Your new role
In this position you will be joining an established Finance Team reporting to the Finance Director You will be overseeing a small accountancy team responsible for their day to day supervision. You will support the FD with oversight of all transactional duties through monthly account management preparation, cashflow planning, reconciliations and more. Your key duties will involve delivering accurate reporting of all financials, including management accounts preparation for review of the Financial Director, P&L, balance sheet reconciliations. You will be involved in assisting with budgeting and forecasting processes, cashflow planning and treasury reporting. Timely completion of month-end responsibilities, analysis of commercial processes including monitoring margins and costs, co-ordinating with supply chain teams to manage working capital processes, including stock management, procurement, and debtors. You will support in year-end audit co-ordination, process/system improvement/implementation, along with processing of monthly salaries. You will support the ongoing development of a small accounting team with oversight of all transactional duties, including purchase/sales ledger processes, bank reconciliations and credit control, while remaining hands-on in busy periods.


What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this hands-on Finance Manager role, you will need experience in a similar position, excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with key MS, excellent MS skills, and experience in financial systems. You will have experience preparing monthly management accounts, including balance sheets and P&L's, along with being used to managing workloads to time-constrained deadlines. Ideally, you will be a qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA/AAT or qualified by experience. You will be a team player, but also able to use your own initiative with key problem-solving skills and be willing to adapt to business needs. Experience with SAP and Sage financial systems, along with supervisory/management experience in an SME, would be advantageous but not essential.

Your new role

The Financial Controller is responsible for ensuring all general and cost accounting activities are performed in accordance with regional accounting principles; internal controls are properly established and being actively monitored; and financial reporting is complete, accurate and timely. They will ensure the oversight of controlling cost, accounting, record keeping in the other business functions and ensure financial controls are adequate to safeguard from loss or other impropriety in inventory record keeping and labour/overhead usage. The Financial Controller participates in the organisation's management committee.

Main Responsibilities;

• Provide guidance and support to the management staff as well as other functional activities performed across the business to ensure transaction processing, labour costing and overheads are understood.
• Deliver first-level support for the business operations team for all finance and accounting questions.
• Provide bridges and explanations to Division Controller for snapshot and forecast, with analysis of the results vs budget, forecast and last year.
• Prepare the financial reporting and provide information for the consolidation of the services by Division.
• In collaboration with the Director of Operations, provide the monthly operational report and review KPIs to ensure good control of the operations
• Elaborate on the monthly / quarterly snapshot forecast or ad-hoc forecast in collaboration with the Director of Operations to ensure an accurate revenue / EBITDA
• Elaborate on the monthly closing tasks, supervise accounting entries (mainly managed by the global business services) and make sure they are properly entered and balanced
• Perform analysis of the expenses versus projection and budget and propose corrective actions to managers
• Prepare monthly FISL / posting in SAP and perform load in BPC.
• Prepare monthly schedules in accordance with company deadlines and policies.
• Lead the annual 5-year plan revision as well as the site revenue and cost centre budget process.
• Collaborate, review and challenge numbers with BDM and cost centre managers to create the total site budgets.
• Create site-specific deadlines to ensure regional timelines are achieved.
• Ensure the ongoing control over company assets is achieved by establishing a culture and environment where all functional departments (finance, sales, IT, customer service, etc.) provide strict adherence to company standards of Internal Control.
• Be responsible for ensuring accounting and reporting is complete, accurate and timely (including month-end close accounting).
• Maintain adequate reporting for key SOX controls.
• Provide support for internal and external audit requests.
• Continual support of developing management reporting efficiencies.
• Train and delegate other resources to ensure accurate electronic transaction processing occurs in SAP and other software packages (materials requirement, quality, etc.).

Your new organisation will be a major public services body in Sheffield who\'re looking to add a Finance Officer to their team to bolster their resilience and provide additional support to their Accountants and Finance Business Partners with clear, accurate and timely financial information.

Your new role
Within the role, you'll provide support with budget setting, profiling all revenue, capital and grant budgets in accordance with the budget-setting timetable, updating the annual budget and reconciling the General Ledger as necessary. You'll monitor the budgets and identify, query and explain any variances to the Management Accountant and provide commentary on expenditure. You'll calculate all accruals, prepayments, collaboration adjustments and external recharges and ensure they are input to the ledger on a monthly and year-end basis. Supporting the Accountant, you'll run capital month end reports and monitor for variances. What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role you'll need to either hold a full AAT qualification or be close to completing the exams, with experience of working in a financial environment including budgetary control and year-end procedures that you can talk through. You'll have the ability to analyse, critically evaluate and interpret financial information and have experience of using a computerised financial information system in a medium to large organisation (including General Ledger), with a knowledge of financial controls and rules regulation. A background in public sector finance would be beneficial and exposure to Oracle for finance a plus.
