Job Summary:
To provide high-quality person-centred care to clients in their own homes, to encourage and assist them to live as independent a lifestyle as clients can. Ensure that we remain supportive and sensitive when delivering care and always treating clients with respect and dignity and ensure that clients are aware of their rights, choices, and options available to them. Tasks will vary from each client to the next as Caregivers will be following a person-centred care plan designed solely for the client.
Main Responsibilities
• To undertake all duties that are outlined in the client’s care plan.
• To maintain good communication and develop good working relationships.
• To adhere to Gain Care Limited Policies and Procedures.
• To travel to each client’s house as directed.
• To carry out personal care duties and caring tasks that are not the responsibility of a Nurse, but which could normally be expected to be undertaken by a member of the family.
• To encourage and motivate clients to maintain their independence within their limitations.
• To report to the Registered Manager on the condition of the client particularly any significant changes in the client’s behaviour needs or circumstances.
• To encourage to use special equipment provided and to assist clients, if authorised by the Registered Manager with the use of artificial limbs.
• To contact a Doctor, Emergency Services or make appointments with the client’s consent.
• To participate in the Departmental Code of Practice in relation to the administration of medication.
• To prepare and cook meals in the client’s home.
• To assist in the cleaning of the client’s home when required.
• To undertake domestic tasks to maintain a good quality of life which the client cannot carry out.
• To complete all administrative documents accurately.
• To attend meetings and report if necessary, on the condition of clients.
• To be able to work in a way that promotes the safety and well being of the vulnerable clients we look after.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Willing to work towards Care Certificate 1 within the first 12 weeks of starting work.
Willing to work towards Care Certificate Level 2
Achieved Care Certificate Level 1 in Health and Social Care
Specialist Care Training
Experience
Understanding of Health and Social Care and be willing to learn
Experience of working in care industry at least 6 months or more.
Experience of care looking after friends/family/neighbours
Working knowledge of the Domiciliary Care industry and Surrounding regulations and legislation including Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults, Mental Capacity Act 2005,
Understanding of Regulatory Body functions and requirements
