The role
As a Vehicle Mechanic, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will help support our military customer in the maintenance and repair of a wide variety of vehicles.

Day-to-day, you'll carry out routine maintenance, mechanical and electrical repairs, and modifications on vehicles and small plant equipment held at Chatham Station.

• Carry out equipment and component serviceability inspections.
• Identify mechanical and electrical faults with vehicle and equipment components, assemblies and systems.
• Ensure all equipment maintenance and repairs are completed in accordance with Army Equipment Support Publications (AESP).
• Carry out road tests of vehicles, and functional testing of equipment sub-assemblies and systems.
• Identify replacement parts and assemblies using Military Information Systems
• Support the continuous improvement of the department and contribute towards the RSME contracts continuous improvement targets.

This position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time.

This role is full time 37 hours per week and is based on site at Chatham.

Qualifications for the Vehicle Mechanic

• Served a recognised apprenticeship in Automotive Engineering or served in HM Armed Forces as a Trade Class 1 Vehicle Mechanic (VM)

The role

As a Fleet Operative - Plant, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Primarily you'll operate Plant Equipment to maintain the plant training areas within the RSME Medway, in direct support to TQ in their delivery of the plant training. • Responsible for carrying out a high standard of Level 1 (User) maintenance (Before, During & After Use Checks) on a wide range of Military and Commercial pattern plant, haulage vehicles and trailers.
• Assist with the handover/takeover of plant between commercial provider and sub-contractor and carrying out Level 1 (User) inspections at handover.
• Transport eligible personnel and/or equipment to and from the appropriate training exercise or other entitled military duty and ensure their safe carriage
• Drive any one of the multi-disciplined vehicles

Essential experience of the Fleet Operative - Plant:

• Ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Customer focused with the ability to build positive working relationships
• Flexible approach to working hours; overtime may be a necessity, but not guaranteed. * Ability to work both as an individual and as part of a team.
• Basic computer literacy.

This role is Monday to Friday, fully based onsite.

Qualifications for the Fleet Operative - Plant:

• Full C License - G+H (Essential)
• Crane License - (Desirable)
