About the Role

As a Head of Design or Head, Product Design, you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of our product design team. This role requires a strategic mindset, strong analytical skills, and a deep understanding of the financial industry.

Requirements 

• Mastered all aspects of the product design, such as crafting, pitching, managing, operations. Able to be hands on too when needed. 
• Able to lead on project level, product level and organisation level. 
• Solid experience to lead and inspire a diverse team of product designers, UX writers and researchers.  
• Mentoring, coaching team to bring out the best in them. 
• Be responsible not just on product design but for every customer touchpoint: OOH, key visuals.. etc. 
• Build rapport with every product owners within the organisation. Plus non product areas such as legal, compliance. Able to resolve issues and nuances of day to day business challenges.   
• Able to navigate ambiguity, solve difficult problems, finding solutions, and providing an actionable plan.  

Qualifications 

• At least 20 years of experience in the design industry. 
• Previous experience of contributing to high impact project in the company.

Position: Mechanical Engineer (Bus Design)

Responsibilities:

1. Produce and control accurate bills of material on the Sage MRP system.

2. Maintain drawing history records and document all information throughout the planning process.

3. Liaise with production to ensure vehicles are built to the correct specifications.

4. Source new materials and technology as required and maintain supplier records.

5. Develop product designs that meet customer specifications using Creo models and assemblies.

6. Create build drawings, workshop procedures, and engineering reports in English.

7. Collaborate with production and engineering teams to ensure contracts are completed on time.

8. Support vehicle development builds and record modifications and improvements.

Requirements:

1. Education:

- BEng (Hons) or BSc (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, OR

- HND in Engineering with 3+ years of relevant experience, OR

- 5+ years of recent relevant experience in the bus industry.

2. Experience:

- Minimum 2 years in a relevant engineering environment.

- Experience in commercial vehicle or zero-emission vehicle design is a plus.

3. Skills:

- Strong problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and computer literacy.

- Proficiency in 3D & 2D CAD (especially Creo), with PDM experience.

- Ability to write concise engineering reports in English.

Desirable:

- MEng/MSc in Mechanical Engineering.

- Experience in bus body/chassis design and automotive systems.

- Leadership skills and experience in zero-emission vehicle design.

This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Office of the Secretary, Office of Acquisition and Property Management located in Washington, DC.

This position is being advertised as both location negotiable after selection and with a duty station of Washington, D.C and Denver, CO with the option of telework. If applying to "negotiable after selection", this means that your duty station will be based off your home address and you will be a full-time remote worker. If applying to a specific duty station, you may be allowed to telework a set number of day(s) per pay period, with supervisory approval.


At the full performance level GS-15 the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

1. Develops complex space management strategies, multi-year plans, policy, regulations, and procedures through collaboration across organizational boundaries. Leads Departmental space management programs pertaining to the acquisition, utilization, and management and disposal of space, driving toward consistency across all bureaus/offices while remaining sensitive to diverse organizational cultures.
2. Formulates and develops national strategies, policies, procedures, and guidelines pertaining to the most complex or critical aspects of space management for the Department, e.g., collocation, consolidation, space reduction strategies, financial savings. Coordinates the application of comprehensive policies and practices for the Department.
3. Effectively anticipates, addresses, and resolves challenges across program areas with professionalism and tactfulness.
4. Develops and coordinates national policy and guidance for the Department's housing program in alignment with leadership intent and direction, OMB policy, and program goals. Represents the Department and provides expertise, leadership, and advice to the National Housing Council.
5. Provides expertise, technical advice, and coordination to Interior bureaus on legislative and regulatory developments, changes in space management and housing practices, and trends affecting the Department's requirements for, and use of, space and housing. Serves as a DOI focal point for portfolio-centric space management and accountability to optimize the Department's portfolio of owned and leased assets.
6. Represents the Department at interagency meetings on governmentwide space management and housing policy and initiatives. Secures necessary coordination and cooperation with the General Services Administration (GSA), OMB, and other agencies, as required. Provides leadership on inter- and intra-agency space management committees and work groups.
7. Gathers, tracks, and analyzes data and completes applicable reports for Interior on space management and housing performance and accountability, identifying root cause of variance in a timely manner, implementing corrective action to ensure compliance with law, regulation, policy, the Department of the Interior Strategic Plan, and Asset Management Vision.

