(1) Troubleshoots, performs maintenance and major repairs on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical and automotive vehicles. This may include self-propelled artillery, tracked cargo and personnel carriers, road graders, mobile cranes, front loaders, conveyors, bulldozers, power shovels, compressors, generators, tanks, tracked combat vehicles, sedans, buses, all terrain vehicles, trucks, semi trailers, forklifts, tractors, and accessory equipment. Troubleshoots, repairs and overhauls major systems to include internal combustion engines, turbine engines, automatic and non-automatic transmissions, heavy duty drive line systems, and hydraulic utility systems and controls. Makes repairs to assemblies and components such as voltage regulators, generators/alternators, brake cylinders, etc. Performs work in accordance with modification work orders, technical manuals, lubrication orders, maintenance bulletins, regulations or management policies. May repair a variety of more complex major systems to include engines, cross drive or similar multi-system transmissions and a variety of intricate fuel injection systems.

(2) Troubleshoots equipment and diagnoses the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory checks and/or uses test equipment such as engine analyzers, compression testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters, pressure gauges, and computer diagnostic tools. Utilizes embedded diagnostics in equipment and a wide variety of original equipment manufacturer system analyzers in order to determine the exact nature or extent of repair. Determines what adjustments may be necessary to complete work orders, and whether any additional repairs other than those specified or indicated on the work order are necessary.

(3) Removes and disassembles engines and major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and fuel, hydraulic, and oil pressure systems. Makes the appropriate repairs, overhaul, or modifications in accordance with the proper repair specifications and procedures. Reassembles engines and other systems, and adjusts, tests, and reinstalls in vehicles and equipment as necessary. Makes adjustments and repairs to electrical and suspension systems. May install pistons, sleeves, rings, bearings, rods, crankshafts, timing gears, and rocker arms. May be required to perform fuel injection equipment repair, overhaul, rebuild, and calibration duties utilizing a variety of complex test and calibration equipment.

(4) Independently performs repairs and maintenance functions in remote locations that can be accomplished by removing, cleaning, reinstalling, or replacing defective parts of components and systems such as injectors, leaking wheel cylinders, corroded mufflers, fuel tanks, brake cylinders and worn brake shoes, voltage regulators, generators, injector pumps, and fuel pumps. Provides technical guidance and specialized team leadership to lower grade employees within the team. Assists lower grade mechanics in performing major repair work. May provide Field and limited Sustainment maintenance at unit locations as part of a "contact team." Recovers and evacuates inoperable vehicles from the unit location of breakdown. May assist higher graded mechanics in repairing a variety of interconnected systems such as electrical, air and hydraulic systems, complex state of the art electrical and electronic systems that use specialized diagnostic equipment to identify problems, complex fuel injection systems and other similar complex systems.

(5) Conducts readiness and repair inspections on vehicles and associated equipment supported by the activity. Performs operational inspections and ensures vehicles and equipment are properly serviced, including brake adjustments, replacing hydraulic fluids, greasing, cleaning, etc., and performs other preventive maintenance operations as required. Inspects supported equipment prior to use during Inactive Duty Training (IDT) and Annual Training (AT), to ensure that it is functioning properly. May inspect in-process repair work of lower graded repairer to ensure equipment is being repaired in accordance with pertinent requirements. May serve as a commodity inspector during Command Maintenance Management evaluations (COMET) or as a member of a Maintenance Assistance Instruction Team (MAIT). Instructs operator/crew in the maintenance of equipment and provides technical advice and assistance to supported units when requested.

(6) May maintain and repair electronics communication equipment by removing and replacing components and elements. Equipment includes such items as radios, field telephones, amplifiers, switchboards, recorders, intercoms.

