About the role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic, adaptable person keen to work as part of the mortuary team toassist in the provision of an efficient and smooth-running mortuary and post mortem service to the Trust and HM Coroner . The work will be based mainly in the mortuary but may may also involved limited work in the histology laboratory.

You will participate in receipt and release of the deceased, storage of personal effects, data entry for recording all deceased, administration tasks associated with receipt, release and post-mortems, telephone communication with a wide range of service users, sample handling, waste disposal, cleaning and other general mortuary duties.

Mortuary and laboratory tasks:
• Receipt and release of the deceased across three sites – John Radcliffe and Churchill hospitals in Oxford, and the Horton Hospital, Banbury
• Liaising with funeral directors, bereavement officers, coroner’s officers, pathologists and laboratory staff by telephone and email
• Participating in an on call service at the weekends to assist tissue services - identification of deceased with tissue services, moving deceased to post-mortem room for organ retrieval by tissue services
• Dispatch of biological samples to testing laboratories
• Scanning of paperwork (archival storage of patient request forms and for digital pathology)
• Filing of departmental slides, blocks and specimens to ensure regulatory compliance
• scanning of slides for digital pathology (histology slides converted to digital image for pathologists to make a diagnosis instead of using a microscope)

The successful candidates will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and have a positive professional approach to the work. The ability to use computers is critical for daily work to ensure correct mortuary and laboratory records are maintained

Essential requirements: GCSE grade A-C / 4-9 in English and Maths and similar grades in science highly desirable.

Desirable requirements: Car and clean driving licence, previous relevant experience is desirable but not essential, as all necessary training will be provided.

Our Nuffield Health The Manor Hospital are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Pharmacy Manager to join the team.

• Be responsible for leading, motivating and effectively managing the pharmacy team by providing excellent leadership.

• As the Antimicrobial Stewardship Lead, optimise the management of antimicrobials to minimise the occurrence of hospital acquired infections by ensuring pharmacy adherence to up to date policies, guidelines and systems of work. Undertake regular audit of this in conjunction with the IP nurse/nurse team.

• Ensuring the pharmacy team undertake daily ward rounds reconciling medication for new inpatients; counselling patients; managing PODs and checking for relevant allergies, adverse drug reactions and contra-indications to treatment, ensuring all medicines prescribed are clinically appropriate in line with national and/or local policies and guidelines etc.

• Assist and leading the team in facilitating timely and informed discharge of patients returning to primary care by dispensing, accuracy checking and clinically checking TTOs, counselling patients prior to discharge and in facilitating timely and informed discharge of patients returning to primary care.

• Lead on the implementation of medication safety alerts and drug recalls for the hospital working closely with the Director of Clinical Services.

• Implement and monitor DoH guidance on all aspects of controlled drugs use in the hospital and ensure the CD audit is completed quarterly.

• Ensure errors, complaints and incidents are managed in line with the Nuffield Health guidelines, specifically reporting these using the RADAR system and reviewing/investigating relevant RADAR reports relating to medicines.

To oversee and monitor the planned patients to make sure they are seen within local and national guidelines. The role involves conducting patient consultations addressing clinical, psychological and social needs under the supervision of the Lead Pancreas transplant nurse with clinician support. This may include clinics during the week and occasionally at weekends in outreach and referring centres as well as within OUH. The post holder also works within the wider Transplant Specialist Nurse team providing on call transplant recipient coordination 8am-8pm and at weekends (occasionally 24 hours) Specialist Nurses will: Work alongside the lead nurse in accepting patient referrals to agreed criteria and be identified as the key worker for an agreed patient/client caseload. Provide advice, education and support to patients, their carers and other health care professionals. Practice clinically in agreed care settings according to approved protocols or guidance. Contribute to the smooth running of the designated service. Work across departmental boundaries. We are looking for nurses with a proven ability to work in this demanding environment. You will need to be currently working in a critical care unit as either a Band 5 or Band 6. You need to be a dynamic and assertive Critical Care nurse capable of making decisions in relation to both Level 2 and Level 3 patients. You need to possess a relevant post registration course in either Critical Care or Neurosciences nursing. Ideally, you will have a degree, or be committed to obtaining one. You will need to be highly motivated, have good communication skills, posses evidence of teaching and mentoring of staff and experience of leadership within the clinical workplace is essential.

The successful candidate will work closely with their Band 7 team leader to further develop their managerial and leadership skills.
