We are looking for band 2 Medical Laboratory Assistant’s for the Central Specimen Reception Department. These are full time permanent positions (37.5 hours per week).

An opportunity has arisen to for a Band 6 dosimetrist to join the radiotherapy physics team at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, with appointment at band 5 possible for less experienced (or newly qualified) staff and training provided to progress to band 6.



The department delivers a comprehensive Radiotherapy service to approximately 2000 patients per year including a brachytherapy service and a complex Stereotactic Radiotherapy service.



A major part of the work involves complex treatment planning, particularly VMAT and dynamic IMRT Planning.The treatment planning team is also involved in Stereotactic radiotherapy planning (SRS), 4D planning, VMAT QA, and plan checking. Adaptive Radiotherapy Planning is routine for bladder treatments.



Treatment Planning is carried out on Eclipse for the five Varian TrueBeam linacs.



Two linacs have HyperArc and a 6d couch for intracranial Stereotactic treatment.



Pre-treatment imaging is carried out on the department’s widebore CT scanner and there is also access to MR and PET-CT in the hospital.



The post holder will carry out a range of VMAT, IMRT and conformal planning and will have the opportunity to develop skills in stereotactic planning and take part in research and development projects.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated service manager to join our busy Surgery, Perioperative Medicine and Adult Critical Care team. An opportunity has arisen for the right person to join the Dementia and Delirium Team based at Royal London Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust.

We are seeking to recruit a Dementia Nurse or Dementia Therapist to support the delivery of the Trust Dementia Strategy, to help improve the care and experience of those living with dementia or delirium and their carers. The role will also support the National Dementia strategy by identifying patients living with dementia and other causes of cognitive impairment and to prompt appropriate referral and follow up after they leave hospital.

We are looking for a nurse or therapist with experience of working with people living with dementia, who is enthusiastic, innovative and forward thinking with a passion for improving the lives of people living with dementia.

The successful candidate will be required to carry out clinical assessments on those identified with a cognitive impairment. The candidate will work closely with the multidisciplinary teams on the wards to ensure person-centred care is being delivered. You will be required to review practice, provide specialist advice, support and make recommendations.

The post holder will work with the dementia teams across the Trust to support the implementation and evaluation of a seamless Dementia care pathway, ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of clinical care, treatment and support throughout the hospital journey and beyond. They will specialise in the care of people with dementia and delirium and will demonstrate a willingness to develop expertise in the provision of specialist advice and support to ward teams, people with dementia and their carers. They will play a key role in the delivery of the trust Dementia education programme, providing training and evaluating training programmes. The post holder will participate in clinical audits and research within the specialist area.

Together with the dementia teams, the post holder will contribute to the embedding of KPI targets and NICE Quality standards across the Trust, and the implementation of objectives within local and National Dementia Strategies.

The post holder will influence the ongoing development of clinical practice within Dementia and delirium care practice, participate in research and contribute to the development of standards of care within the service, including the development of policies, protocols, guidelines and service developments in collaboration with multi- disciplinary colleagues.

Clinical To deliver a variety of guided self-help interventions for children, young people and their parents through individual sessions or groups To undertake patient-centred assessments which identify areas where the person wishes to see change and or recovery and makes an accurate assessment of risk to self and others.Make decisions, jointly with the supervisor, on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the departments referral protocols, refers unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary or steps-up the persons treatment to high intensity psychological therapy. Offer workshops and groups to parents and / or young people Provide a range of information and support for evidence based high-volume low-intensity psychological treatments. This may include guided self-help CBT, information about other self help resources. This work may be face to face, using online portals, telephone or via other media. To adhere to an agreed activity and throughput contract relating to the overall number of client contacts offered, and clinical sessions carried out per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient. To attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate. To complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service. To keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols and use these records and clinical outcome data in clinical decision making. To work closely with other members of the team ensuring appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach. To assess and integrate issues surrounding school and family life into the overall therapy process. To operate at all times from an inclusive values base which promotes recovery and recognises and respects diversity. To engage in and respond to personal development supervision to improve competences and clinical practice. Professional To ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to the employer and any regulating, and keep up to date on new recommendations/guidelines set by the department of health (e.g. NHS plan, National Service Framework, National Institute for Clinical Excellence). To ensure that client confidentiality is protected at all times. To be aware of, and keep up to date with advances in the spheres of treatment for common mental health problems. To ensure clear objectives are identified, discussed and reviewed with supervisors on a regular basis as part of continuing professional development.
