As a Facility Operations Specialist, you will perform the following duties:

• Develop and implement a proactive approach to critical project components reaching the end-of-life cycle or in danger of impending failure and oversee administrative activities related to inspections, surveys, alterations and repairs for the campus. Using technical data, anticipate potential failures and monitor scheduled/phased replacement of facility components.

Conduct quality assurance and oversight of operations and maintenance (O&M) contractor, ensuring timely and accurate completion of scheduled maintenance and customer generated work requests.

As a Physical Scientist, you will perform the following duties:

• Serve as technical expert for emerging technologies including sensors and unmanned system. Lead strategic planning for observing system. Provide management oversight of the Ocean Acidification Program (OAP) sponsored observing portfolio, performing scientific work of unusual difficulty, exercising independent judgment.

• Manage the planning and facilitation of various observing system logistical planning. Track and facilitate operations and data management for OAP's observing network including fixed, underway, and uncrewed program sponsored assets. Employ mastery scientific knowledge to analyze, synthesize, and report information to assess the program's ocean observing network.

• Lead and facilitate planning and coordination of regional ocean acidification research missions, including assisting Chief Scientist with securing country clearances and meeting logistical requirements involved in staging, execution, and de-staging operations. Function as a technical expert to represent OAP at various working groups related to ocean observing and data management. Conduct briefings to senior staff and facilitates and/or participates in OAP meetings, reviews, professional meetings with stakeholders, and other activities.

• Serve as designated program vessel coordinator and Office of Marine and Aviation Operations liaison to ensure timely and accurate submission of ship time requests in support of program mission requirements. Serve as escort for foreign nationals on research vessels. Use technical expertise to assess vessel and scientific needs for research missions. Support communications about at-sea operations and associated technology development. Act as the designated program liaison to the science team including with respect to Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment Prevention.

As a Meteorologist, you will perform the following duties:

• Integrate, with occasional assistance, forecast weather, water, and climate hazards with associated societal risks to produce and communicate life-saving impact-based warnings, advisories, outlooks and general forecasts, providing initial review of data to ensure accuracy, precision, and timeliness.
• Collect, assess, analyze, and integrate a complete set of meteorological, hydrological, and climatic data in order to provide forecasts of critical elements at global, synoptic, and increasingly finer meso-scale levels. Apply expertise, with occasional assistance, in the theory of weather, water and climate sciences including providing current knowledge of scientific and technological developments and delivering science-based and technology-based solutions to operational challenges.
• Assist in the collaboration and co-creation with colleagues while leveraging the talents of others to improve and optimize the day-to-day operational functions of the Center. Support the development, production and delivery of interpretive services by providing, with occasional assistance, most Impact Based Decision Support Services (IDSS) that include tailored products, specialized notifications, remote briefings, and/or on-site deployments to a set of core partners that share a role in public safety and protection of property.

These duties are described at the GS-09 level; the GS-05 & GS-07 are developmental leading to such performance. All positions are developmental to the full performance level (FPL) GS-12. Promotion from grade 11 to grade 12 will be based upon application of a competency model that identifies the knowledge, skills, and abilities required of all Meteorologists.

As a Supervisory Meteorologist, you will perform the following duties:

• Provides aviation weather warnings and forecasts to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), general aviation and commercial airline interests throughout the area served.
• Serves as the National Weather Service (NWS) chief aviation weather spokesperson within the area, charged with the lead role in planning the coordination of services and service changes with the FAA and NWS.
• Ensures the responsiveness and technical soundness of the Center Weather Services Unit (CWSU) programs and products.