• Coordinates and facilitates the activities of cross-functional teams to ensure ONRR harnesses the collective brain power of its workforce, breaks down organizational silos, leverages the most appropriate and effective technologies available, and leads the development of requirements and operational decisions to implement efficient and effective business processes.
• Exercises a broad range of supervisory responsibility including leading a multi-disciplinary technical staff of Product Managers and Operations Leads, providing job priorities, establishing work standards, hiring, evaluating performance, handling personnel issues, and ensuring the development, mentoring, and coaching of staff.
• Brings a systematic, disciplined approach to the adoption of new operational activities and technology so that business needs are adequately understood and addressed, and risks are appropriately identified, communicated, and mitigated.
• Meets with key customers and stakeholders to assess customer satisfaction, provide advice and recommendations to improve organization policy and procedures, and resolve problems that arise.

• Provides direct supervision to the staff in the immediate Office of the Director, BIA.
• Provides oversight on the administrative processes and procedures utilized for effective work flow frequently involving highly sensitive and confidential assignments.
• Interacts routinely with members of Congress, Congressional Committees and their staff, other departments of the Federal Government, Tribal leadership groups and key Bureau management.
• Plans and conducts complex qualitative and quantitative analytical studies involving bureau-wide functional/programmatic areas of the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
• Coordinates or leads special investigations, studies or projects involving bureau-wide or government-wide concerns involving topics, such as, land consolidation, water rights, land economic development, etc.
• Serves as the principal advisor to the Director, BIA, on administrative and financial management matters associated with programs and operations.
• Translates major, complex executive determinations into substantive policy issuances, programs, practices, plans of actions, etc., to achieve actual results desired as a consequence of such decisions.

The Architect will be expected to manage complex multi-million dollar new or renovation projects throughout all phases of construction from the first meeting with the customer, defining requirements, ensuring requirements are defined by accurate contract documents, and observing the project from construction to completion. Is responsible for interpreting, reviewing, and analyzing Architectural design concepts in order to produce plans and associated details necessary for competitive bid documents through the use of Computer Aided Engineering Graphics (CAEG). Has the knowledge, skills, and experience in taking an active and leading role in developing and presenting special reports and briefings, conducting conferences, meetings, and negotiations on problems and issues involving bargaining viewpoints, goals, and objectives for subject matter experts from agency headquarters, regional offices, coworkers, and private industries such as A/E consultants and construction contractors. Develops and/or approves independent government cost estimates and creates project budgets for building projects.

The Architect will perform multiple, varying, and complex assignments and plans the implementation of projects/programs under limited direction of a manager, project/program manager, or more experienced architect. May act as a contributing specialist on large work activities or as a team leader for single or small work activities.

The Architect will apply experience and advanced knowledge of Architectural principles, theories, and concepts applicable to his/her discipline to accomplish assignments and to develop plans and techniques to improve programs and policies. Understands how his/her technical area interacts with or is affected by other disciplines, and considers the objectives of the major subdivision and LOB/SO when developing, integrating, and implementing solutions to diverse, complex problems. Typical assignments may include: design and integration; extensive research; and shared responsibility for project/program management.

The Architect will define, plan, and organize, assigned resources to accomplish organizational objectives. Allocates resources to accomplish small work-activities within established schedules.

Contacts are internal and external. May act as a key technical point of contact for assigned activities. Contributes to the preparation of management/technical reports or contractual documents, and may be called upon to communicate the overall results of a project or work activity to FAA management, the aviation and aerospace industries, and other external parties.

Will provide guidance to lower-level staff to solve difficult issues. Resolves all but unique technical problems without the intervention of management or other experienced professional(s). Identifies and informs management of problems that require their attention. Often develops and recommends techniques to address problem situations.

The Architectural work activities typically support and may be vital to the success of projects or activities of one or more organizational units. subdivisions. and LOBs/SOs. In some areas. the work may affect tile safety and security of customers.
