As a Media Relations Manager within our Press Office Team, you will be responsible for protecting, building and enhancing the reputation of National Highways by providing strategic media handling advice to the organisation, liaising with the media, and providing a proactive and reactive media relations service in line with the communications strategy.

You should be an experienced communicator with a strong news sense and excellent judgement.

This role will be based from our Bedford or Guildford office - (40% office based) Some travel will also be required occasionally for team meetings or to facilitate media events within the region.

What you'll be leading on

• Delivering high quality written material, media briefings and communications activity to promote National Highways and enhance our reputation.
• Providing media handling advice, including developing and implementing communication plans to ensure that the most appropriate communication solutions and channels are being used.
• High profile and often complex issues which will require you to use your specialist expertise to achieve balanced and accurate coverage for National Highways.
• Responding to media enquiries and briefing spokespeople, maintaining effective forward planning, and delivering and managing media events/activities.
• Developing relationships with colleagues across the business and journalists, and coordinating activity with the Department for Transport and other external stakeholders.
• You will also participate in an out of hours duty rota to help ensure road users are informed about traffic conditions and to respond to media enquiries.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Social Media Intern will help curate the experience across Boston Medical Center’s campaigns, channels, and beyond to further increase awareness of our mission, values, and the impact we have on our patients. With a data-driven and creative approach, this role will support marketing initiatives by brainstorming and developing content to meet targeted goals and impact social media performance. Reporting to the Marketing Manager within the Marketing and Communications Department, the Social Media Intern is crucial in ensuring our content creation is consistently evolving to achieve our goals, reflect our culture, and provide value to our audience.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

• Draft copy, develop assets, and schedule posts for BMC social media accounts (TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram)
• Assist with community management across all social accounts
• Capture and edit photo and video content for social media posts
• Develop content for weekly social media series
• Contribute creative ideas for social media campaigns and content
• Participate in video and photography shoots on BMC’s campus
• Inform content strategy by pulling and analyzing metrics reports
• Stay up to date with social media trends and updates
• Support the team with various content/communication projects
• Manage stakeholder communication to curate engaging content that aligns with team goals

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

Undergraduate degree in business, communications, or design

EXPERIENCE:

1-2 years in social media management, marketing or creative development

TIME / PAY:

40 hours / week

$16.50 / hour

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• Strong writing
• Experience working with social media for a brand
• Experience with project management
• Experience with a social media scheduling tool (ie Sprout, Meltwater, Hootsuite, Sprinklr)
• An eye for photography
• Strong understanding of video editing
• Ability to design graphics
• Strong attention to detail and ability to effectively multitask
