To help organise and facilitate co-design workshops with community groups and individuals with lived experience of psychosis from Bangladeshi, Black African, and Black Caribbean backgrounds. Screening and recruitment of patients diagnosed with psychosis and patients at ultra high risk pf psychosis. This will involve speaking to referrers regularly, attending clinical team meetings, visiting community mental health teams, hospital wards, as well as home based treatment teams. There will be monthly recruitment targets for all studies. The post-holder will be joining a team of research assistants to help meet these targets. Completing eligibility screening assessments and seeking informed consent from patients. Carrying out the assessments for the trials. The trial patients will be assessed on a range of measures at a number of time points for each study. You will need to arrange these interviews and administer clinical interviews, assessment tasks, and self-report questionnaires. Participants will be seen in clinic settings or at home across a large geographical area. Patients are seen in multiple NHS trusts including: Oxford Health, Northamptonshire Healthcare, Berkshire Healthcare, and Central Northwest London (Milton Keynes). Assessments will be carried out blind (i.e. you should not know which condition thepatients have been randomised to). You will need to remind staff and patients not to tell you the allocation. And you will need to report if you have become unblinded. It will be crucial to maintain very high follow-up rates for the trial participants, meaning you will need excellent engagement skills. Good record-keeping will be needed, including updating medical records with trial progress and managing recruitment databases. Applications are invited to apply for this exciting opportunity to work within a large, dynamic trials unit looking after haemato-oncology patients. It is a 1-year fixed term post on the Early Phase Cancer Trials Unit (EPCTU) in the Department of Oncology and Haematology.

The postholder will be responsible for the day-to-day management of patients with haematological malignancy (with a focus on lymphoid) on the Early Phase Cancer Trials Unit. There will be an opportunity to develop research projects in clinical trials and translational science, and training will focus on the design, setting up and execution of clinical research.

The Department of Computer Science is looking to employ a Postdoctoral Researcher to work within an interdisciplinary team on securing convergent ultra-large scale infrastructures (SCULI). The SCULI project is a research collaboration between University of Oxford, University of Bristol and the University of Lancaster that will be working closely with stakeholders and organisations from industry and the critical national infrastructure sectors.

The project is investigating how to secure emerging ultra-large scale digital infrastructures which are seeing convergence and connectivity at unprecedented scale. This is true for both current critical national infrastructures and emerging future systems, e.g., smart cities, intelligent transportation, high-value manufacturing and Industry 4.0. Cybersecurity of such ultra-large scale infrastructures faces unprecedented complexity. Diverse legacy and non-legacy software and hardware compose on-the-fly to deliver services to millions of users with varying requirements and unpredictable actions. This complexity is compounded by intricate supply-chains and the need to deliver resilient operations in the presence of untrusted, partially trusted or compromised elements.

The successful candidate will be required to work primarily under the direction of Professor Ivan Flechais, with guidance from other senior academics and will be based in the Oxford team focused on the following research objectives:

• Predictability at ultra-large scale: How to elicit, specify and validate security assurances for service composition in the presence of uncertainty, dynamism and human behaviour (including addressing direct and indirect dependencies and resulting systemic risks)?

It is essential that successful candidate would hold a relevant PhD/DPhil or being close to completion in computer science or information systems.
In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to collaborate with researchers working across the SCULI project, and cybersecurity professionals from business and industry.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new Research Nurse to come and work within the Cardiovascular Research team. The post holder will work as part of the Research Team, predominately within the Oxford Heart Centre and the University Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, who are involved in a wide spectrum of clinical research ranging from observational studies to early phase clinical studies and trials, to large multi-centre randomised trials. Key roles include:
• Working with Principal Investigators (PIs) and their teams to manage and co-ordinate the processes and care involved with patients participating in clinical research studies.

An opportunity has arisen for anenthusiastic, motivated Research Nurse to come and work within the Cardiovascular Research team. The post holder will work predominantly within the Oxford Heart Centre on a variety of clinical research studies, ranging from observational studies to large multi-centre randomised trials.

The Cardiovascular Team is a team of dedicated nurses, coordinators and data coordinators who work together to provide a quality service for the rolling program of cardiovascular research studies, trials and projects undertaken within the OUH.

We are looking for a registered nurse with excellent clinical and organisational skills, who is able to manage a patient caseload. They will need excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Research experience would be an advantage but not essential as training will be given.

The post holder will have ownership over a number of studies and will be the initial point of contact for patients on these studies. The post holder will be supported by the wider research team lead by the Lead Cardiac Research Nurse Manager and Principle Investigators.

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with strong expertise in organic chemistry who is also a confident self-starter, a collaborative team player, and demonstrate a proven track record of first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals.

In this role, you will develop a diagnostic platform applying the in-house developed technique SPARTA™ to the analysis of extracellular vesicles as potential disease biomarkers. The post will involve a range of nanobiomaterial characterisation techniques and the application of multivariate data analysis methods for sample classification.

This post is available from January 2025 for a fixed-term of 12 months, with the possibility of part-time appointments being considered.

Key responsibilities:
• Develop Single Particle Automated Raman Trapping Analysis (SPARTA™) as a non-invasive disease diagnostic technique based on EVs as biomarkers.
• Develop a deep understanding of EV biochemistry, Raman fingerprints and surface protein expression.
• Evaluate the performance of the technique with model systems and patient samples.
• Undertake the associated data analysis and interpretation, ensuring validity and reliability of data at all times, including either developing or liaising with others to use chemometrics, ML/AI algorithms and/or multivariate analysis.
• Manage your own research activities, including administrative tasks associated with the project.
• Actively participate in the multidisciplinary environment of the Stevens Group and collaborate with external research groups.

Selection criteria:
• Hold, or be near to completion of, a PhD/DPhil in materials science, chemistry, physics, nanotechnology, or related field.

Although this job is advertised at grade 7, we are willing to offer grade 8 to a candidate with significant experience and skills in managing a similar portfolio size and leading the administration of the Biomedical Research Centre.

We are seeking to recruit a highly experienced and organised Research Grants Manager to join our busy Research Grants team at the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS), located at the Botnar Research Centre, Oxford.

This exciting position combines line management responsibilities for a small team alongside directly managing a portfolio of research groups. The postholder will be required to act as a financial guide, providing professional and flexible financial management to research groups, to support the achievement of the department’s strategic objectives. The post provides a crucial role in the running of the Botnar Institute, liaising between Botnar academics, University Professional Services teams and external grant funders.

You will work closely with colleagues within the Institute, departmental colleagues and Research Accounts throughout the lifecycle of grants; ensuring all eligible costs have been added to each grant and confirming total spend to allow accurate reporting to the funder. You will provide timely, regular and accurate reports and detailed analysis on the research funding portfolio, and associated risks, to the Principal Investigators and senior management, so that they have a sound financial evidence base to assess how best to utilise their grant budgets. You will liaise with external sponsors, collaborating Universities and other University of Oxford Departments on grant award management.

You will be educated to a degree level or equivalent qualification. You will have a sound and in-depth knowledge of grant funders and post-award management together with ability to create, analyse and understand financial data. You will be a highly organised and accurate with ability to work well as a member of close-knit team and independently. Experience of using online grant application forms and working knowledge of X5, Oracle Financials and PeopleXD are desirable.

This is a full-time maternity leave cover appointment for 12 months. This post is available from 1 December 2024.
