These posts are part of an innovative and ongoing teaching initiative which seeks to professionalise clinical teaching, at the same time as allowing individuals to develop their own teaching skills and expertise in medical education. Suited to individuals with a keen interest in undergraduate teaching who wish to pursue a career in a teaching hospital.


The posts could be offered as a full time Clinical Teaching Fellow or a 50/50 post with varied roles and responsibilities in the established team structure. Which form an important arm of the clinical teaching staff of Warwick Medical School’s principal teaching hospital: the University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust.

The posts are aimed at Postgraduate Doctors of all training grades from post FY2 up to senior level Doctors in Training who wish to strengthen their educational credentials and gain additional teaching experience. Educational Responsibilities.

Appointees will be expected to contribute in the following areas:

• Responsible for delivering curriculum MB ChB across the 4 year Programme including the involvement in teaching, assessments pastoral care and quality assurance.
• Post holders are responsible for supporting the well-established Acute Block. This includes leading clinical simulation sessions and debrief, small group teaching and mentoring.
• Supporting the teaching within Phase 3 Specialty Clinical Placements (Musculoskeletal, Child Health, Women’s Health, Care of Surgical Patient and Care of Medical Patient) within individual fellow’s specialty areas.
• Supporting clinical simulation in delivering acute block simulation and opportunities in Postgraduate simulation training. There are additional simulation activities and projects available to a fellow with a particular interest in simulation, playing a key role in the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of simulation-based education.
• Delivering regular bedside teaching sessions.
• Assorted other educational activities which may vary according to the needs of the service. These will include organisation and participation in clinical exams, a revision course before finals, marking elective and other reports.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate should possess the ability to prioritize tasks, work effectively under pressure, and meet strict deadlines. They should be capable of working independently using their own initiative, while also being able to contribute as part of a team. Strong organizational skills are essential, along with excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office, including SAP. Additionally, knowledge of payroll administration would be advantageous.

Ensure you are up to date with all relevant national and local guidance, policy and procedures relating to data quality and patient data management. Develop and sustain an in-depth knowledge of the use of Cerner, the Trusts EPR system, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of functionality and use. Identify and correct data quality issues on the Trusts patient-based systems. Validate patients journeys ensuring the data quality is exceptional and accurate. Use the NHS Care Record Service to find and verify NHS numbers, addresses, postcodes, GPs etc. for all active patients and update accordingly. Support implementation of data quality solutions with the services including: Identify areas of good data quality practice in services. Share this good practice across the Trust.
