Clinical Psychologist – 7 / 8a Development Post

Full-time, permanent

We are recruiting aClinical Psychologist to join the team working within inpatient services for people with Intellectual Disabilities at Brooklands Hospital.

The post is split across the Specialist Assessment and Treatment service for adults and the Adolescent Inpatient Service.

Psychologists within Intellectual Disability services are fully integrated within collaborative multi-disciplinary teams, whilst also working closely with other psychologists on service development projects, to deliver training and develop groups and other interventions. The contribution of psychological services is highly valued within the teams and service management, and the team are often involved in developing innovative solutions to service needs.

The post holder will have opportunity to use the whole range of their psychological skills and experience. This will include clinical input in the form of assessments, individual and group therapies, team formulation, reflective practice and supporting other staff to undertake psychological interventions. He/she will also be involved in providing training and supervision to others and contributing to and leading on service development projects and undertaking audit and research.



The SATS and CAMHS Psychological Services team are part of a wider Psychological Services team on the Brooklands site. The psychology department is a well-established and supportive service and successfulapplicants will receive support to further develop their skills and knowledge, through good quality supervision and training opportunities. The team have a range of clinical interests and expertise in a variety of different therapeutic models including CBT, DBT and Compassion Focussed approaches.



Positive Behavioural Support is a major part of our treatment philosophy. The service ethos is to ensure that effective, evidence based interventions are provided to people who present considerable risk to themselves or others, to ensure that they can return to a less restrictive environment in the community as soon as possible.

The service has strong links with local clinical psychology training courses and regularly provides placements for trainee clinical psychologists, supervision for research, and teaching on the local courses. There are also strong links with Community Learning Disability and Intensive Support teamsacross Coventry, Warwickshire and Solihull.







The post holder will have post qualification experience of working with adults and/or young people with Intellectual Disabilities in community or inpatient settings.

In the event that elements of the expected competencies to progress to 8a are not fully met, the role will remain as a band 7.

What you’ll be doing

Our work means that no two weeks are the same, and you will split your time between a desk and being out and about throughout the year. The number and variety of projects is challenging and rewarding. Typically, your work will include:

Attending site and carrying out tree surveys in accordance with BS5837 using tablet-based data capture software
Writing and collating tree related reports, schedules and plans including Tree Surveys, Impact Assessments (AIA) and Method Statements (AMS)
Working closely with multi-disciplinary colleagues, project teams and clients advising on tree related matters to solve problems and deliver successful project outcomes

Who we’re looking for

Ideally you will be able to offer some of the following:

· An awareness of BS5837:2012 ‘Trees in Relation to Design, Demolition and Construction to Construction – Recommendations’

· Good tree identification and an understanding of tree morphology and management

To provide full and comprehensive assistant medical secretarial cover to support the Clinicians and Medical Secretarial department. Ensure all routine clinical information and correspondence is up to date and available when required. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provide a comprehensive assistant secretarial service to clinicians and clinical teams in conjunction with the Senior Team Secretaries. To deputise for the Personal Medical Secretaries on an ad hoc basis, for annual and sick leave. Receive phone calls from patients, relatives and GPs.
