The incumbent is a qualified, experienced Medical Technologist who serves as the Ancillary Testing Coordinator for the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service. Ancillary testing is defined as laboratory testing or services within a VA Medical Center or its outreach functions at CBOCs that is performed outside the physical facilities of the main clinical laboratory. The incumbent develops and recommends policies and procedures for the procurement and service requirements for ancillary testing, including ensuring CLIA licenses are maintained in all sites. The incumbent serves as the technical advisor to all ancillary testing sites. The incumbent maintains adequate skills to work in Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Phlebotomy, Microbiology and logging in surgical/cytology specimens. Incumbent also supports the laboratory manager and serves as acting supervisor.

Functions include but are not limited to the following description:

• The ATC consults with the laboratory Director of clinical services to identify ancillary testing needs and to analyze emerging trends and technology and adopts appropriate methods, serving as a recognized technical expert to provide authoritative advice, training, troubleshooting, quality assessment and ancillary testing program consultation.
• The ATC develops technical bulletins, procedures, training materials and other program materials, ensuring accreditation and compliance with all regulatory agencies for patient testing, result reporting and proficiency testing including reports, monitors and continuous performance improvement initiatives.
• Acts as the technical supervisor for quality control, records control, proficiency testing, inspection and accreditation for ancillary testing on a hospital-wide basis and oversees the safe and accurate testing of outreach function patients in the clinic.
• Assesses data needed, designs data collection procedures, identifies quality assurance monitors and indicators, and reviews all data analyzed with the laboratory Director.
• Knowledge of the types of surveillance, ability to collect data necessary to monitor variables that affect quality of services, and skill in evaluation, interpreting and teaching others to use quality control procedures and implementing corrective actions.
• Knowledge of Federal, VHA and state laws, regulations, reference standards and medico legal responsibilities, and certifying and accrediting agency requirements in order to carry out the work in each ancillary testing site.
• Performs statistical analysis (variations, standard deviation, trend analysis) on quality control and quality assurance data collected to identify, document, and takes corrective action when needed.
• Serves as a member of the Ancillary Testing Committee. Implements and monitors protocols established in M-2, part VI, chapter 10, "Ancillary Testing", for quality control, quality assurance, proficiency testing, linearity, equipment maintenance, and user competency for all testing.
• Knowledge of laboratory information technology systems and inter-connectivity.
• Ensures that current mandatory hours of continuing education, training modules and additional education hours required by the facility are completed.
• In addition to assisting laboratory manager on various tasks, serves as first line acting supervisor.

There will be commitment to a minimum 2 general cardiology per week as well as a contribution to the general cardiology Specialty Registrar rota (full shift). The successful applicant will also be expected to support inpatient care under the supervision of the consultant team. An expanding research and clinical trials programme is in place in which the successful candidate will be expected to participate fully, with a protected session for research and audit in the timetable. A tailored training programme can be negotiated around this service provision. LEVELS OF RESPONSIBILITY This will depend upon prior experience and can be discussed. It is expected that the levels of responsibility will be that of ST6 or above, and the successful candidate will receive supervision from a named consultant with responsibility to develop the individuals training e-portfolio or equivalent. TEACHING AND RESEARCH/STUDY AND TRAINING Whilst the advertised post is a Trust Doctor, it is expected that the successful applicant will be able to access opportunities to attend weekly teaching and monthly educational departmental meetings. An expanding research and clinical trials programme is in place, in which the successful candidate will be expected to participate fully, with a protected session for research and audit in the timetable. INFORMATION ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT This is a 12-month fixed-term post for a Senior Clinical Fellow working within the Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery Department based at St Jamess University Hospital. The unit is a tertiary centre for referrals for oesophago-gastric cancer surgery as well as providing upper gastrointestinal and bariatric surgery services to Leeds. This post will be suitable for a trainee who is taking or who has just taken the UK CCST exams or international equivalent and will be for 12 months. Previous experience in Upper GI surgery is essential. Given the tertiary nature of much of the unit's work, a post-CCT or an experienced senior surgical trainee are likely to get the most benefit from the Fellowship. The unit comprises six surgeons. All six surgeons undertake oesophago-gastric cancer resections, bariatric surgery, anti-reflux surgery and general surgery (e.g laparoscopic cholecystectomy and hernia surgery). There is training in laparoscopic and open oesophagectomy and gastrectomy and a robotic program started in 2022. Cancer training is supplemented by broad training in Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery including bariatrics, anti-reflux and hiatal surgery. There is a JAG accredited endoscopy unit and training can be provided to the candidate depending on their level of experience and interests. MEDICAL STAFF IN THE DEPARTMENT The post-holder along with 2 other Speciality registrars will have access to 4.5 full day operating sessions per week in main theatre and day surgery lists, specialist multidisciplinary meetings, outpatient clinics and endoscopy lists. This post will be allocated to the Department of Upper Gastrointestinal and Minimally Invasive Surgery led by 5 Consultants. The unit has expertise in the management of oesophagogastric cancer, complex benign upper GI disease, minimally invasive surgery and obesity surgery.

