Panera Bread is looking for an individual with a strong interest in finance or financial planning to serve as a member of its team responsible for planning, forecasting, and business analysis efforts. This role will be a key contributor to the forecasting and planning process for our bakery cafes, helping to project café revenues, expenses and profitability while also providing value-add reporting and analytics on business performance trends.

Duties & Responsibilities

Serve as part of the team which supports all of Panera’s key initiatives, analyzes ongoing business performance and produces financial plans and monthly, quarterly, annual and multi-year forecasts in one of the following areas:

• Participate in monthly and quarterly, as well as annual and multi-year financial forecasts, working with broader organization to develop key assumptions leveraging a variety of datasets.
• Deliver impactful reporting and analysis on business performance for a wide range of audiences, from café operators to executive team members.
• Leverage new and emerging tools and technology to drive reporting improvements for sales, profit and café operations, with the ability to provide meaningful insights at a regular cadence.
• Serve as a member of cross functional teams executing key company initiatives, providing reporting, analysis and business acumen in support of decision-making processes.
• Develop end-to-end financial analyses in support of strategic initiatives, providing regular updates to finance leadership.
• Adapt quickly to changing organizational and team priorities - be ready to quickly jump into intellectually challenging problems facing the broader organization.

Qualifications (Education & Experience)

• 2+ years of experience in either a corporate finance or planning role, an accounting firm, investment banking or consulting.
• Strong experience in an IT business partnership role including planning, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• High level of demonstrated quantitative and finance skills in educational and professional records.
• High level of proficiency in Excel and other analytical software, experience with data visualization and reporting tools a plus (PowerBI, Tableau, etc.)
• Familiarity with enterprise planning tools also a plus (Anaplan preferred)
• Ability to understand Panera’s business model through metrics and analysis that drive insight and action.
• Personal commitment to excellence and appetite for success
• Great sense of judgment and humility to ask for advice.

The Senior Manager, Product Strategy will work in partnership with the Senior Director, Product Strategy to drive the growth of Panera’s categories by ensuring that the product lines deliver irresistible craveability and value, while defining the Menu, Category, Daypart and Innovation activities to achieve the goals.

Job Summary

Drivers ensure that our freshly made-from-scratch dough products reach their assigned bakery cafes on a daily basis.  Drivers are responsible for loading and unloading rolling filled bakery cabinets utilizing reefer units and lift gates onto well-maintained, clean vehicles and into assigned bakery-cafes.  Drivers perform safe, efficient on time driving to ensure that bakery cafés have accurate and timely dough to begin the baking process.   Drivers utilize local routes during their assigned shifts without any required over the road trips to return home to their family and friends each and every morning.  Drivers must be willing to work flexible hours, including overnights and weekends based on business need.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of 6 months CDL-A tractor trailer driving experience is required
• Valid Class A CDL license is required; a doubles endorsement is preferred
• Ability to obtain a 1 year DOT medical card upon employment
• Ability to successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment driving, criminal and drug test
• Basic math skills
• Proven ability to work independently while performing a variety of production tasks
• High School Diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required
• Ability to work a variety of shifts including nights, weekends and holidays based on business need

Essential Physical Requirements

The Analyst, Product Strategy will work in partnership with the Senior Director, Product Strategy and Product Strategy team members to drive the growth of Panera’s categories by ensuring that the product lines deliver irresistible craveability and value, while participating in defining the Menu, Category, Daypart and Innovation activities to achieve the goals.  

Position is ideally based in Newton, MA.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Define Growth Strategies
  • Inform and execute clear strategies to drive growth for the business across respective areas of focus (guest segments, product categories, value offerings, dayparts and jobs to be done) that support increasing frequency of existing customers and attracting new customers.
  • Develop a deep understanding of competitive categories and a strategic positioning to gain market share
• Cross-functional Conductor
  • Highly effective cross-functional collaborator to bring strategies and corresponding projects to life across the organization. Serve as primary liaison between Product Strategy team and other key internal teams such as Catering + CPG.
  • A General Manager and guest first mentality to ensure we are developing business strategies that can be executed and delivered to the guest
• Go-to-Expert for Product Analysis and Understanding
  • Monitor product performance to uncover opportunities for performance improvement
  • Stay abreast of industry and competitor trends to proactively develop insights that could lead to new avenues of growth. Prepare and present relevant competitive analyses.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will be skilled in developing and executing plans across marketing, strategy and innovation. S/He should have 2+ years of prior job-related experience in restaurant category growth, CPG food or beverage brand management, or related strategic / management consulting. S/he will have experience contributing to growing and scaling a category or business. This individual enjoys strategic thinking and rolling up sleeves to execute and evaluate. S/he will have strong strategic, creative, and analytical skills and the ability to blend art and science.
