- Planning, preparation, and management of vessel dry-docking and afloat repair periods, including drawing up of repair specifications suitable for tender and liaison with Class and Flag. - Assisting in the raising and progressing to delivery of goods and services requisitions in alignment with purchasing policy.
- Ensuring continuity of department service delivery in times of absence, by full and effective hand-over.

Job Description Summary

We are actively recruiting candidates to participate in our 2024 On-site Summer Internship program. The Engineering Services Maintenance Mechanic Level provides support to the Engineering Services group by operating and performing daily checks and preventative maintenance on Direct and Indirect Maintenance equipment/systems. Individual assists higher level mechanics with repairs on Direct and Indirect Maintenance equipment/systems and performs all work in compliance with company and departmental SOPs. Individual will work in a fast-paced, safety-oriented, team environment and will perform tasks that are routine in nature where the ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required. Individual will maintain records to comply with Good Manufacturing Practice requirements to include detailed documentation of work performed in both electronic and written form. Individual demonstrates an understanding of Lonza Quality Management Systems.

Key responsibilities:

• PERFORMS ALL WORK SAFELY.
• Executes routine preventative maintenance work orders as assigned by Maintenance and Operations Supervisor/Lead Mechanic.
• Executes troubleshooting and repairs of Direct and Indirect Maintenance equipment and systems in the Portsmouth facility and maintains areas of responsibility in a state of inspection readiness at all times.
• Maintains records to comply with Good Manufacturing Practice requirements.
• Responsible for maintaining current training on all related aspects of job
• Perform other duties as assigned

Key requirements:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent; Some College or Trade School experience strongly preferred
• Experience in a maintenance related environment.
• Experience in Biotech or Pharmaceutical industry performing equipment maintenance activities preferred.
• Intermediate mechanical knowledge.
• A working knowledge of shop math, ability to read and write.
• Can utilize troubleshooting & hand tools.
• Ability to learn to read complex mechanical drawings.
• Basic computer skills are required.
• The ability to comprehend and apply Standard Operating Procedures on a continual basis in all facets of the job.

Coastal Partners provides a Coastal Risk Management Service to Havant Borough Council, Portsmouth City Council, Gosport Borough
Council, Fareham Borough Council and Chichester District Council that reduces the risks to people, and the developed and natural
environment from flooding and coastal erosion. This area includes three major harbours of significant environmental importance and
over 246km of coastline.



This year-long placement offers the opportunity to work and gain experience in a number of roles within the Service. Working
within the Major Projects Team, alongside engineers and construction management professionals, you will be involved in the
construction of our multimillion-pound projects at Southsea and around the north of Portsea Island. You will have a direct role in
the supervision on site where you’ll be undertaking checks of the contractor’s work, including use of total stations and GPS
surveying equipment to ensure everything has been built to specification. You will also have the chance to be involved in the
design phase of several projects across the Coastal Partners team, as well as providing technical advice and support to the wider
civil engineering functions within our partner authorities.



We are looking for suitable applicants, currently studying for a civil engineering related degree to undertake a 12-month
industrial placement. The successful candidate will be required to fulfil the requirements of an Engineering Technician and be
willing to travel to sites within the Partnership area. The post will commence in May/June 2024. Graduates and those who will
have completed their studies by the time the placement starts will not be considered for this position.
