial swabs.
• Generate shelf-life environmental graphs.

Research and Development:

• Conduct research and development activities to enhance food safety and quality.

Team Management:

• Select, train, and manage FSQA Supervisors and Technicians.
• Facilitate both Food Safety and Foreign Material teams at the plant.

Audit Management:

• Complete required internal, regulatory, and customer audits.

Inventory Control:

• Manage Hold Release inventories at the plant level in SAP.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Education: Requires broad knowledge in general professional or technical field. This knowledge is normally acquired through a bachelor s degree in an academic field directly related and essential to the job.
• Experience: Minimum 3 years of prior industry experience to fully grasp regulatory, production and manufacturing concepts preferred.  Experience with FDA and USDA regulated products.  SAP Experience a plus. 
• Computer Skills:  Standard computer skills required; generating spreadsheets and developing templates for use by plant management and corporate FSQA, sales and operations.
• Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills required, both written and verbal, demonstrating the proven ability to correspond with all levels - line team members to corporate management.
• Special Skills: Must have good problem identification and problem-solving skills. Must be able to work independently yet interact with many different facets within the organization and be the plant liaison to USDA.  HACCP Certified, PCQI Certified and SQF Certified preferred.
• Supervisory: Manage crewing labor and attendance of the FSQA department.
• Travel: 3-5 plus trips per year.

Cyber Security Assurance Manager

We have a brand new role for a Cyber Assurance Manager to join our growing Cyber Competency Centre, providing Thales UK business units with Cyber Security expertise.

Reporting to the UK Head of Cyber and the assigned domain Technical Director for the assurance of through-life cybersecurity engineering activities relating to products and solutions within the domain:

Key responsibilities:

• Participating in key technical reviews for all bids and projects within the scope of their assignment.
• Verifying that cybersecurity risks have been identified, assessed and managed within bids and projects in agreement with the delegated authorities for engineering security risk approval in Thales UK.
• Reviewing the principle security artefacts and security deliverables (as defined within the Cybersecurity Management Plan) and advising the security practitioners on the artefact’s completeness and fitness for purpose.
• Maintaining sector based specific knowledge in their area of responsibility.
   
• Overseeing the continued (cyber) assurance activities of products and solutions within the scope of their assignment. This should include all relevant phases of DDQS and in-service assurance.
• Articulating the cybersecurity risks of products and solutions, and the assessment of potential/proposed risk management options.
• Supporting the cybersecurity assurance aspects of product policy and road mapping
• Supporting Business Unit leadership’s cybersecurity transformation, including general cybersecurity upskilling and knowledge transfer within domain
• Assist customers in the routine development of Operational Technology (OT) security practices

Location: Can be flexible on Base location (Reading, Crawley, Bristol, Ebbw Vale, Cheadle, Doncaster, Home Start) ; Circa. 40% remote but will need to be flexible to travel around the numerous Thales & Customer facilities/locations.

The role will require the Engineer to proactively follow up / through on the non-conformances to ensure they have a thorough investigation detailing root-cause and then ensuring that the corrective action identified are in place and effective.
