Amazon & Jungle Children’s Units can open a number and variety of opportunities for an enthusiastic and driven Health Care Assistant. We are passionate about the care and quality that children and their families receive within our units and have state-of-the-art facilities equipped with the latest equipment and this ensures that children receive the very highest standards of healthcare.

We have a 30 bedded Ward comprising of 12 en-suite cubicles, a 2 bedded fully equipped HDU area and 4 four bedded bays. We are a general paediatric unit receiving children from 0 – 18 years dependent on condition. We operate a busy day surgery area within the unit, taking up to 10 surgical patients per day.

As an HCA you may be asked to help on Jungle which is our eight bedded paediatric assessment unit adjacent to the Amazon Children’s ward where GP admissions are assessed and monitored. We share this area part of the day with the emergency department.

1. Welcoming children and families


1.0 Welcome children and families to the Department
- Ensure all areas are tidy and welcoming
- Ensure ward signs and notices are up-to-date and easy to read
- Ensure patient information material is accessible and up-to-date


1.1 Direct children and families to other areas and departments as required
- Facilitate use of wheelchairs, pushchairs, etc. when required

What you will do in the role…We have an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Sports Rehabilitator to join our team in Peterborough. You will work across multiple sites to deliver face to face rehabilitation sessions within a variety of unique Health settings.
You will play a fundamental role in providing support to patients by delivering soft tissue treatments and running rehabilitation classes. You will utilise your musculoskeletal knowledge to provide assessments and treatments of the spine, upper limb, and lower limb. Doors will be opened for you to work with a range of clients whilst you manage a caseload of patients in a professional manner. Our team usually work 8:00am – 16:00pm but we are always happy to be flexible. Our office hours are 8:00am – 18:00 pm Monday to Friday.

Skills and Experience:
Essential

• Degree in Sports Rehabilitation
• Full graduate member of BASRaT and entitled to the use of the title Graduate Sports Rehabilitator
• Experience of working individually and within a team
• Proven experience of managing a caseload of patients and running rehabilitation classes
• Ability to deliver soft tissue treatments, set goals, and design individualised and progressive rehabilitation programmes
• Adept in time management and prioritisation.
• Sound musculoskeletal knowledge including assessment/treatment of common conditions of the spine, upper limb and lower limb. Awareness of Post-operative protocols and precautions
• Basic knowledge of the occupational health sector including benefits of physiotherapy OH.
• Friendly and approachable with excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Team Player
• Flexibility and willingness to adapt to the needs of the client
• An awareness of and commitment to supporting and facilitating diversity and inclusion

Desirable:

• Experience of working with Physiotherapists
• Prior Occupational Health experience

Work as part of the 0-19 pathway to deliver planned programmes of care under the direction of the Locality Specialist Community Public Health Nurses (SCPHN). This will involve onward referrals as required. To manage own caseload for the identified children and young people. Deliver the role in a variety of settings e.g. schools, clinics, client homes, community venues. To deliver New Birth contacts, 6 week checks, 1 and 2 year reviews, transfer in contacts, school health assessments as required when competency has been demonstrated. This may include contact with some vulnerable families under the direction and supervision of a SCPHN qualified practitioner. Actively participate in the delivery of a service for identified health priorities in accordance with referral criteria. Attend events that enable the service to be promoted as required/appropriate. Review records of children moving in/out of the area according to agreed guidelines/protocols. Assist in the delivery of Public Health group activities as identified through needs assessment/ trend of referrals eg themed drop ins, health days, Report back any concerns to the HCP 0-19 Team Leader or Locality SCPHN. Adhere to the local Safeguarding Childrens Board and safeguarding adult guidelines and procedures and attend relevant training.
