An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 mental health practitioner to work in the Home Treatment Team in Lancaster.

The Home Treatment Team cares for people who are experiencing acute episodes of mental illness or emotional distress. The service is an alternative to admission and offers intensive support to service users and their families in the community.

The service works closely with the in-patient wards to support early discharges and with other parts of the mental health services as well as third sector providers, so great communication skills are essential.

As a member of the team you would be working with a multi-disciplinary team consisting of Mental Health Nurses; Support Workers; Occupational Therapist; Psychologist and Consultant Psychiatrist.

You will provide a comprehensive assessment and triage service and, where necessary signposting or clear onward facilitation to a mental health pathway.

Your referrers will mostly include IRS (initial response service), Police and Acute Hospital colleagues, trust employed mental health practitioners working in GP service. Service users will be triaged collaboratively and a decision will be made in consultation with the referrer and with the use of a clinical tool, within the response time required.

This comprehensive, collaborative triage system will lead to comprehensive assessment clear onward facilitation of service users to the most appropriate care following assessment.

The post holder will provide evidence based mental health assessments and/or signposting to alternative service provision for people who present requiring a specialist urgent mental health assessment.

Home Treatment Team

You will be a member of a team who provides comprehensive assessment, co-ordination and the delivery of a high quality mental health service for service users of Home Treatment who in the absence of the team would require hospital admission.

You will help to co-ordinate the care of Home Treatment service users, and assist in promoting the use of evidence-based practice through the provision of clinical advice and support; acting as a role model; and providing education and training where appropriate.

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust are seeking to recruit a Trainee Clinical Coder to join our team of talented and experienced clinical coders. This is a permanent, full-time position which includes on the job training to become a qualified clinical coder.

The successful applicant will become a member of the Cross Bay Clinical Coding Team within the Trust. Working in a dynamic, digitally enabled environment, they will work to clinically code activity across all 3 sites including Furness General Hospital, Royal Lancaster Infirmary and Westmorland General Hospital. They will primarily be responsible for the timely and accurate coding of hospital activity but will also participate in mortality reviews, focused specialty training and improvement, mentoring of trainee coders and raising the profile of good quality clinically coded data within the organisation.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical and judgement skills, be proficient in the use of computers and technology and be able to autonomously manage their own workload. As part of the role, they will need to learn detailed medical terminology and human anatomy and have the ability to liaise with all levels of NHS staff. They must be willing to study for the Accredited Clinical Coder (ACC) qualification within an agreed period of time. This consists of two parts, a Practical examination and a Theory examination. Coders who attain this qualification are then upgraded to Band 5.

Clinically coded data is used to record hospital activity for financial accountability purposes. Diseases and other health information can be extracted, measured and monitored in order to inform service planning and development, with the ultimate aim of improving the health and health care of the users of the Trust’s services.

Clinical Coders are responsible for the accurate and timely recording of clinical data to support the Trust’s clinical and business requirements and for regional and National Health Service statistics.

The post holder will be required to work as a member of a team to provide an efficient clinical coding service working to established systems and procedures.

They will screen medical records, discharge summaries and other data sources to extract clinical information relevant to a patient’s episode of care and turn this into structured diagnostic and procedure data using International Classification of Diseases (ICD 10) and Office of the Population of Censuses and Surveys (OPCS 4) coding standards.

They will also communicate and liaise effectively with clinicians, nursing staff, other professionals and departments, both internal and external, across all specialties.

The successful candidate will need to hold the CIPP Diploma in Payroll Management and preferably be AAT qualified or hold an equivalent business or finance field such as Chartered Institute of Credit Management. Working for a leading independent insurance broker with a rich history spanning over 60 years. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Insurance Claims Handler to join their friendly and well established team. The successful candidate will manage a diverse range of claims predominantly within Property & Liability.

Key Responsibilities as an Insurance Claims Handler

- Claims Assessment: Review and assess insurance claims across various products to determine coverage and liability.
- Client Acknowledgment: Acknowledge all new claims to clients and insurers, keeping clients informed and pursuing the best outcome.
- Investigation: Investigate and gather evidence to support claims decisions.
- Negotiation: Negotiate with claimants, insurers, and other parties to reach fair settlements.
- Timely Handling: Ensure all claims are processed efficiently, adhering to FCA guidelines and company procedures.
- Record Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all claims activities.
- Diary Management: Manage an efficient diary system for claims follow-up.
- Mentorship: Mentor and provide guidance to junior claims handlers.
- Customer Service: Maintain a high level of customer service and adherence to exceptional care standards.
- Relationship Development: Build and maintain good working relationships with clients and insurers.
- Industry Awareness: Stay up-to-date with changes in the insurance and childcare industries.
- Reporting: Prepare claims reports for Account Executives on larger cases.
- Training: Conduct training and assessment exercises in line with the individual T&C scheme and identify areas for personal development.

Job Purpose

You will take responsibility for our finance teams and performance monitoring team developing the plans necessary to deliver excellent services to our residents. Main responsibilities

• Ensure commissioned services are high-quality, cost-effective, and people-centered with ongoing quality assurance.
• Lead Adult Social Care Finance, Performance, Direct Payments, and Complex Care teams to drive service improvements and align with public health strategies.
• Ensure compliance with Local Authority systems, including risk management, performance monitoring, and workforce planning.
• Manage multiple Council budgets and funding streams effectively.
• Represent the council in key meetings and with health sector partners to ensure collaborative service delivery.
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement to achieve positive outcomes for citizens.
• Provide leadership, fostering employee development, wellbeing, and proactive health management.
• Provide timely information to stakeholders to monitor performance and progress towards strategic goals.

Requirements for the role

• Must be able to attend the office 3 days per week (Flexibility on the days)
• Must be a Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIPFA)
• Must have significant experience within Adult Social care at a Senior Level
• Or similar significant NHS experience

The Initial Response Service (IRS) launched in the Bay in 2023 and since then it has consistently demonstrated itself to be an integral part of secondary mental health services; we’ve improved access to mental health services for individuals who need it, whilst reducing demands on care and treatment delivery services. In the most recent CQC report, the IRS was identified as a source of positive change in how mental health services are delivered in Lancashire and South Cumbria

Forget caseloads and case management. In the IRS your skills and expertise will be in assessing patients at the point of referral and identifying what service will best meet their needs moving forwards. The spectrum of mental health needs vary significantly; you will have the ability to offer advice and guidance for mild to moderate mental health issues and ways this can be managed and improved. Equally, you’ll have the ability respond to urgent referrals with more acute needs and higher risks in the community.

Your new role
As a Senior Purchase Ledger, your primary responsibilities will include controlling and setting up new approved suppliers, processing multi-currency invoices, and ensuring adherence to purchase credit and returns policies. You will monitor unfulfilled orders, liaise with internal purchasing representatives, and work closely with the 'Goods In' department to resolve discrepancies. Additionally, you will be responsible for monthly reviews of supplier account information, chasing invoices, and reconciling supplier statements. Your role will also involve managing payment runs via BACS, liaising with external stakeholders for international payments, and ensuring compliance with HMRC Duty charges. This is a full time role, working 37.5 hours per week on a flexible basis.

What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you will need to be a motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic. Experience of working in a high volume purchase ledger role previously is essential, with an analytical mindset. You should have a proven ability to implement rigorous controls and processes, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to multitask and meet deadlines. Proficiency in all major IT applications, including Microsoft Excel (vlookups and pivot tables), is essential.
