The PM&Rs Service staff physiatrist reports to the Chief, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Service (PM&RS). The staff Physiatrist works with a team of health care providers to establish a comprehensive rehabilitation program. Different patient populations requiring comprehensive rehabilitation programs include those with electromyography, amputations, spinal cord injury, stroke, traumatic brain injury, musculoskeletal and neuromuscular impairments, and those with chronic severe disabling pain syndromes.

- The Gastroenterologist will provide comprehensive care for patients who have illnesses within the scope of Gastroenterology, with an additional focus on patients with hepatitis. The Gastroenterology Staff Physician will be located in the Specialty Clinic at the Amarillo VA Medical Center in Amarillo, Texas.
- The Gastroenterology staff physician should be skilled in providing patient care and in coordinating the activities of other health care providers. • Reports to CT Supervisor, prioritizes exams in a manner to optimize scanner times while maintaining flexibility for emergency cases. Examples include required supporting documentation for each type of request (i.e., current/previous MRI or imaging studies for mammogram or neurosurgery requests, current lab values for CT scans, biopsy results for radiation oncology requests, etc.)
• Schedules non-count Non-VA care appointments using VistA scheduling options.
• Complies with mandatory training requirements for outpatient scheduling process.
• Completes the scheduling process by checking out patients once appointments have been completed.
• Collaborates with vendors to resolve issues related to these areas.
• Ensures accurate accounting of released records in accordance with Privacy regulations and requirements.
• Receives results for NVCC consults. Notates receipt on the appropriate consult and scans results into the patient's record, ensuring accuracy in attaching the results to the correct consult, etc.
• Assists providers in obtaining results when timely receipt is critical.
• Participates in meetings to identify and resolve issues that impact continuity of care for patients who are receiving Non-VA care.
• Identifies issues for process improvement and actively participates in service or center-level process improvement activities/teams.

The Cardiac Catheterization/Electrophysiology Laboratory (CCL) Registered Nurse (RN) executes position responsibilities that demonstrate expert leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex procedural care. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient transition through the continuum of patient care, patient and family education, patient self-management after discharge, and supporting factors that impact customer satisfaction. Collaborates in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of policies, procedures, and/or guidelines. The CCL RN delivers and manages the care of patients undergoing therapeutic and diagnostic cardiology procedures including both inpatients and outpatients. Assesses the patients physical and mental status prior to procedures, educates on procedural and pre/post-procedural care, and documents responses to interventions, findings, and reports any changes. Partners with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team to promote effective and safe transitions across the health care continuum, including the Veteran's goals of care.
The CCL RN provides peers with formal or informal constructive feedback for improvement. Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the development of health care professionals. Evaluates outcomes of evidence-based decisions and practice changes for individuals, groups, and populations. Responsible for the documented outcomes at the program or service level. The CCL RN may function in several roles to include, pre-procedure assessments, post procedural recovery, and assisting physicians during procedures. They maintain proficiency on the maintenance, cleaning, and preparation of cardiology specific equipment, as well as assist in the planning of end-of-life equipment replacement and future needs. They recognize changes in patient care situations and initiate appropriate emergency responses, as well as provide enduring education for common clinical adverse complications and responses. Adapts the daily schedule to maximize efficiency. May be assigned call, in which the CCL RN will follow all facility policies regarding response time.
