The role
As a HSE Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. As our Health, Safety and Environmental Engineer, you will be a member of the Commissioning Alliance playing an integral role responsible for ensuring commissioning programme adherence and compliance with applicable statuary health and safety legislative requirements and identifying non-compliances, whilst providing guidance on such matters.

Day-to-day, you'll be reporting to the Commissioning Health, Safety and Welling Lead, amongst providing advice and guidance for smooth operation, reporting and resolution of HSE issues. Moreover, ensuring the daily coordination of the Commissioning Health and Safety Management arrangements and monitoring between Commissioning Programme and Pre-Operations Industrial Safety team.

• Participate in maintaining and improving Health, Safety and Environmental performance in control of risks across the Commissioning programme.
• Review Commissioning RAMS and provide technical safety advice to Commissioning members to eliminate/reduce risks/hazards to people, plant and environment.
• Provide advice and support producing the relevant and appropriate Health and Safety performance reports, including identification of trends and early warnings of possible issues, recommending appropriate action.
• Establish and maintain Health and Safety risk profiles and undertake associated risk-based assessments, inspections and Health and Safety assurance activities.
• Support implements the of Commissioning H&S arrangements from the Health and Safety Plan during commissioning phase at HPC.

This role is full time, thirty-seven hours per week and is based on site at Hinkley Point C.

Essential experience of the HSE Engineer

• Strong communication skills with the ability to develop wide network and working relationships
• Health and Safety experience including within a large project environment.
• Strong focus on identifying risks/hazards and implications with provide mitigations using process.
• Able to produce high quality records and reports, providing safety assurance through communication of HSE data and information.
• Ability to engage with others on health and safety, environmental issues and provide practical advice on how technical issues should be addressed safely.

Qualifications for the HSE Engineer

• NEBOSH HSE Diploma or equivalent
• Chartered membership of IOSH or equivalent / working toward membership is desirable

A main contractor is recruiting a Site Engineer for a town improvement project in Yeovil. What you’ll be doing


- Develop commissioning documentation relating to the governance and oversight of commissioning testing and system validation activities.
- Contribute to the smooth running of project through the development and oversight of the governance processes required to enable the safe and controlled progress of commissioning.

The role

Day-to-day, you'll join a well-established and highly functioning team with a great support network. Managing a small team of Lifting Engineers with vast knowledge, whilst looking after certain sections, installing for the next five years with great progression opportunities.

• Planning team to ensure lifting activities (and associated prep work) are prioritised
• Creation of the Processes and Procedures to effectively control MEHA lifting activities and ensuring that the lifting equipment is thorough examined (including lifting accessories)
• Develop of lift plans in accordance with NNB Management of Lifting Operations Standard
• Selection of appropriate lifting accessories, including their method of attachment to the load, and any protection used to prevent damage
• Briefing all lifting/rigging supervision in the lifting operation to ensure that the safe system of work described in the lift plan is understood.

As our next Commissioning SAP (Senior Authorised Person) Engineer, you'll play a key role in ensuring the plant’s safety, protecting personnel, and coordinating activities with the Plant Handover Lead. You’ll oversee operations, ensuring every task aligns with Operational and Hazard Technical Specifications, Environmental and Chemistry Specifications, and Operating Procedures. What you will be doing…

In this role, you'll ensure that all activities strictly adhere to site license requirements, statutory regulations, and both company and local procedures, fully integrating safety rules into each task. You'll actively monitor and address substandard conditions via the Work Request system, driving continuous improvement. By routinely raising reports and evaluating Operational Experience (OPEX), you’ll foster a culture of organisational learning. Additionally, you'll mentor and train team members in specialised technical areas following a Systematic Approach to Training, while diligently reporting and tracking events that present challenges, supporting a proactive and safe operational environment. Additional responsibilities in this role include:


- Drive the delivery of department business plans, ensuring alignment with the project’s operational and safety goals.
- Safeguard the operational systems by adhering to and advancing the project plan’s safety protocols.
- Mentor, coach, and support the training and authorisation of new team members, fostering a culture of development and readiness.
- Ensure department preparedness to execute the full work scope as per the project plan.
- Demonstrate thorough expertise in both operational systems and the application of safety rules processes.
- Conduct regular reviews of Operating Procedures to ensure they remain effective, raising amendments as needed.
- Proactively address errors, seek assistance when necessary, and take accountability for decisions and actions, contributing to enhanced safety, reliability, and quality.

- Hands-on experience in executing successful large-scale project deliveries, showcasing a track record of effective planning, coordination, and achievement of project goals.
- Educated to GCSE/National Qualifications standards (or equivalent), reinforcing a comprehensive base in essential academic skills and knowledge.

As a Tool Room Engineer, you will be working in close collaboration with the Toolroom Manager, responsible for modifying Injection and Compression moulding tools. This role is focused on the machining of mouldings, ensuring tools are maintained, repaired, and modified to meet the company's exacting standards.

Key Responsibilities:
- Modify, repair, and maintain Injection and Compression moulding tools.
- Operate and manage various CNC and manual machining equipment in a Toolroom environment.
- Work closely with the Toolroom Manager to ensure that all tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to produce high-precision tooling components.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any tooling-related issues that may arise during production.
- Ensure all work complies with company safety standards and quality control processes.

Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Tool Maker, ideally within the Injection and Compression moulding sector.
- Proficiency with CNC and manual machining equipment.
- Strong knowledge of machining techniques and materials used in mould-making.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of manual dexterity.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Desirable Skills:
- Previous experience in a Toolroom or precision engineering environment.
- Knowledge of industry-standard health and safety regulations.

Please note - Working hours are Monday – Thursday 7.45am – 6pm with half an hour lunch break plus two 15-minute breaks.There would also be some overtime on Fridays.
