About the role
The College of Science and Engineering is home to the academic schools of: Chemistry, Computing and Mathematical Sciences, Engineering, Geology & Geography, and Physics & Astronomy. Teaching and research activity in these schools are supported by College Technicians covering a range of specialist areas. One such area is manufacturing of unique devices and prototypes, and leading the education of students in manufacturing techniques and Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) principles.
The role requires the full delivery of technical skills training/teaching of undergraduate students to carry out rapid prototyping, turning and milling operations, bench skills and fitting techniques. You will also support undergraduate and postgraduate project manufacture within the School of Engineering, to include extra-curricular activities, such as Formula Student and students entering external prototyping competitions. Other responsibilities also include: supervising the Engineering Manufacture Workshop for task allocation; managing workflow; providing advice and guidance; best practice procedures; and ensuring manufacture request deadlines are met.

What will you deliver?

• Maintain and develop Statutory/Mandatory compliant systems to support the delivery of a professional Hard Facilities Management function at the Queen Alexandra Hospital, to ensure compliance with the Contract, relevant legislation, regulations, and codes of practice.
• Coordinate and plan remedial repairs by contractors and site staff which require parts or services with lead times.

Reporting to the Regional Technical Manager this role will be responsible for the technical management, maintenance, and compliance with regulatory standards of assigned vessels within our contract. The position will be responsible for day-to-day management of delegated budgets and assigned vessel crews whilst liaising closely with the operations department to maximise vessel availability to our customers and facilitate contract delivery. Main accountabilities: Customers:



- Delivering maximum vessel availability to Contract Managers by optimising planned downtime in cooperation with Operations and timely rectification of vessel defects.
- Conducting and reporting of routine vessel inspections to ensure Safety and Material standards are maintained.

- Managing the technical aspects of vessel operations in alignment with Company SMS and ISM standards including document control and record keeping.

- Assessment, monitoring and timely rectification of vessel defects in alignment with Company policies.
- Fully utilising, and monitoring compliance with, the Companies planned maintenance and purchasing systems.
- Arrangement and control of Contractors, acting as Authorising Person as necessary on Company vessels.
- Planning, preparation, and management of vessel dry-docking and afloat repair periods, including drawing up of repair specifications suitable for tender and liaison with Class and Flag. Supervision may require on-site attendance at out of port repair facilities for prolonged periods from time to time.
- Assisting in the raising and progressing to delivery of goods and services requisitions in alignment with purchasing policy.
- Ensuring continuity of department service delivery in times of absence, by full and effective hand-over.
- Deputising for other Superintendents or the Technical Manager in times of absence and undertaking other tasks as may be delegated from time to time. Ensuring Contract and Operations Managers and DPA are kept appraised of any matter effecting safety or operational delivery.

The goal of the Navy Digital Hosting (Deployed) [NDH(D)] service is to introduce a new modern, flexible and scalable Navy Hosting IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service). NDH(D) will help to address obsolescence by re-platforming and uplifting the current landscape to a new, modern and consolidated service offering.
