The University Hospitality Department provides catering to students, staff and external customers throughout the academic year and during the summer months. There are numerous outlets run by the Hospitality Department offering a range of food and drink options.

We have a vacancy for general Porter in in the hospitality department. This role will be supporting the food outlets in the west of campus. As a Kitchen Porter you will be responsible for delivering and receiving stock, maintaining excellent hygiene standards, operating dishwashers and carrying out daily cleaning of kitchen equipment, cutlery and crockery as well as setting up tables and furniture.

The successful candidate should work well within a team and have experience of working in a kitchen porter/general porter role and providing an excellent standard of customer service.

During term time the role is mainly Mon-Fri with occasional weekend requirements. During the summer there is an increased requirement for weekend and late evening shifts to be covered on a 5 out of 7 days per week contract (36.5 hours per week). The weekly shift pattern consists of straight shifts only, no split shifts.

Training and uniform are provided, and there are opportunities to develop in the role and seek promotion into supervisory roles.

Day to day of the role

Undertaking general clerical duties and implementing college office procedures and processes.
Undertaking filing and administering departmental record keeping.
Using a computer to input data onto spreadsheets and / or databases, including the setting up of simple spreadsheets and / or databases, word processing memos, letters, reports, and other communications, and drafting replies to general enquiries.
Receiving telephone calls and visitors, as well as answering general enquiries relating to the Department.

At Cavendish Nuclear we're working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Welding Technical Coordinator at our Hinkley Point C site.

This is a brilliant opportunity to work as part of the MEH Alliance on the prestigious Hinkley Point C Nuclear project. The alliance work across the project to integrate and coordinate the delivery of all main Mechanical, Electrical, Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (MEH), cabling and associated support services. This innovative approach will help different contractors work as a single entity to deliver the complex installation of cabling and pipework in the power station's vast network of rooms.

The role

As a Welding Technical Coordinator, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Being part of the MEH Alliance working on Hinkley Point C is a chance to be involved in a major project with national significance.

Day-to-day, you'll be responsible for operating the site Welding Quality Management Systems, inputting welding data, generating and issue Weld Process Control Cards for site welding activities and contribute to the completion of site welding quality records.

• Operate and administer the WeldEye Welding Management System for the Project/ Contract site operations.
• Transfer all required data into WeldEye.
• Generate site specific weld process control cards in line with afore mentioned weld procedures.
• Create a TQS and Weld IDs
• Create Work Orders (generate WPCC/PWHT & NDE Requests)
• Feedback and maintain welding activities, results, and records.
• Maintain welding records, including document registers and dashboards
• Maintain work files containing the necessary documentation.
• Interact with all other departments associated with welding operations.
• This role is full time, thirty-seven hours per week, and is based on site at Hinkley Point C.

Essential experience of the Welding Technical Coordinator

• Proven track record in large scale Installation of complex, multi-discipline projects, in the nuclear or similar regulated sector, including major EPC projects.
• Experience of welding related activities, inspections (visual and NDT) and quality control.
• A positive 'can do' mentality.
• Demonstrates strong communication skills, liaising effectively with peers, team members and other functions.
• Able to demonstrate accountability for their own actions and take responsibility.

Qualifications for the Welding Technical Coordinator

• NVQ 2 or Equivalent
• CITB HS&E Test
