We are looking for an electrical engineer who will help us advance our electrical products, systems, and applications. On a daily basis, you’ll carry out various engineering tasks, such as performing calculations to ensure our systems meet the global safety standards and collaborating with technicians and computer programmers to solve emerging issues. You’ll also research on manufacturing processes and analyze data and trends to create new products. Ultimately, you will improve our company’s products and processes and contribute to its growth.

Responsibilities

Providing first response engineering support
We are currently looking to recruit an Multi Skilled Shift Engineer to join our Manchester Dairy within our Muller Milk & Ingredients business. This person will provide, safe front line reactive maintenance. Actively identify root cause and bring the equipment back in to service as quickly as possible as well as actively seeking and identifying cost effective improvements to site assets and equipment, improving efficiency and reliability.

Key responsibilities:

- To ensure effective handover of information across shift
- Uses PMS to support prioritisation and problem solving (RCFA)
- To diagnose faults and to test , repair and maintain Mechanical / Electrical equipment
- To observe, recognise and report on machinery or component defects or symptoms of impending failure and provide CMMS data
- Contact OEM's and other suppliers for technical support as and when required and expedite parts when not available on site
- Lead shift based problem solving where corrective actions aren't clear
- Working as ONE TEAM with First Line Response Technician
- Coaching of operators with asset care tasks
- Identify Improvements and implement within the OE framework
- Identify life cycle issues and raise these with possible recommendations
- Use and support simple 5WHY OE techniques / RCA techniques through to 100 year fix
- Use and support departmental 5s programmes for workshops and stores
- Continuous transfer of knowledge and best practice
Muller Responsibilities:

- Has an active role to play in continuously improving our business
- Encourage engineering based OE projects
- Support the Site roadmaps for Quality / H S / EMS / Engineering / Autonomous maintenance.

Key skills & experience:

- Recognised apprenticeship
- Minimum 5 years in maintenance

As an Estimator, youll work within an exciting, challenging and growing area of the SSE Enterprise business, supporting and undertaking the development of pricing and tendering for Electrical Distribution projects for a variety of connections ranging from residential to large industrial schemes. The primary focus of this role will be to provide bid and tendering support to the ICP Engineering Team on new DNO and IDNO adoptable electrical infrastructure projects, from LV through to 33kV at tender stage through to supporting the ICP Engineering Team on project cost variations throughout the Delivery stage.

The main responsibilities within this role will be;

- Working closely with the ICP Engineering Team and the SSE Procurement Teams you will develop project costs and bid returns based on the conceptual designs produced by the ICP Engineering Team.

- You will support in the management of design and build contract costs based on the tenders and bids you originally prepared for a project, supporting the relevant teams with contract cost inclusions and project variations.

- You will work closely with the ICP Team in order to identify improvements to processes and tools which will introduce positive enhancements to our business and your role whilst identifying key challenges and creative solutions to drive growth in the business.

- You will review and interpret electrical design drawings and schedules to populate bill of quantities for electrical plant and materials and associated labour costs for projects.

- Review of request for price documentation prepared by the Engineering Team and production of tender packages inclusive of supporting documentation for issue to the supply chain.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Background in Electrical Network estimating working within a DNO, IDNO or ICP environment, with considerable experience in a similar role.

- A basic understanding of the energy industry.

- Track record in delivering accurate project costings in a similar role, to agreed timescales.

- Knowledge and experience with relevant engineering legislation and industry good practice for adoptable DNO and IDNO electricity networks

- Excellent experience with Microsoft Office package

In order to support our planned growth, we have a fantastic opportunity for a Technical Director to join our Fire Engineering Department within our Building Safety Business Unit. This role could be based from several of our key locations and can be worked flexibly with a mix of office and home-based working and the option to adjust start/finish times.

Our Fire Engineering teams provide clients with cost-effective and bespoke solutions for the full range of fire safety design in different sectors.

What does the role involve?

You will be working across a variety of projects as part of a wider team based in the UK with the opportunity to collaborate with other Sweco business areas and on international projects. This role will suit somebody with significant design consultancy experience and posessing a recognised fire safety engineering qualification with a recognised track record in delivery of projects from design through to construction and completion.

As part of this role, you will sit within a wider technical excellence team where the focus is on the technical oversight and delivery of projects, albeit candidates with strong business acumen and line management are welcomed.

The main responsibilities of the role include:

Developing Fire Safety Strategies during Design and Construction stages.
Preparing technical engineering analysis using relevant guidance documents and methods i.e. prescriptive and performance based.
Carrying out site visits when required.
Attending internal and external meetings.
Preparing fee proposals.
Supporting the team in developing technical knowledge.
Overseeing and managing projects from inception to completion.
Liaising with clients on a daily basis.

To be successful in this role you’ll possess:

Experience working in a similar role with extensive experience in fire safety engineering.
A proven background in fire safety engineering with an excellent understanding of fire engineered solutions
Good problem solving/contingency planning skills with ability to find quick, innovative and practical solutions
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to adapt your style to suit difference audiences.
Excellent consultancy, communication and relationship management skills.
Experience of delivering across a multi-site organisation.
A bachelor's or master's degree in Fire Engineering.
Full membership with the IFE (Institution of Fire Engineers) and working towards or have achieved chartership status via IFE.

Your new role
For an experienced Civil (Infrastructure) Engineering Technician, you will be joining the Civils team at their Manchester office, where you will help deliver the technical design of some of the most exciting building projects in the world, across a variety of sectors including Education, Commercial, Residential, Retail and Industrial. As part of your new established team of expert engineers and technicians, working closely with colleagues of various disciplines and across a number of offices, you will deliver and oversee the preparation of detailed designs and detailing including highway (Private and Adopted), drainage, SuDS, levels and earthworks, external works, and associated civil engineering infrastructure. You will also develop 3D drawings and implement 3D coordination into our current design practices and guide more junior member of the team.

What you'll need to succeed
Having already been accredited with a relevant HNC/HND (or equivalent educational base for an Engineering Technician with 3 years' experience minimum) and gained practical experience of AutoCAD based design and drafting in a similar civil engineering design office based role, you are adept at planning and organising your workload and communicating effectively with engineering and AutoCAD specialists. You will have an accomplished level of IT skills including mandatory sound knowledge of AutoCAD, Civils 3D. In addition, experience of using civil engineering design software such as InfoDrainage, Revit & AutoTrack will be beneficial. You will also have proven experience of working to deadlines, and crucially – share Cundall's passion for creative, sustainable and intuitive design.
