The University Hospitality Department provides catering to students, staff and external customers throughout the academic year and during the summer months. There are numerous outlets run by the Hospitality Department offering a range of food and drink options.

We have a vacancy for general Porter in in the hospitality department. This role will be supporting the food outlets in the west of campus. As a Kitchen Porter you will be responsible for delivering and receiving stock, maintaining excellent hygiene standards, operating dishwashers and carrying out daily cleaning of kitchen equipment, cutlery and crockery as well as setting up tables and furniture.

The successful candidate should work well within a team and have experience of working in a kitchen porter/general porter role and providing an excellent standard of customer service.

During term time the role is mainly Mon-Fri with occasional weekend requirements. During the summer there is an increased requirement for weekend and late evening shifts to be covered on a 5 out of 7 days per week contract (36.5 hours per week). The weekly shift pattern consists of straight shifts only, no split shifts.

Training and uniform are provided, and there are opportunities to develop in the role and seek promotion into supervisory roles.

What you’ll be doing
As the Commissioning Environment Compliance Lead, you will play a vital role in enhancing Environmental Safety performance by managing risks across the Commissioning program. You’ll establish meetings to plan and review environmental activities aligned with the HPC Safety Management System.

You will produce performance reports for the Head of Commissioning Authority, highlighting trends and recommending actions. Engaging with the team on environmental risks, you will support regulatory interfaces and maintain safety risk profiles. Collaborating closely with Health, Safety, and Environmental professionals, you’ll support emergency preparedness and effective Environmental Incident Management. Who you are

To thrive as the Commissioning Environment Compliance Lead, you should have a degree or equivalent experience in an Environmental or related discipline. With extensive experience in writing, implementing, and reviewing environmental specifications and risk assessments, you ensure adherence to best practices.

This is a brilliant opportunity to work as part of the MEH Alliance on the prestigious Hinkley Point C Nuclear project. The alliance work across the project to integrate and coordinate the delivery of all main Mechanical, Electrical, Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (MEH), cabling and associated support services. This innovative approach will help different contractors work as a single entity to deliver the complex installation of cabling and pipework in the power station's vast network of rooms.

The role

As a Welding Technical Coordinator, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Being part of the MEH Alliance working on Hinkley Point C is a chance to be involved in a major project with national significance.

Day-to-day, you'll be responsible for operating the site Welding Quality Management Systems, inputting welding data, generating and issue Weld Process Control Cards for site welding activities and contribute to the completion of site welding quality records.

• Operate and administer the WeldEye Welding Management System for the Project/ Contract site operations.
• Transfer all required data into WeldEye.
• Generate site specific weld process control cards in line with afore mentioned weld procedures.
• Create a TQS and Weld IDs
• Create Work Orders (generate WPCC/PWHT & NDE Requests)
• Feedback and maintain welding activities, results, and records.
• Maintain welding records, including document registers and dashboards
• Maintain work files containing the necessary documentation.
• Interact with all other departments associated with welding operations.
• This role is full time, thirty-seven hours per week, and is based on site at Hinkley Point C.

Essential experience of the Welding Technical Coordinator

• Proven track record in large scale Installation of complex, multi-discipline projects, in the nuclear or similar regulated sector, including major EPC projects.
• Experience of welding related activities, inspections (visual and NDT) and quality control.
• A positive 'can do' mentality.
• Demonstrates strong communication skills, liaising effectively with peers, team members and other functions.
• Able to demonstrate accountability for their own actions and take responsibility.

Qualifications for the Welding Technical Coordinator

• NVQ 2 or Equivalent
• CITB HS&E Test

You will be leading a team of Quantity Surveyors and Apprentices to commercially deliver services and Work Task Orders on site at Hinkley Point C from 'kick-off' meetings to final account.

Day-to-day, you'll responsible for monitoring and reporting, preparing cost advice, drafting contract communications including Early Warning Notices and Compensation Events, amongst assisting with audit and cost verification events; all integral towards driving commercial performance of various contracts within the scope of the Alliance.

• Provide commercial support on site to Multi-Disciplinary Teams
• Assist with the audit and cost verification activities including close out of Task Order of Defined Cost
• Prepare field change Cost Advice for the Area
• Ensuring compliant management of scope change; all Compensation Events (CEs) are validated and recorded in CEMAR.
• Review the weekly cost report from Power BI for responsible Task Orders and alert any discrepancies to Commercial Lead
• Support and foster a positive Nuclear Safety Culture (NSC)

This role is full time, thirty-seven hours per week, and is based at Hinkley Point C, near Bridgwater providing hybrid working arrangements with three days in the office/on site and two days working from home.

Essential experience of the Senior Quantity Surveyor

• Proven track record in large-scale projects, leading teams with a "can do" attitude preferably in the nuclear or similar regulated sector
• Working knowledge of NEC contracts and contract management software (CEMAR)
• Experienced in facilitating client audit of Defined Cost and providing record / cost verification
• Ability to make decisions within delegated authority and prioritise team workload
• Experience in working in a joint ventures/alliance environment is desirable

Qualifications for the Senior Quantity Surveyor

• Preferably educated to degree level in a relevant subject (e.g. RICS or construction management) or equivalent level qualification or relevant experience

We are looking for a Chef to join our catering team at HMP Ashfield, an adult male sex offender prison based in the village of Pucklechurch in South Gloucestershire.

This exciting opportunity is well suited to an experienced Chef who is looking for a role with no split shifts and enjoys working as part of a committed team. You will assist the Catering Manager in the delivery of catering services to the establishment and comply with all relevant Health & Safety and Food Safety Regulations, legislation and guidelines. You will prepare varied and healthy menus for residents to include special diets, special events and religious events, whilst also keeping abreast of trends and developments in the catering industry such as menus and consumer tastes.

Other key activities will include:


- Preparing food according to the menu & supervising prisoners, ensuring a safe and secure working environment.
- Ensuring the security and food safety of all foodstuffs, equipment and infrastructure is maintained during delivery, storage and distribution within the kitchen area.
- Recording and documenting all relevant paperwork to comply with food hygiene regulations, Health & Safety, HACCP and company policies.
- Performing random quality checks on service points before, during and after mealtimes.


What you’ll need to do the role

To carry out this role successfully, you must have good interpersonal & communication skills as well as the ability to think quickly and react to different situations. You will have good, working experience in catering within a large operation or a similar custodial environment and be physically capable of working long shifts. It is desirable that you have the following or willing to complete required training:


- City & Guilds 706/1 & 2 or equivalent NVQ or similar in Food preparation and Production
- Food Safety
- Level 3
- Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP)
- Level 3
- Awareness of Allergen Control within Catering – Level 2


Typically, you will work 4 days per week 6:30 – 17:30pm and 1 weekend per month on a rotational basis.
