Serco: Asylum Accommodation and Support Services Contract (AASC)

Here at Serco, we have an exciting opportunity for a Business Improvement Specialist who will be responsible for driving continuous improvement, transformational change and Operational Excellence activity for the Asylum Accommodation and Support Services Contract (AASC) based in Warrington and working across North West, Midlands and East of England.
AASC is a complex and critical contract and you will have the ability to work in a complex environment, to understand and articulate business requirements and priorities for transformation, assessing business readiness, designing new operating models, driving business adoption and providing specialist change management support options. You will support the Head of Business Support and Operational Excellence Governance board by providing guidance to those running their own projects, helping to remove barriers for business units to drive improvement and identifying and running your own business improvement initiatives and projects.
We are looking for a change professional, adept in both the people side of change (stakeholder management, change readiness etc) and the more technical elements (process design, resource modelling, MI reporting etc). You will have the attention to detail, the approachability, initiative and the people skills required to encourage and drive both business and personnel development across the organisation and contribute to the continuous improvement of human performance. Inspiring and leading Operational Excellence, Personal Development and Business Improvement activity across the AASC contract, you’ll also be responsible for supporting the business to achieve Operational Excellence maturity and to implement positive change throughout the organisation.
What you'll need to do this role
We need a confident facilitator who is experienced in eliciting information in a complex & highly specialised contract. You will have the ability to work in a small highly motivated team in a collaborative way and to share research, information, skills and insight with colleagues where you will also act as a positive influence across the business.
Having experience within a complex organisation and of complex data structures is required and a good understanding of process mapping is essential. You will also have experience and understanding of business improvement disciplines (LEAN, Six Sigma) and the ability to positively influence others in the desired direction to achieve identified outcomes.
It is desirable if you have some ability to design blended learning to include digital media, classroom based and e-learning content, making use of all available learning technologies and have the ability to recognise the appropriate style, level of detail and message for the audience with the ability to translate complex information in simple terms

You will need excellent communication skills, verbal and written, as you will be liaising, maintaining, and developing respectful relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders across the AASC contracts, and within wider Serco and you will need a full UK Driving Licence as travel is required between contracts where you will facilitate a holistic approach to improvement and projects, to include in-house solutions such as job-shadowing, action learning, 1-2-1’s, internal workshops.
CRB Clearance and/or Security Clearance at Baseline level (Serco Civil Government is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and all offers of employment are subject to security clearance checks and approval by the Home Office)
This is a challenging but exciting role and in addition to the above we are also looking for you to be:
- Trained or on the path to Green Belt accreditation
- Demonstrate abilities to successfully engage and influence
- Experience in presentation of communication
- Strong administration skills
