You’ll work in a fast- paced Contact Centre where you’ll have meaningful client-focused conversations. As an Inbound Financial Services Representative, you’ll be the first point of contact for clients calling in with questions or requests related to their banking needs. You’ll deepen relationships by understanding the client’s needs, and quickly resolving issues or problems. You’ll proactively identify opportunities to match clients with the right products and solutions that will enable their financial success. Products and solutions will include bank accounts, credit card products, secured investments, overdraft protection, bill payments, secured and unsecured credit products, and more. The Opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Tax Manager, the Tax Manager will be responsible for Canadian tax functions which include income and sales tax analysis and advisory services, tax risk management and audit defense (domestic, international, sales tax and non-resident withholding) for Abbott Canadian Affiliates.  The Tax Manager will also assist the Senior Tax Manager on special projects and collaborate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

What You’ll Be Doing

CIBC’s Innovation Banking Associate Development Program will prepare you for your duties as an Associate through a combination of both classroom & on the job training. The program is based in Chicago, IL encompassing 24 months which involves a mix of in-class training fundamentals of credit analysis/evaluation through both school-style instruction intermixed with case study-based exercises and on the job training.

You will begin working directly with the Innovation Banking Credit Solutions team based in Chicago, IL. During this next stage of the program, you will be learning the foundational skills needed to understand the unique business models of Innovation Banking clients by working alongside full-fledged Associates, Senior Associates, Relationship Managers, & Directors.

As an Associate in development, you will be involved in all aspects of working with Deal Teams across our 12 US offices including underwriting, reporting on client accounts. regular monitoring of portfolio loan accounts to ensure compliance with all agreed terms, analyzing due diligence results to validate lending eligibility, preparing screening memos, credit applications and other credit correspondence, analyzing borrowers’ financial condition and account status, and involvement with the negotiation of legal documentation/negotiations. This apprentice-like approach will develop the skills necessary for you to take on additional responsibilities & hone interests in the Deal Teams/offices you might join once the program has been completed.

After approximately two years in Chicago honing your credit skills, you will be eligible to join one of our Innovation Banking teams in a regional business development office (e.g.,  San Francisco, CA or Menlo Park, CA) as an Associate.  Such placement will be dependent on your performance and the business needs of our team.

How You’ll Succeed

• Credit Underwriting – Assist business developers and relationship managers to prepare strong financing proposals (structuring terms and conditions including security, covenants, and pricing) that properly reflect and compensate CIBC for assessed risk. Prepare draft recommendations on credit submissions and investment proposals to present to senior management and take part in answering any questions or addressing comments. Who You Are
