An experience Domestic Gas Engineer is required in Edinburgh by a leading name in the boiler market to work across their region, carrying out Domestic Heating & Boiler repairs and servicing. Currently, Midlothian has 6 secondary schools, 32 primary schools (19 of which have nurseries) and 2 stand alone nursery schools. Our special school, Saltersgate, provides support for children with a range of physical, social, emotional, behavioural and learning difficulties. The schools range in size from our smallest primary school with around 20 children to our largest secondary with over 1200 pupils. We have a diverse range of school catchments, from rural to urban settings. We are fortunate to have a growing number of new build schools, with 15 of our primary schools and 1 secondary having been built within the last 10 years and several new builds planned.

The School of Molecular Sciences is seeking to appoint a Technician to manage technical aspects of the research on behalf of the Principal Investigator [PI], including providing specialist technical expertise in the relevant discipline and being responsible for the creation/set up and/or operation of all technical resources to aid the delivery of research objectives.

Specifically, the job requires expert knowledge of mammalian cell culture and molecular biology techniques, optimising and conducting second messenger and/or other cell-based pharmacological assays, as well as general laboratory organisation, and management tasks.
In addition, the postholder is expected to undertake a range of technical support activities in line with the College/School strategy.

What the job involves:
• Delivering testing of HR and Finance processes in our Oracle Fusion based People & Money system to ensure the process are fit for purpose and ready for implementation.
• To deliver this you will analyse requirements, identify tests required and plan, design, script and execute tests.
• You will identify and document defects and communicate these to key stakeholders.
• You will work with key stakeholders to ensure effective user acceptance testing.

Successful candidates will be able to work on and off campus to suit their role, work commitments and personal circumstances. We expect candidates to spend a minimum of 1 day per week in our office in central Edinburgh.

A bit about you:
• Successful candidates will have experience of software testing and be able to demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Communication skills are critical for this the role – colleagues should be able to communicate with a range of stakeholders: both inside the University and in external organisations; with technical colleagues and colleagues in business teams; and with colleagues at all levels of the University.
• Experience with Oracle Fusion or with other ERP systems is highly desirable as is experience of test and defect management tools including TestRail and JIRA.
