Role purpose
Associate Consultants are responsible for conducting open-source intelligence (OSINT) collection and analysis to support complex client engagements. They will work on investigative due diligence, threat analysis, forensic investigation projects, as well as problem solving and strategic intelligence matters to support clients' M&A activity, market entry, dispute resolution efforts and others. The ideal candidate will be a critical thinker and inquisitive individual with a solid understanding of Australia’s business and political environment.
Role tasks and responsibilities
Intelligence collection, research and analysis
- Conduct OSINT, social media intelligence (SOCMINT), public record research and human intelligence to produce high-quality analysis that addresses clients’ key questions.
- Research new sources of information and develop capabilities to collect and analyse information in support of consulting engagements.
- Provide guidance to Consultants on the availability and cost of public record information and advise on the optimum research approach, including social media research.
Consulting responsibilities
- Work closely with Consultants to produce high-quality, client-ready reports (typically 10-30 pages in length) that help clients to make decisions.
- Ensure that all reports are delivered according to agreed deadlines and within budget.
Marketing and business development
- Conduct research and prepare material (e.g. client or sector briefs) to support marketing and business development activities.
Essential
- Passion for OSINT, SOCMINT and internet research.
- High levels of attention to detail.
- Excellent investigative research and writing skills.
- Ability to summarise, process and communicate information clearly.
- Ability to think critically and unravel complex information.
- Keen interest in political and business trends across Australia-Pacific.
- Understanding of common commercial transactions: IPOs, M&A, JVs etc.
- Familiarity with company annual reports and other company documents.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Preferred
- Experience in an OSINT, protective intelligence or analyst role in either the public or private sector, OR experience producing investigative due diligence, enhanced due diligence or reputational due diligence reports.
- Experience in conducting social media research and using related tools.
- Experience in data analysis and data visualisation solutions.
- Experience in use of corporate, media and other specialist databases.
- Experience working within professional services.
