Job Summary

The Project Manager ensures that Flowserve meets our commitments on complex aftermarket orders related to repairs, upgrades, hydraulic rerates, and maintenance of rotating pumps and equipment for our customers in industries such as oil, chemical, pharmaceutical, municipal water/wastewater, and power. These complex projects involve technical challenges, substantial risk, and multiple service centers, and they may cross state and international boundaries. The position reports to the Services & Solutions Manager of Project Management, North America and the position is located in Rancho Dominguez, CA facility.

Responsibilities

• Leads kickoff meetings and phase gate meetings to coalesce strategies into actions. Identifies stakeholders and analyzes their expectations. 

• Proficient at contract review documentation and make sure it reflects what has been negotiated and ensure successful execution throughout the project lifecycle.

• Assists the project team to develop the scope of supply, to translate work breakdown structure into an activity-based schedule and to identify the critical path.  Helps the team to prepare key project management documents.

Role Responsibilities:

• Executes within a program management framework across multiple projects and initiatives aimed at transforming the technology ecosystem supporting R&D and PD

• Accountable for the successful implementation of key technology programs and projects, delivering iterative value and improvements

• Develops and execute a strong program management and scrum discipline on the team to strengthen overall program operations, relationships, and knowledge of best practices in DTI including financial management.

• Partners with cross-functional leaders to identify process interdependencies and solutions

• Establishes success metrics and leading indicators to track program progress and effectiveness

• Reinforces proper decision-making according to Amgen’s decision framework

• Monitors and communicates progress and adherence to timelines; facilitates resource planning, financial planning and tracking, and capacity assessments

• Provides technical & program/project leadership to the project teams in all project phases (design, delivery, startup, commissioning, validation and operational support) as well as oversight to ensure the program/project budget, schedule and staffing is commensurate to enabling the business objectives

• Develops compelling business and technology investment proposals to advance business priorities

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree

OR

Master’s degree and 3 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Associate’s degree and 10 years of Information Systems experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Information Systems experience

And

Previous experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications:

• 4-6 years project management experience leading multi-million dollar, multi-functional and highly technical programs, including financial management, crossing multiple geographies, preferably in Biopharma industry supporting a research and development organization

• Background in health and/or life sciences and Information Technology

• Scrum master certification - Experience with Agile Scrum and other iterative frameworks

• PMP certification

• Experience operating in a GxP validated environment

• Experience working with senior executive leadership across essential functions and information systems

• Ability to work in a highly matrixed environment and nurture strong business partnerships

• Management of globally dispersed teams

• Strong financial and planning skills combined with knowledge of related Amgen processes

• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deal with constantly evolving priorities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support client’s internal business decision due diligence: this includes data gathering, analysis, synthesizing inputs from multiple parties, and developing a storyline and deliverable that result in stakeholder consensus and approval. Carefully document potential business implications, risk and timeline impacts for key strategic initiatives. Experience working through supply and demand models is a plus.
• Responsible for providing analytical support, information research, report writing and documentation gathering to support real estate strategy workstreams across the client’s dynamic portfolio.
• Support the client’s operational priorities and real estate strategy through cross-functional partnership. Work with team members to perform research, quantitative and qualitative analyses, and then organize data into logical communications and client presentation materials.
• Support client’s internal capital and budget planning processes, as required.
• Coordinate with account team and client stakeholders to ensure tracking and reporting of client(s) deliverables. Provide cross-functional partnership with transactional teams and client stakeholders.
• Ability to support a large volume of data analysis simultaneously with high level proficiency in excel.
• A comfort with financial analysis is desirable, but not required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• Support ad-hoc strategic projects as client needs arise.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's degree required in related field.
• 8+ years of related experience in management consulting, finance, real estate strategy or equivalent experience in an innovative environment
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and data modeling experience to digest, summarize and present large data sets for executive level presentations. 
• Experience in a client-serving environment and/or working on dynamic teams is a plus. 
• Experience proactively managing multiple commitments and tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines while exercising attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy and quality.
