Duties

1. As the Fitness Center Technical Advisor, plans, develops, organizes, manages, and oversees a diverse and comprehensive physical fitness and sports programs which include group exercise classes, self-directed fitness and sports programs, mcent1ve programs, special events, intramural, extramural, and varsity sports, and instructional programs
2. Develops, implements, monitors, and documents a comprehensive training program to ensure all staff members possess the necessary skills and knowledge for their position
3. Prepares APF and NAF budgets, which include the expenditures required to conduct the fitness and sports programs (Categories A and B) Develops, implements, monitors, and documents a comprehensive training program to ensure all staff members possess the necessary skills and knowledge for their position
4. Determines adequacy of facilities, identifies additional needs and recommends facility construction/alterations and renovation projects and monitors repair and maintenance of existing facilities and equipment
5. Plans and coordinates all aspects of recurring and non-recurring activities, special events and joint military and civilian community undertakings to make maximum use of facilities, services, and other resources

Performs a variety of duties and responsibilities in support of day-to-day operations of the Altus AFB Fitness Center. Serves as desk attendant ensuring only authorized patrons use the facility and equipment and adhere to Fitness Center Policy. Greets visitors, answers telephone, makes reservations for classes or use of the equipment and facilities, and provides information on scheduled events and classes. Provides assistance and basic instruction to patrons in the proper use of exercise machines and equipment. Issues sports equipment and facilities according to established standards and local fire and safety procedures. Inspects returned equipment noting damage. Inspects all equipment and facilities according to established standards and local fire and safety procedures. Reports damaged exercise equipment to supervisor. Conducts minor repairs when necessary. Conducts cleaning of machines daily as prescribed in Fitness Center checklists. Operates point of sale system; receives payment and issues change for services such as massage therapy and personal training. Prepares cashier reports and makes daily deposits to the central cashier. Performs opening and closing procedures of facilities IAW written guidelines. Assists in setting up facilities, grounds and equipment for programs and special functions. Launders towels and upholds DV towel program. Performs other duties as assigned. Serves as lead outside attendant with responsibility for assisting with the maintenance program for all sports and recreational facilities assigned to Fitness and Sports. Prepares sports and recreation facilities to specific guidelines in support of the intramural and varsity sports program. Inspects playing area and surface for any potential safety hazards and takes immediate measures to correct. Plans the year round turf maintenance program for outside facilities. Serves as section VCO, overseeing the routine and preventative maintenance program for all vehicles and equipment assigned to outside maintenance. Coordinates with Transportation Squadron to ensure that all scheduled maintenance on appropriated fund equipment is performed on time. Manages and oversees the routine maintenance and up keep of all outside maintenance equipment including but not limited to riding mowers, push mowers, tractors, weed-eaters, edgers, leave blowers and specialty turf maintenance equipment. Checks warranties prior to requesting or performing repairs. Assists the fitness maintenance staff with the repair and maintenance of fitness equipment and indoor sports facilities. Sets up and takes down equipment for sports programs and/or special events. Operate government motor vehicles to pick up and deliver supplies, materials and equipment to fitness and sports work stations. Works under the supervision of the Sports and Fitness Director who makes assignments by defining objectives, priorities and deadlines. Supervisor advises on new or unusual problems that arise and spot checks completed work to see that it meets accepted standards and customer satisfaction. Performs other related duties as assigned.