Provide minor maintenance to wooden furniture and other lodging assets as well as cabinets, counters, flooring, walls, ceilings, doors and plumbing. Conducts preventative maintenance on equipment such as vacuums, steam cleaners and power tools. Periodically moves heavy furniture to facilitate cleaning, occasionally vacuums and cleans carpet and draperies. Moves washers and dryers to enable thorough cleaning. Shampoos carpet using industrial type power equipment. Hangs and moves pictures. Moves and replaces excess or broken furnishings and equipment in guest rooms and in the lodging warehouse. Overseas contractor compliance during furniture and asset installation as part of lodging renovations. Maintains logs and status updates of maintenance called into other agencies such as Civil Engineers (CE). Prepares AF Forms 332 and ensures proper routing through base agencies. Assess safety issues for possible Risk Assessment with Safety. Ensures estimates and pictures where needed are provided as supporting documentation. Performs Quarterly check with CE for tracking of work orders. Ensures maintenance issues are not closed prior to satisfactory work. Manages and blocks rooms in Defense Lodging System. Acts as Safety Representative for the lodging operation. Conducts walk through of facilities and grounds to include the lodging playground and pavilions, tracks and ensures annual maintenance of fire extinguishers. Ensures correction of existing hazards and monitors discrepancies to completion. Answers safety reports and maintains reports and answers for five years. Ensures vehicles are checked daily, proper documentation is conducted, and minor maintenance and upkeep is performed including replacing batteries and maintaining fluids. Schedules vehicles for maintenance through the lodging Vehicle Control Officer (VCO). Be able to drive various vehicles to include forklifts and large utility vehicles. Ensures all Lodging Checklist items are properly documented and maintained.

About the role

SIGN-ON BONUS: $2,500 Sign (1/2 after 30 days, 1/2 after 90 days)

As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will be responsible for the planned, unplanned, and preventative maintenance tasks required to ensure safe and efficient operational effectiveness of equipment and systems which enable Covanta’s industrial disposal process.

Position Responsibilities:

• Effectively complete preventive maintenance tasks per maintenance schedule to prevent breakdowns of equipment and operational downtime

• Inspect and adjust the mechanical alignment of pumps, replace and/or rebuild pumps, fan bearings, motors, and conveyors; Rebuild or change gearboxes

• Install and modify pipelines, and assist in the modification and addition of plant projects

• Read blueprints and P&IDs, and perform welding in SMAW,GTAW, and GMAW

• Utilize root-cause analysis skills to investigate breakdown and line stoppages collaborating with various teams and stakeholders

• Prioritize work to ensure timely maintenance, repair and installation of equipment, tools, and utility systems to minimize production downtime and complete all required paperwork and documentation in the company’s computerized maintenance documentation program

• Utilize Covanta’s defined maintenance documentation program to open and close out work orders, check out spare parts, and other activities as required in the plant.

• Repair and/or maintain the operating condition of industrial production or processing machinery or equipment including inspection, assembly, disassembly, and replacement as necessary

• Observe and evaluate the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions utilizing mechanical devices

• Inspect operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational and safety performance standards.

Primary Function

The Electronics Technician Maintenance I apply basic technical knowledge to solve problems that typically can be solved solely by referencing manufacturers' manuals or similar documents with the guidance of Electronics Technician Maintenance II. Examples of such problems include determining the location and density of circuitry, evaluating electromagnetic radiation, isolating malfunctions, and incorporating changes. This position shall provide support to the Joint Pacific Alaska Range Complex (JPARC) at Eielson Air Force Base (AFB), Alaska to include maintenance, operational, engineering support, operational support for RED FLAG Alaska (RFA) exercises and daily training requirements. 

