BW Packaging, the packaging machinery arm of Barry-Wehmiller, is a $700-plus million business with more than 2,400 team members in eight countries and more than 25 manufacturing locations around the world. Position Description:
This role works with the Global Supply Chain leader on Enterprise strategy and leads the BW Packaging Global Supply Chain team in to improve supply chain performance, reduce parts and material costs, and enhance processes and practices in partnership with the BW Global Supply Chain team across the Platform:
- Drive business process improvements and system enhancements for greater control, operating efficiencies, and best practices across the Platform.
- Lead, coach, and develop team members towards better supply chain processes, performance metrics, and business analytics for the Platform.
- Partner with the Group President, Global Supply Chain Leader, and Division leaders to deploy strategic and operational initiatives for the Platform, primarily in the areas of cost improvement and product/parts standardization.
- View performance and improvement initiatives through the broader Platform lens to support resourcing opportunities and leveraging the Divisions to effect decisions and results.
- Reinforce and enable Division performance, standardized processes and practices, and consistent application of policies.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
Lead deployment of Enterprise strategy into the domestic and international purchasing, sourcing, and logistics functions within divisions with the following responsibilities:
- Leadership – Deploy the transformation strategies as set by the Global BW Supply Chain leader through structural design, process improvements, and systems application to support more effective and efficient supply chain for the Platform. Drive supply chain strategies and teams across Divisions and functions that support global business strategies for growth and performance improvement.
- Supplier Relationship Management – Oversee supplier relationship management and contract negotiations, while closely aligning with B-W Enterprise Supply Chain leadership. Identify and develop supplier relationships with key suppliers based on ongoing business needs as well as strategic Platform goals. Work closely with suppliers and division leadership to identify opportunities for innovation and set strategies to deliver.
- Platform Initiatives – Help prioritize and lead supply chain opportunities initiated by the collective team. Lead teams and direct initiatives to optimize business processes, implement shared services, enhance usage of systems, leverage IT resources, and drive improved overall supply chain performance. Evaluate resources and skills across the Platform that can benefit the broader team on a specific task, new role, and/or mid-term Project by identifying and bringing the proper resources for prioritized work.
- Strategic Planning – Serve as a resource and sounding board that aligns the Visions, EVA Plans, Budgets, and performance of the Platform while identifying synergies and joint initiatives. Establish objectives for the supply chain function in conjunction with policies and procedures that impact day-to-day operations as well as the long-term strategic direction of the Platform.
- Budget – Partner with Enterprise supply chain, finance and operations leadership to create a comprehensive spend analysis framework and establish short and long-term supply chain budgets for the Platform. Oversee training and communication of supply chain data/tools to team members to ensure a unified approach to data consistency, terminology, and reporting accuracy. Identify cost reduction strategies through supplier relationship management, driving supply chain team member communication across divisions, leveraging data/tools, and establishing best-in-class sourcing strategies.

This role will provide direct leadership to a team of 4-6 group Supply Chain team members and have a strong dotted line connection to divisional supply chain leaders.
