We currently have a vacancy for a dynamic, motivated administrator to work in the busy Cardiology Research Department within the newBarts Heart Centre.We are the biggest cardiovascular centre in Europe and have a growing portfolio of interventional research for cardiac patients. The post is for a one year fixed term contract position in the first instance with possibility of extension.



The primary responsibility for this post holder is support the delivery of our research portfolio as well as to assist with the every day tasks of the department. The post holder will be based within the cardiology research department at the Barts Heart centre. You might be required to cover multiple sites within the trust.



You will be an enthusiastic individual who is willing to learn an array of new skills and is passionate about research and patient care, with a background in administration within the healthcare setting. You must demonstrate organisational, interpersonal and communication skills, be computer literate, flexible and be able to manage your own time effectively.Excellent time management and IT skills are essential to the role.

The post holder will be expected to provide a full administrative support within the research team; and, as such, have a working knowledge of all studies within the department, with focus on supporting the department’s administrative needs, study protocol and patient flow.The role will include the registration of new patients for the service, handling queries (e.g. from patients and GPs), arranging appointments/correspondence and supporting the team to make the flow of the patients’ pathway as smooth as possible. Main duties will be maintaining files (both paper and electronic) as well as ensuring each step of the patient’s pathway is accurately documented in the appropriate data capture systems in a timely manner. The role will also involve coordination R&D applications and maintenance of database of trial activity. The post holder will support the activities of Research Delivery Managers to assist with the implementation and conduct of trials and maintenance of high quality work and training.

Line Management Fully line manage the Research Contracts Associate/Officer providing full Human Resource support activities including staff induction, objective setting, training and development, managing performance, annual leave and sickness absence. Day to day supervision /management of other members of legal team; provides specialist training to NHS clinical and non-clinical staff on aspects of law e.g. on medical negligence, litigation claims and employment law. Other Duties will include Lead on maintaining effective working relationships between Sponsors and Clinical Research Organisations (CROs) and other collaborators to ensure contract negotiations and study set up time is minimal Lead on provision of data and project information to the NIHR to ensure our contractual requirements are met The post holder will be required to work on specific projects and undertake other administrative duties as required such as during the preparation of a MHRA inspection and other internal or external audits. About us

The Science Museum Group (SMG) is an exciting organisation at the boundary of the private, public and charitable sectors, with a fascinating variety of reporting challenges. The finance team is based across the Group's six sites, with ambitious plans for improvement in financial reporting.

We are now recruiting for a Financial Reporting Accountant on a fixed-term contract for 12 months. This role is full-time, working 35 hours per week and can be based either at the Science Museum in London or the Science and Industry Museum in Manchester, with hybrid working also available.

About the role

As Financial Reporting Accountant you will help to deliver important parts of our plan to shorten our reporting cycle, improve our control environment and increase the value of our financial data to a range of stakeholders.

You will focus on ensuring that the data required to automate the majority of our record to report cycle is available within our finance system, TechnologyOne, and that our processes are system-driven and repeatable. You will look at transactions across our Statements of Comprehensive Income and Financial Position (P&L and balance sheet), including those related to the fixed assets in our physical estate, fund accounting and other museum activities.

You will have the opportunity to think about how we can be as efficient as possible in using our existing data sources, whether owned by finance or by other departments, to produce a range of financial reporting outputs such as our group's statutory accounts (under the Charities SORP and Companies Act), our consolidation pack for Government (under IFRS) and other statistical returns.

About you

Joining us you will have a relevant accounting or financial qualification e.g. ACA, CIMA, CIPFA in addition to good technical knowledge of current accounting standards. You will have significant experience of reporting and auditing processes with an interest in future developments in these areas.

Crucially, you will have a proactive approach to making processes efficient with a commitment to increasing the use of automation in finance tasks. You will be a good communicator with the ability to plan and deliver pieces of work, setting clear expectations for others and yourself.

We are looking for a technician coach to join the Health team. As technician coach, you will be responsible and accountable for the health and safety of the specialist ward and laboratory, inventory, stock control and issuing of classroom materials to support teaching staff, and supporting small groups of learners with practical skills and progress.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Research team based at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre in Northwood, London for a 12 month period. The post involves working alongside Research Nurses and Clinicians to deliver research trials.

The main purpose of the role is to support the clinical research team with all aspects of clinical trials administration, according to Good Clinical Practice (GCP), standard operating procedures (SOPs) and trust policies. The post holder will provide support to the Research Nurses and wider Clinical Research Team.

You will be joining a well-established Research Team and a department which has over 100 members of research staff throughout the Trust.

Assist with the efficient and timely set up of clinical trials.

Maintain databases/spreadsheets and produce monthly progress reports on recruitment.
