• Four bedded Obstetric Enhanced Care area and a two bedded assessment bay

Queens Hospital Burton has seven delivery rooms including one pool room and one bereavement suite.

Samuel Johnson Community Hospital is currently does not provide intrapartum care but runs as a community midwifery hub.

The Urology Department at Royal Derby Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a fixed-term Locally Employed Registrar CT2 starting on 15th January 2025 until 5th August 2025 with a possible extension to post. The department are looking for an enthusiastic experienced individual to join a forward thinking and proactive Urology team of 12 consultants, supporting in the delivery of a full range of urological services.

This post is designed to provide advanced experience in urological surgery. The successful appointee will be actively involved in supporting both emergency and elective urology activity including theatres, day case and outpatient clinics. The post holder will participate in the urology, trainee level on call rota. Whilst it is not a recognised training post, this post is well supervised and there are opportunities to learn and develop skills.

This post is to cover a specific period. The successful candidate must have completed all pre-employment checks and be available to commence 15th January 2025.

The successful candidate will have previous experience in the urology speciality, with the expectation that the post holder will undertake independent outpatient clinics, flexible cystoscopy sessions and act as first assistant in theatre. Advancing Practice across Derbyshire is growing at a considerable pace. The challenges of support for trainees at both enhanced and advanced Clinical Practice in UTCs is widely recognised. Enhanced level practice is an area which we are focussing on for the coming year as we are keen to ensure that there is a defined training structure and access to capability framework for colleagues working at this level of practice.

We are excited to offer this opportunity either on 12-month fixed term contract or secondment arrangement for a qualified and experienced ECP (enhanced community practitioner) to join our growing Multi-Professional Practice Education Team to work as a Practice Educator for UTC Enhanced Practitioners. The role is 37.5 hrs per week, worked across Mon - Fri. We will need successful applicants to be willing to work flexibly and to travel as our trainees are Derbyshire-wide. Geographical areas and restrictions can be discussed and negotiated within reason and both remote and virtual working ensures that travel is done only where necessary.

To be eligible for the role applicants must have completed both Advanced Physical Assessment and non-medical Prescriber training and have at least 2 years' experience in practice in an ECP (community) role.

These roles are currently advertised for a period of 12 months, however, there may be an opportunity to become permanent.



The role will involve meeting with individual trainees in their clinical setting to undertake the role of practice educator, support with commencement and progression with a portfolio of evidence of capability and providing 1:1 roving supervision sessions within their clinical setting to support with workplace-based assessments. The successful applicant will have a key role in enhancing this service delivery and helping to evaluate and expand it further.

The successful applicant will have the benefit of becoming part of the Multi-Professional Practice Education Team for peer support and networking, and training around supervision skills and requirements etc will be offered as part of induction process.

These sessions support continuing professional development and training for the range of clinicians working at and towards a level of Enhanced or Advanced clinical practice as described by NHSEngland. This will include clinical practitioners working in the four urgent treatment centres.

The educational component may involve direct work with patients and their carers either in person or remotely, however the main focus is to support the clinical practice and development of DCHS clinicians and so supervision, mentoring, support and education will form the bulk of the role. This may be in providing 1-1 support shadowing a trainee during their usual duties, undertaking Workplace Based Assessments (WPBAs) or reviewing patients together in a community ward, Urgent Treatment Centre, clinic or care home setting.

As a qualified ECP practice educator the post-holder may be asked to provide input for trainees undertaking non-medical prescribing and clinical assessment training modules and as part of this may be asked to take the role of Practice Supervisor or Clinical Mentor for particular trainees. Appropriate training and support for undertaking these roles will be provided as required.

In addition to 1-1 support for clinicians, post-holders may also be asked to facilitate small group ‘learning from practice’ groups to facilitate learning from and reflection on practice and other small group teaching groups around clinical skills and examination development. There is also the opportunity for larger group teaching sessions, currently delivered remotely, to be developed and delivered on topics of specific interest and expertise, contributing to a rolling programme of clinical education on clinical practice and non-medical prescribing.

It is expected that the team will mostly be self-managing whilst supported by the Clinical Director for Multi Professional Education who oversees job planning, workforce development and appraisal for the team. It is also hoped that the Practice Educators will participate in the development of a learning network of Practice Educators and Community Clinicians working across Derbyshire.

We are looking for a Specialty Doctor to join our General Medicine Team at the Royal Derby Hospital (University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust).

The post offers an exciting opportunity to train in the growing discipline of General Internal Medicine.

The post will commence with a fixed term Specialty Doctor contract in General Medicine for 12 months. Subject to satisfactory progress at the end of this first year the successful candidate will have the option to
progress to the Portfolio Programme which we would expect to require 3-5 years for completion in most cases. The contract will be reviewed annually and extended on a mutually agreed basis, based on
successful completion of required competencies at annual review



The contract is for 10 PAs per week (9 DCC and 1 SPA). Some SPA time is pre allocated (see section ‘EDUCATION AND TRAINING’). There is the option to add on a further 2 PA DCC if requested.

The post holder will be expected to prioritise and time-manage effectively according to the activity of the department and to utilise appropriately the available senior staff for advice. The Upper Limb Fellow will be directly involved in the day to day care of the Trauma & Orthopaedic patients admitted to their firm. There is a day to day commitment to clinics & operating sessions with the opportunity to experience the full spectrum of upper limb surgery including primary elbow and shoulder replacements along with shoulder, elbow and wrist arthroscopies. During each six month rotation you will work for either Mr Clark and Mr Cresswell (this also includes a day in the Pulvertaft Hand Unit) Mr Espag or Mr Tambe team
