What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?
- Experience using Linux Operating Systems.
- Knowledge of automation and orchestration technologies.
- Experience of hybrid cloud.
- Experience in a large scale organisation using source control management (SCM) tools such as Gitlab or Github.
- Experience using configuration and infrastructure management tooling such as Ansible and Terraform.
- Experience of working with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
You and your role
As an Automation Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the next generation of Ansible Automation Platform.
You will be building standardisation of service offerings for consumption. Identifying and automating toil where appropriate, and ensuring solutions are repeatable, scalable, resilient, and highly available.
Key activities include:
- Working collaboratively to develop and maintain a shared AAP (Ansible Automation Platform) solution in public cloud.
- Support and maintain shared tooling in our on-premise environment including Gitlab and AAP.
- Provide product on-boarding support to our end users and business units.
- Identify and implement optimal solutions for our tools and our end users, including monitoring and continuous improvement.
- Perform application patching and maintenance on all our products.

Location: You'll join us in one of our brilliant digital hubs in Blackpool or Newcastle whichever is most convenient for you.
Hybrid Working: We work a hybrid model - you'll spend some time working at home and some time collaborating face to face in a hub.
Pay: We offer competitive pay of up to £52,442.
Pension: You'll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%, worth over £11,000 per year.
Holidays: A generous leave package starting at 26 days rising to 31 days over time.
You can also take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi-time. You'll also get all the usual public holidays.
