About the role
Morrison Water Services are currently looking for a forward thinking and self-motivated SHEQ Advisor to work on our Welsh Water contract.
As the project SHEQ Advisor, you will be an important part of our SHEQ team, working together with the Morrison Water Services operations teams to ensure the safe delivery of all utility replacement on the workstream. You will advise Morrison Water Services construction managers, team leaders and site operatives in the field of statutory health and safety requirements, encouraging the reporting of near misses through proactive engagement.
Regularly inspect work locations and prepare and submit site inspections in a timely manner, reviewing and approving risk assessments and method statements. You will ensure temporary works are implemented safely, conducting investigations of incidents and accidents identifying root cause analysis and recommendations to prevent re-occurrence. Reporting incidents in line with Morrison Water Services and our clients reporting systems & minimum requirements. Compile and submit monthly KPI reports within agreed timescales to the regional SHEQ manager.
Delivering project inductions & undertake D&A testing (random & following incidents). Ensure actions from investigations are acted upon and assist Morrison Water Services operational teams in closing out actions in a timely manner. You’ll be assisting Morrison Water Services operation teams to deliver toolbox talks & safety briefings, supporting Wellbeing Campaigns and deliver toolbox talks and briefings on subject matter.
Assisting in the identification of safety training needs for site-based personnel and bring these to the attention of the SHEQ Manager. Co-operating with the Health and Safety Executive in connection with their site visits. Suggest, communicate and promote initiatives for accident prevention, and monitor compliance with both the Morrison Water Services management systems and our clients service management systems.
The Key Requirements
Do you have NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate?
Are you computer literate with experience of Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook?
Do you hold an appropriate Construction Skills Certification Scheme Card, EUSR SHEA Gas/Power and or/ EUSR Water Hygiene?
Are you a Member of IOSH?
Do you have a working knowledge of current UK Health and Safety legislation, best practice, street works and locating underground utilities/services?
Are you knowledgeable in Temporary Works, environmental regulations and NERs, GERs & WERs? This would be desirable.
Can you maintain records, prepare reports and evaluate safety practices, procedures, attitudes, and awareness and to recommend methods of improvement?
Are you experienced in delivering training modules and project inductions?
Do you have knowledge of a variety of occupational health risk environments, such as confined spaces and utilities service avoidance?

The Employer Engagement Coordinator will proactively engage, develop and retain key national and local employer partnerships to support the contractual requirements of the Restart programme. Responsible for contributing to the development and implementation the Employer Engagement Strategy.

Employer Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for sourcing high volume employment opportunities that are sustainable, including vacancies and job focused work placements to meet customer needs and aspirations. What you’ll need to do the role:

Ideally qualified to Level 4 or equivalent. You will have good knowledge of local labour market and growth sectors. You will have excellent communication skills at all levels, using a variety of communication methods (spoken, written, behaviour), along with excellent negotiation and influencing skills.

You must also be willing to travel around Wales.

UK NEQAS Blood Transfusion and Laboratory Practice (BTLP) is seeking an EQA Scientist, and we strongly encourage applications from Biomedical Scientists (BMSs) competent in transfusion testing.

This role is ideal for BMS professionals with hands-on transfusion testing experience and familiarity with a range of laboratory transfusion technologies and troubleshooting skills.

Our Transfusion team is a close-knit group of six, primarily with BMS backgrounds, working within a larger unit of around 30 colleagues, which also includes UK NEQAS Haematology.

You’ll have opportunities to attend transfusion conferences, keeping up to date with developments in the field.

We are based in a modern, custom-designed facility in Croxley Business Park, Watford, with amenities such as an on-site gym, childcare facilities, free parking, and a shuttle service from local train stations.

Laboratory work is phasic and depends on the needs of the service from day to day; approximately half your time will be spent in the laboratory and the other half in the office. Training will be provided in all aspects of EQA.

The normal hours for this post are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:30, however, part-time working of at least 30 hours per week would be considered.

UK NEQAS BTLP is a small team, and all members are expected to contribute to planning, laboratory work, and troubleshooting.

The post requires an ability to adapt to changes at short notice and to work closely within a team to find solutions to problems in a collaborative way to meet deadlines.

To receive, sort, check and bar code a variety of biological specimens. This is performed in a laboratory environment with many interruptions but you will be expected to perform these duties with maximum concentration. You will also be required to perform these duties using the personal protective equipment provided to ensure safety when dealing with the hazardous patient samples. All tasks should be performed following Health and Safety and Standard Operating Procedure guidelines. To accept specimens from patients and clinicians which arrive directly in the Laboratory and ensure correlation between the specimen and request form. The post holder will decide upon, and take appropriate action when required, to resolve any anomaly. The post holder will be required to identify sample urgency and to act accordingly by ensuring these are fast tracked. To input patient/specimen details for a variety of test requests from clinical sources into the Laboratory computer system using various formats. The post holder will prepare these labelled samples for laboratory testing and where appropriate perform such procedures e.g. glucose tolerance tests. The post holder will be required to perform manual tasks such as lifting large sample racks as well as storing supplies and emptying waste containers. The post holder will be required to perform the maintenance of some laboratory equipment e.g. centrifuges, fridges, blood gas analysers. Will perform general housekeeping duties e.g. decontamination of equipment and laboratory benches and replace sharps containers as and when required. Due to the nature of the job a high degree of dexterity and multi-tasking ability is necessary. Responds and deals with enquiries both clinical and non-clinical appertaining to the department. These may be from clinicians, patients or patients relatives. Will perform a variety of laboratory based tasks, is required to handle biological specimens and will have patient contact via telephone calls and direct patient contact when undertaking glucose tolerance testing. These duties must be performed in a caring, tactful and professional manner. Receives, sorts, checks and barcodes a variety of biological specimens, ensuring correlation and resolving any anomaly. Undertakes some specimen processing. Will be required to identify sample urgency. Has responsibility for the preparation, labelling and data entry of clinical specimens for biological testing. The post holder on rotation is solely responsible for tests performed in other laboratories or organisations. This will entail identifying the request and the off-site laboratory, packaging the sample and ensuring correct storage requirements, planning and organising transportation. Will organise their own work duties. Requires a high degree of dexterity and multi-tasking when attending to urgent specimen arrival via the pod system. Must be computer literate with good keyboard skills. Will be expected to operate expensive and sophisticated equipment. Is required to maintain various stocks. Will be required to confirm that the glucose analyser is working correctly. Ensure that test results are correlated and entered into the computer system. Enter patient data into the computer system. Will be expected to adhere to UHB policies and procedures. Will be required to demonstrate own role to new starters and less experienced staff. Will be required to participate in departmental audits where necessary.

Typical working hours and Payrate:

You will be required to be flexible and be able to work between Monday to Sunday, including evenings, on a Rota based system.

• Part-time hours: Minimum 6 hours per week
• Monday until Thursday afternoon evening work, we can be flexible on hours, for example 18:00 till 22:00 shift 4 hours or 15:00 till 21:00 shift 6 hours.
• Friday to Sunday it will be 9 hour shifts, again we can be flexible on these
• Pay: £11.48 per hour
