SENIOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

We currently have a vacancy for an aspiring Senior Structural Engineer to assist in managing one of our busy structural teams.

We are seeking a candidate to join the management and be part of our dynamic and growing team.

You will be responsible for aspects of design work from conception through to technical approval/completion on projects ranging from £0.5m to £20m. As well as assisting in the operation and running the structures department with further progression welcome for the right person.

This role is ideally suited to someone who has the following:

Excellent communication skills, in both written and spoken English
Minimum 8 years structural design experience in core materials; Concrete, Steel, Masonry, and Timber
MIStructE Chartered membership, or working towards and submission within 12 months
In our team you will be responsible for managing design quality and profitable delivery and will report to the Managing Director.

Working within a growing successful multi-disciplinary consultancy and operating across a matrix of projects, responsibilities may include:

Overall responsibility for delivery of projects
Preparation of fee proposals for Director authorisation
Delivery of scheme designs and input into scheme design reports
Delivery of detailed design including full tender and construction packages
Liaison with statutory authorities, architects, the design team, and contractors
Attendance at client, design & site meetings, site inspections and reporting
Resource and Management of engineers & technicians
Supporting the Managing Director with team targets
Contribute towards producing bids and tenders
Carrying out structural surveys of buildings and structures, providing advice on any issues that may arise
Analysing and reporting on structural defects and remediation if required
Co-ordinating and reviewing the production of high-quality written reports on a range of projects.
Overseeing engineering design
Compliance with the duties of Designer under the CDM regulations 2015.
Managing client expectations, feeding back any matters arising back to Directors.
Mentoring and developing members of the team
Preparation of detailed design calculations to British Standards, Eurocodes and relevant design guidance notes.
Day-to-day support to colleagues from other disciplines within the office
Other business development activities such as identifying opportunities and networking
In addition to having a confident, commercial, and professional outlook you will need to have:

MEng in structural engineering or a first degree in a related discipline
Chartered Membership or Associate Membership of the ICE or IStructE
Qualitative and quantitative experience in building structures.
Excellent problem-solving skills
Strong communication, analysis, technical design and drawing skills
A self-motivated team player with good people skills and experience of managing and mentoring a team.
Competent Designer with MasterSeries/Tekla experience
Ability to manage and resource the Structural Team with staff appraisals alongside training and development.

STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

We are seeking a Structural Engineer to join our dynamic and growing team. You will be responsible for aspects of design work from conception through to technical approval/completion on projects typically ranging from £0.5m to £20m.

Potential schemes you may be working on range from accommodation, retail developments, car showrooms, educational buildings, commercial offices and industrial and manufacturing buildings.

Working within a successful growing consultancy and operating across a matrix of projects, responsibilities may include:

Scheme designs and input into scheme design reports.
Delivery of detailed design including full tender and construction packages.
Liaison with statutory authorities, architects, the design team and contractors.
Attendance at client, design and site meetings, and site inspections and reporting.
In addition to having a confident, commercial and professional outlook you will need to have:

Eng in Civil or Structural Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Qualitative and quantitative experience in building structures.
Strong communication, analytical, technical design and drawing/sketching skills

Duties will include:

Carrying out structural surveys of buildings and structures, and providing advice on any issues that may arise. Analysing and reporting on structural defects and remediation if required.

With the assistance of a Technician, preparation of detailed design drawings and specifications for Tender and Construction purposes.
Visiting sites during the Construction phase to monitor progress and provide advice to Contractors.
Accomplished level of IT skills with comprehensive knowledge of MasterSeries.
Day-to-day support to colleagues within the office.

Senior Structural Engineer Chartered or near Chartered - London

Project Engineer - Cambridge

We are recruiting for the role of Project Engineer. Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years’ design experience post-graduation. An aspiration to achieve chartership status in the future would be desirable. The right candidate will be undertaking design and analysis of structures whilst working as part of a team of engineers and technicians to deliver projects from feasibility through to detailed design and construction. The candidate will be experienced in all principal sectors, particularly residential, commercial, education and industrial, having familiarity with all key forms of construction.

Key Skills:
Ability to design structures in all traditional materials (timber, steel, concrete & masonry).Ability to work on projects of various sizes from small scale residential to multi-storey frames of varying form of construction.Experienced in a range on different projects across all key sectors.

Excellent communication skills being comfortable with a client-facing role, attending design team and site meetings.

Excellent coordination skills to work with architects and other principal consultants to ensure the right design solution.

Work with technicians to ensure designs are clearly communicated and conveyed on the project drawings and be able to review and check drawings prior to final sign off by the senior project engineer.

Be proficient in the use of software packages including, but not necessarily limited to, TEDDS, Tekla Structural Designer and Fastrak.Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit. Experience with BIM Level 2 would be advantageous.

Senior Infrastructure Engineer – Cambridge

We are recruiting for the role of Senior Infrastructure Engineer. Candidates will have broad experience in highways and drainage infrastructure design. The right candidate will be a senior figure in our infrastructure team delivering projects from initial planning and feasibility through to detailed design and construction phases. The team is based in our Cambridge office but delivers projects for both Cambridge and London offices. The right candidate will have a proven track record with the following skillset as a minimum requirement:

Civils & Drainage, Ground modelling/cut and fill analysis.
External level design.
Preparation of surface water and SuDS drainage strategies for planning applications.
Private and adoptable drainage designs.
Foul and surface water flow and network analysis for gravity and pumped systems.
Implementation of SUDs designs.
Dialogue/negotiation with relevant third-party stakeholders.
Drainage consents, approvals and Section 104/106 agreements.
Preparation of flood risk assessments would be advantageous.

Highways

Looking at all aspects of different junction designs for private and local authority schemes.
Horizontal and vertical alignments design.
Pavement specification and design.
Sign specifications, white lining, swept path analysis and designing for deliveries.
Traffic calming schemes.
Designing for pedestrians including all types of cycleway and footway enhancements.
Preparation of Section 278/38 designs and agreements.

Key Skills:
Will have led infrastructure design on an extensive range of projects for both technical and non-technical clients.

Mentoring and development of other engineers, graduates and technicians on design concepts, engineering theories and best practice.Meeting with clients, key stakeholders and other professionals.

Fully conversant with all key UK drainage and highway design standards.

Competent use of AutoCAD, Microdrainage, AutoTrack, Civils 3D, PDS sign and line packages as well as Microsoft Office.

Be able to prepare a range of civil engineering reports including, but not limited to, drainage strategies, utility reports, technical notes and transport feasibility studies.

Preparation of fee proposals and project briefing notes.

You will be expected to be involved in business development, seeking opportunities to market the business and develop project opportunities.