We are working with an exciting and innovative client within the construction industry. Due to site expansion and restructure, they require a Maintenance Engineer at their Leeds site. The jobholder is responsible for the daily preventative maintenance and repair of heavy plant equipment to ensure efficient, continuous operation of the site. Working as part of the maintenance team as well as working closely with the Shift Supervisor, production teams and contractors, ensuring the day-to-day maintenance and repairs is completed effectively and safely, alongside continual improvements to the production plant. Developing a detailed understanding of the facility to continuously improve maintenance systems and ensure they work properly and that they comply with Health, Safety, Environment and Quality regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Responsible to personally carry out Daily, Weekly & Monthly preventative planned maintenance (PPM) activities, in line with the manual and manufacturer's instructions that are recorded in the site logs. * Responsible for the workshop area, and tracking/replenishing consumables.

* Responsible for the spares and sourcing suppliers to ensure spares are readily obtainable, with the longer lead-time critical spares held in stock, resulting in minimal plant downtime.

* Hands on guidance and training, to assist the teams with both preventative and reactive maintenance requirements associated with the plant and equipment at Leeds.

* Responsible for the continual operation of the plant, fault-finding and breakdown repairs.

* Take a proactive approach to providing improvements resulting in minimising downtime and optimising production.

* Flexible to cover staff shortages and call-outs to deal with breakdowns and operational problems, and to carry out other reasonable duties required by the site management.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

* At least 5 years' experience within a heavy industry (aggregates, concrete, mining or waste) maintenance environment with the ability to fault find and repair mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic issues.* Preferably CGLI, NVQ, BTEC or HND qualified.

* Knowledge and experience in but not limited to: - Conveyor belt systems - changing bearings and rollers, fitting skirts. Pan mixers - Replacing arms, tips and wear plates, gearbox repairs. Hydraulics - servicing hydraulic packs, replacing ram seals, valve and hose servicing /repair Pneumatics - Airline replacement, compressor servicing, valve replacement.

* Ability to carry out basic welding and fabrication repairs and improvements as required.

* Strong team worker with the ability to train and motivate others in the understanding of plant and machinery maintenance.

* Ability to review and improve PPM systems and processes within a growing business, and (in conjunction with the Site Manager and Senior Supervisor).

* Willingness to be innovative, work under their own initiative, with strong organisational skills, being able to plan, prioritise and organise various tasks at the same time.

* Must have a flexible approach to work and be contactable out of hours.

DESIRABLE SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

* Experience within an aggregates, concrete, mining or waste environment.

* Fabrication and welding experience.

The role requires commercial experience and knowledge, with a proactive approach to support commercial input, shape commercial strategy, and deliver hands on procurement ensuring value for money across the organisation and its programmes.

• Able toquantify and source contract management resources. Able to identify and choose contract management representatives to review tender pack and take part in the evaluations.
• Identifies the costs of existing or similar service provision and engages with suppliers in the marketplace in a planned way.
• Ensures that contract management mobilisation phase and supporting activities are carried out successfully.
• Applies the most appropriateevaluation strategyto a sourcing requirement taking into account the type of commodity being procured, complexity, value and strategic importance.

Some of the key skills and experience you'll bring to the role:
• Driven, highly motivated individual with extensive experience of managing a range of commercial lifecycle activities, ideally from within the public sector.
• Some experience relating to public sector procurement and contract management aligned with MCIPS, IACCM OR equivalent qualifications or experience.
• Excellent communication skills, ability to impart information effectively to internal and external stakeholders with varying degrees of technical knowledge and at all management levels.
• Ability to support the development and maintenance of effective relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders whilst ensuring the best commercial results.
• Experience of working with commercially sensitive and highly confidential information in accordance with all regulatory and any contractual obligations
• Experience of using a procurement and contract management software solution to support own workload and facilitate accurate and reliable reporting.
• Experience supporting commercial projects, ensuring stakeholders are kept informed and communications are managed appropriately, including maintaining comprehensive audit trails.
• Ability to work with autonomy.
