We are looking for a Specialty Doctor to join our General Medicine Team at the Royal Derby Hospital (University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust).

The post offers an exciting opportunity to train in the growing discipline of General Internal Medicine.

The post will commence with a fixed term Specialty Doctor contract in General Medicine for 12 months. Subject to satisfactory progress at the end of this first year the successful candidate will have the option to
progress to the Portfolio Programme which we would expect to require 3-5 years for completion in most cases. The contract will be reviewed annually and extended on a mutually agreed basis, based on
successful completion of required competencies at annual review



The contract is for 10 PAs per week (9 DCC and 1 SPA). Some SPA time is pre allocated (see section ‘EDUCATION AND TRAINING’). There is the option to add on a further 2 PA DCC if requested.

The post holder will be expected to prioritise and time-manage effectively according to the activity of the department and to utilise appropriately the available senior staff for advice. Whilst on duty the appointee will be clinically and professionally responsible for their patients. It will also be their duty to:

• Keep patients (and/or their carers if appropriate) informed about their condition;

• Involve patients (and/or their carers if appropriate) in decision making about their treatment;

• Maintain professional standards and obligations as set out from time to time by the General Medical Council (GMC) and comply in particular with the GMC’s guidance on ‘Good Medical Practice’ as amended or substituted from time to time;

Specific duties within the General Medicine Department include:

• Along with the General Medicine Consultants and junior colleagues provide care to patients.

• Assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients in the General Medicine Department.

• Taking the role of Team Leader in the management of patients with deteriorating illness with the consultants within the department.

• Supervision of Junior Medical Staff including clinical work, time keeping and documentation.

• Teaching of Junior Medical Staff and Medical Students in the clinical setting.

• Assist to maintain the flow of patients through the department.

• Liaise with the Nurse Team Leader in the management of the department.

Undertake other responsibilities by mutual agreement with the Consultants as part of continuing professional development and clinical governance.

The appointee will be responsible for teaching assessment as directed, contributing to graduate and continuing medical education activity locally, regionally and nationally as appropriate and to participate in clinical audit under local arrangements.

Applications are invited for this prestigious post, which offers advanced training and experience in all aspects of upper limb surgery. The post would be most suitable for a trainee with CCT or a year 6 orthopaedic trainee, with FRCS (Orth) or equivalent, Full GMC Registration with a licence to practise and with a special interest in knee surgery. The Upper Limb Fellow will be directly involved in the day to day care of the Trauma & Orthopaedic patients admitted to their firm. There is a day to day commitment to clinics & operating sessions with the opportunity to experience the full spectrum of upper limb surgery including primary elbow and shoulder replacements along with shoulder, elbow and wrist arthroscopies. This is a 12 Month Fixed Term/Secondment Role



The End User Support Senior Engineer is an on site role andwill assist the Team Leader with the development and support of the end user support team, providing desktop support across the trust, and all community sitesin line with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and in accordance with appropriate standards.



The post holder will be expected to deliver and maintain end user operational services through the timely resolution of incidents and requests and will act as a point of escalation for more complex end user support issues.



The Trust operates a 7-day per week operational service, and it is expected that the End user Support Team supports these hours. Hence, there is a requirement to work weekends and evenings with the existing IT Service Desk shift system.



The post holder will be expected to take part in an on-call scheme operated via a Rota system,beresponsiblefor the installation and support of IT equipment and softwarein line with established procedures, to support standard operations and the rollout of new projects within the Trust.

The post holder will manage and participate in the support of IT systems and projects having a detailed knowledge of systems and infrastructure required to diagnose and resolve complex integrated technical issues. Provide and receive complex or sensitive information and escalations from junior colleagues as part of the role, using technical abilities to ensure calls are resolved quickly or escalated to the appropriate team or specialist. This applies to both technical issues, complaints and staff disputes. Tocontinually make decisions about technical escalations, reacting to emerging technical situations and dealing with IT issues.Follow standard operating procedures for the progress and resolution of complex calls and provide feedback to customers and technical teams.Plan and organise day to day activities around managing work queues and priorities. There are likely to be times where planned work will need to be adjusted due to variable workload or higher priority calls coming in. University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a Consultant UGI Surgeon with a special interest in bariatric surgery.

Based at the Royal Derby Hospital the UGI department provides a full range of out-patient diagnostic services and inpatient elective operating services for benign, bariatric and malignant disease as well as outpatient clinics and day case sessions. The department provides a full service to patients with Upper GI cancers across Derby-Burton and Bariatric services for the East Midlands, serving Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.

There are currently 9 UGI consultants within the unit, supported by a team of junior doctors, clinical fellows and clinical nurse specialists.

The department has access to a 9 theatre inpatient suite and a 3 theatre Day Case facility. The inpatient theatre suite boasts two fully integrated laparoscopic theatres and the Trust offers Da Vinci Robotic cancer surgery in urology, colorectal, head and neck and UGI/HPB.

The post will be based at Royal Derby Hospital, delivering the full range of outpatient and inpatient services for UGI and bariatric patients, both on site and at outreach clinics. The post holder will also provide emergency general surgery for adults and paediatrics as part of a 1:9 consultant rota, and should have experience in managing general, UGI & paediatric emergencies, including cancer and bariatric emergencies.

We have an exciting opportunity to appoint to a Senior Clinical Fellow in ENT Surgery within University Hospitals of Derby and Burton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, for 6 months from February to August 2025.

The appointee will be actively involved in the running of the ENT unit including participating in ward rounds, theatre lists, day case lists and outpatient clinics, as well as providing support for the Consultants, SAS Doctors and junior medical team.

This post can be tailored according to the experience of the appointee. Possession of MRCS exam or equivalent is essential. Good computer and communication skills are a requirement. Weekly rotas will be flexible depending on the needs of the service.



Clinical components of role include supporting the ENT surgery team across all areas of the service including inpatient and day case elective theatre sessions, emergency operating, outpatient clinics, MDT and daily ward round.

Candidates should be eligible to work in the UK and hold full GMC Registration at the time of application.