Essential Duties

•    Knowledgeable in basic electronics, RF transmitter/receiver theory, technical orders/manuals, RF/network/fiber cable standards, electronic sensitive devices, grounding bonding and shielding, antennas, antenna towers, frequency requests and approvals, corrosion, and control methods and etc.
•    Works with the guidance of Electronic Technician Maintenance II or II to accomplish in-depth troubleshooting tasks of complex systems and provides assistance when requested. 
•    Assists in installation of communication-electronic equipment according to specified technical documentation, data and guidance for assigned projects and new systems.
•    Prepares and maintains accurate maintenance and installation documentation using USAF Technical Orders (TO), OEM/commercial manuals/documentation and historical and communications infrastructure records, etc. 
•    Perform entries into Integrated Maintenance Database Systems (IMDS), (CAMS) Core Automated Maintenance System replacement) and/or other maintenance data collect systems to document equipment outages, equipment status reporting, schedule maintenance actions, document maintenance actions, creation of job standards and/or preventative maintenance inspections, etc., to ensure current and correct status is being reported. 
•    Continues in training and understanding of communications-electronics equipment, EW systems and sub-systems.
•    Uses TOs and commercial manuals (OEM), system/tower “as-builts” and communications infrastructure drawings to perform maintenance, servicing, annual corrosion inspection, treatment, tightening or alignment, repair or replacement of all antennas, cables and transmission lines.
•    Ensure safety and quality control standards are met using appropriate instructions and policy directives. 
•    Assists in range maintenance, fire suppression and decontamination as required.

Required Qualifications

•    Graduate of an accredited electronics apprentice program with five (5) years of Entry level or military electronics technical training.   
•    Recent communications-electronics quality assurance, and IMDS equipment status reporting/job standard experience to include military/DoD/commercial course completions in the previously stated areas is highly desired
•    Five (5) years’ experience performing Electronic Technician I work at the Entry level on RF Transmitters/Receivers, Microwave, Radar and Comm Networks with in-depth knowledge of test/diagnostic equipment, electronic component level fault isolation/repair of circuit cards components, i.e. resisters, capacitors, microcircuits, and etc., interpreting/troubleshooting with complex drawings, IMDS maintenance reporting, associated communication-electronics programs requirements and etc.
•    Must be able to work on secure military facilities.
•    Must have current valid driver’s license and clean driving record and be qualified to operate a vehicle.
•    Must be able to pass a DoD background check, pass drug screening tests and obtain SECRET security clearance with the ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance to access TS/SCI, Special Access Program Information and Facilities.

•    Must have advanced knowledge in troubleshooting, inspections, calibrate, repair, remove and install equipment components.
•    Ability to prepare radars and supporting equipment for the scheduled training events. 
•    Must have advanced knowledge of maintenance data collection databases to include in administrative level entries, i.e., equipment status reporting and job standard task creation
•    Must have significant knowledge in Communications Security, related programs and regulations. 
•    Must be able to assist in projects or programs dealing with communications electronics systems and associated equipment
•    Ability to climb up to 70 feet to perform maintenance.
•    Must be able to train lower level Electronic Technicians. 
•    Must be able to re-establish systems after movement and deployment. 
•    Must be a multi-tasker. 

Required Qualifications:
•    High School Diploma or equivalent
•    Graduate of an accredited electronics apprentice program with eight (8) years of Journeyman level or military electronics technical training, equivalent Associate’s degree, and same number of years at Journeyman level experience as previously stated.   
•    Recent communications-electronics quality assurance, and IMDS equipment status reporting/job standard experience to include military/DoD/commercial course completions in the previously stated areas is highly desired
•    Five (5) years’ experience performing Electronic Technician II work at the journey level on RF Transmitters/Receivers, Microwave, Radar and Comm Networks with in-depth knowledge of test/diagnostic equipment, electronic component level fault isolation/repair of circuit cards components, i.e. resisters, capacitors, microcircuits, and etc., interpreting/troubleshooting with complex drawings, IMDS maintenance reporting, associated communication-electronics programs requirements and etc.
•    Must be able to work on secure military facilities.
•    Must have current valid driver’s license and clean driving record and be qualified to operate a vehicle.
•    Must be able to pass a DoD background check, pass drug screening tests and obtain SECRET security clearance with the ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance to access TS/SCI, Special Access Program Information and Facilities.
