Major Duties:

• Performs specialized treatment of complex physical or mental illness.
• Incorporates complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis and treatment of veterans including making psychosocial and psychiatric diagnoses within approved clinical privileges or scope of practice.
• Offers consultation to colleagues and students on the psychosocial treatment of patients treated in specialty areas.

The Senior Social Worker is responsible for timely completion of all clinical charting and documentation required by the Medical Center, as appropriate. The incumbent should be capable of practicing at the advanced level and has specialized knowledge of Military Sexual Trauma. Incumbent should have at least one year in an area of specialized social work practice and licensed or hold certification in a state at the independent practice level. The Senior Social Worker's duties include, but are not limited to:

• Conduct psychosocial assessments to determine needs of Veterans and family members.
• Active participant in the treatment planning process with other disciplines and/or participate in discharge planning with other disciplines and will be responsible for ensuring that discharge plans are executed in a manner that is timely and appropriate.
• Provide individual, family and group psychotherapy as appropriate.
• Provide consultation/education to Veterans and families on available services for Military Sexual Trauma.
• Act as a consultant and provide relevant training on Military Sexual Trauma to other staff members in the facility.
• Collect and manage data about Veterans with Military Sexual Trauma veteran at facility.
• Ensure compliance at local facility with VA and national standards of care.
• Provide consultation/education to Veterans and families on community resources, advance directives and VA benefits.
• Act as a consultant to other team/staff members.

Major Duties:
Provides specialized evidence based substance abuse treatment services, utilizing various modes of delivery which includes: face to face and TMH delivery of individual and group CBT, Interpersonal, DBT, ME, OEF/OIF, Family Counseling, & Marital Therapy.

• Maintaining an up to date working knowledge of all accreditation standards, including those applicable to Joint Commission, OIG, the Office of Mental Health, and GARF. They would particularly be responsible for organizing the portion of the GARF survey related to SARRTP, which would help to maintain our good performance in reviews.
• Interviews veterans and their family members/significant others to establish facts about the veteran's situation, presenting problems and their causes, and the impact of such problems on the veteran's functioning and health as part of a comprehensive psychosocial assessment. Interprets and explains VA's treatment and benefit programs.
• Reviews all data, subjective and objective, and makes a clinical assessment identifying needs and strengths.
• Uses advanced clinical training, insight, and experience to interpret data and to identify viable treatment options.
• Assesses high risk factors, i.e. suicidality, acuity, and need for additional and or specialized services.
• Assesses at-risk factors and develops a preliminary disposition plan.
• Performs insightful assessment of serious and complicated cases involving psychiatric illnesses.
• Makes independent professional decisions and recommendations for treatment, which is most beneficial to the veteran.
• Develops psychosocial treatment plans in coordination with interdisciplinary team members and the veterans input
• Independently determines the appropriate course of treatment or intervention.

• Protects the civil rights of all individuals on VA controlled property;
• Performs various law enforcement and administrative functions throughout the department;
• Manages, supervises and coordinates the Police Service law enforcement activities for a designated assigned area;
• Serves as a watch commander or administrative lieutenant at the geographic area level;
• Conducts inspections of personnel, equipment and facilities to ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures;
• Establishes priorities to coordinate, plan, organize and complete work;
• Oversees human resource activities such as recruitment of vacancies; preparing, conducting and reviewing performance evaluations; takes disciplinary action; identifies and conducts specific training; approves and monitors leave requests;

• Makes independent decisions to take, direct and coordinate immediate steps to preserve life and property;
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
