At least 70% of the duty time will be spent in providing direct clinical care and advice for gastro-intestinal patients at the diagnostic stage of their care. This involves the utilisation of highly developed specialist knowledge, critical thinking and expert decision making skills in order to assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care for this cohort of patients.

1. Upon the location of abnormal pathology, undertake biopsies, photographs and complete pathology requests as required.
2. Take responsibility for interpreting the outcome of investigations undertaken on patients, arranging any further necessary diagnostic procedures or staging investigations.
3. Ensure specimens are sent to laboratory in a timely manner within agreed protocols.
4. Review histological results, taking responsibility for escalating any significantly abnormal pathology to the referring Clinician.
5. Refer to other professionals for more specialist support as appropriate, to ensure continuity and co-ordination of patient care along the patient pathway.

2. Be responsible for the validation of surveillance endoscopy waiting lists and initiation of bowel preparation in accordance with clinical guidance and GRS standards for clinical quality.
3. Maintain accurate and up-to-date confidential and timely patient records ensuring that all patient documentation (both written and electronic) is in line with agreed Trust Standards and NMC guidance.
4. Take responsibility for inputting clinical information for individual patient reports following examination to ensure National Endoscopy database is kept up to date.
5. Take responsibility for checking own data on the JETs National Endoscopy database to record own clinical outcomes.

Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Meldreth, Nr Royston, Cambridgeshire/Hertfordshire border
Hourly Rate: £11.72 - £12.78 per hour
Annual Salary: £20,941.30 - £22,835.30 (Term-Time Only)
Contract: Permanent, 40 hours per week, term-time only

About the Role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be vital in supporting students aged 5-19, who have social, emotional struggles, profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and complex needs. Collaborating with our experienced teaching staff, you will offer academic and vocational support to help students thrive both educationally and personally. Whether in the classroom, during Bushcraft activities outdoors, or in life skills sessions, your contribution will have a meaningful impact.

In this role, you will provide essential support in a highly specialised learning environment, helping students to manage sensory overload, anxiety, and transitions while working towards their personal and educational goals. You'll be working both inside the classroom and within the wider community to create a positive and empowering environment for all learners.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide tailored support to students in their learning, development, and progress across all areas of the curriculum.
• Assist students with personal and educational goals, particularly those with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and complex needs.
• Promote an environment that values equality, diversity, and respect for all.
• Play a proactive role in fostering a positive learning environment, supporting students in developing confidence and independence.
• Participate in physical intervention and personal care routines as required.
• Collaborate with a dedicated team to ensure the best outcomes for students, focusing on their transition into adult life.

What skills and experience we're looking for

To be successful in this role you will need to be organised, have acute attention to detail and have the ability to multitask. The ideal candidate will have a good level of education and proven experience of working in a busy administrative/office management role, preferably having experience of working in a Sixth Form.
