• Set objectives for and manage multiple projects and ongoing work activities within a division or subdivision.

• Oversee investigations and Operational Excellence initiatives, ensuring the use of tools to improve quality, cost, safety and cycle time.

• Engage with HR to ensure effective talent management culture and identify development opportunities for colleagues and prepare them for future promotional growth.

Position Summary

Provide technical process support in a cross-functional, collaborative, team environment for an electronics production operation which includes SMT and through-hole electronics assembly, conformal coating and encapsulation, final assembly, and test. Focus will be on production assembly operations downstream of the SMT PCB population process. This includes new product introduction and current product support. Work closely with design engineering, test engineering, production, and quality department personnel to ensure successful, timely product launches and conformance to specifications. Coordination and tracking of multiple projects are key to success.

Your primary duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Participate and contribute to DFM/DFA meetings with design engineering to optimize designs of electronic assemblies for manufacturability
• Define process for new product and process improvement for current product in accordance with IPC industry standards
• Review and approve engineering drawings
• Investigate and solve quality problems
• Select electronic components and select substitutes based on specifications
• Respond to engineering questions and review/approve files from PCB suppliers
• Create and revise documentation including process flow, PFMEA, control plans, detailed operator work instructions, etc.
• Document, track and report out on project status
• Train production trainers on new products and processes
• Coordinate with purchasing, production, and quality personnel to accomplish design validation builds, process validation builds and start of production
• Facilitate production equipment selection, financial justification, and implementation

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability Requirements

• Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Must be able to read and interpret electronic schematic diagrams
• Must have a deep working knowledge of electrical theory and common electronic components and their functions
• Must understand manufacturing processes commonly used in the manufacture of electronic assemblies
• Must have a personal knowledge of IPC standards and their application to electronics manufacturing
• Mastery of L.S.S. and/or lean manufacturing principles and tools is a plus
• Proficiency in the use of PADS or similar PCB design software is a plus
• Proficient user of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.)
• Must have excellent, written and verbal communication skills in English

Education and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field required; electrical/electronics engineering degree is preferred
• 5+ years electrical/electronics, manufacturing engineering experience in a manufacturing facility with firsthand responsibility for new product introduction of electronic assemblies
• Experience in creation of documentation required for new product launch including Work Instructions, Process Flow, PFMEA, control plans, etc.
• Experience working in a collaborative team environment
• Experience working with potting and conformal coating is a plus
• Experience working in an ISO 9001 (or other related quality standard) compliant organization is strongly preferred
• LSS Green Belt certification is a plus

POSITION SUMMARY:

THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Manufacturing Operator, Packaging is responsible for operating, cleaning, and maintaining all production related equipment in the secondary packaging area.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Start up and shutdown all equipment according to established procedures or specifications

• Perform minor to major clearing of jams and downtime issues on the line

• Reports any abnormal equipment function or product problems to the Supervisor

• Safely operate of all equipment and promptly reports all incidents, injuries or safety hazards

• Maintain a clean and safe work area by utilizing all 5S cleaning and tools necessary to keep the area clean and clear of debris, yet neat and organized

• Maintain accurate and legible records such as Production Counts, Material Usage/Losses and properly document information on Batch Work orders as per the company procedures

• Adhere to the product isolation procedures, along with sampling and proper identification of product status

• Maintain adequate supply of materials to the equipment in operation, and also monitor supply usage and correct releases

• Troubleshoots and make the necessary adjustments as required to maintain quality performance

• Ensure both products and materials are of proper identification, correct codes and expiration dates

• Complete inspection of products and materials to ensure acceptable visual and physical appearance

• This position is accountable for all rules and regulations applicable to the manufacture of both pediatric and nutritional products.

• This position is accountable for complying with applicable FDA, GMP, OSHA and Abbott regulations, policies, procedures or guidelines

PAY AND SHIFT:

The hourly pay for this position is $21.00/hour USD plus a 5% shift differential. This is a night shift position (6:30pm - 7:00am EST) with a 12-hour rotational shift schedule.

SCHEDULE EXAMPLE:

WEEK 1:

WORK: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday: 6:30PM - 7:00AM EST.

DAYS OFF: Wednesday AND Thursday.

WEEK 2:

WORK: Wednesday & Thursday: 6:30PM - 7:00AM EST.

DAYS OFF: Monday, Tuesday AND Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or GED

• A high level of attention to detail

• Ability to communicate pertinent line information to both production and support group personnel

• Ability to read and follow work order documents

• Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns

• Should possess a good mechanical aptitude and solid problem-solving skills

• Perform job tasks at different work times, on different work schedules and also in other departments dependent upon business needs. The operator will be required to work overtime as needed, and to provide line coverage during vacations, roving holidays and sick time to support their natural work team.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience in a plant production environment (preferably within drug, food or beverage manufacturing)

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a NIGHT SHIFT Production Maintenance Technician, you'll have the opportunity to maintain and improve plant mechanical systems and equipment in order to provide a high degree of safety, quality and productivity.  You will also be responsible for:

• Mechanical and machine component repair, mechanical fluid and utility systems troubleshooting; machine modifications and improvements; fabrication, machining, welding, installation or rearrangement of new or existing equipment; and total plant and facility maintenance.
• Use of precision tools and equipment to complete mechanical maintenance jobs. 
• Follow all plant and department procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), Quality and general plant safety rules. 
• Lead other employees including directing one or two other maintenance personnel on a job; filling in for the Crew leader as needed; and providing OJT for people new to the department. 
• Record and communicate shift activity in an organized manner. 
• Audit equipment and develop replacement part documents. 
• Be certified for tank entry and lockout/tag out and confined space entry procedures.
• Provide support to primary plant operations.  Total plant equipment coverage includes, but is not limited to:  packaging lines, processing, drying, filling, HVAC, warehouse, Agglomerator, backflow preventers, seamers, pumps, and cafeteria.  Assignments include:  responding to equipment emergencies, performing mechanical PMs during operation or during periods of scheduled downtime; equipment lubrication; design and fabrication of mechanical items in response to customers’ work order requests; communicating routinely with line personnel and supervision to maintain knowledge of the latest production schedule; communicating potential equipment problems to production and maintenance supervisors to allow scheduling of repairs; and looking for and implementing equipment and system improvements.
• Perform mechanical repairs to production equipment and plant utility systems.  This involves troubleshooting complex, high-speed filling and packaging machines; making machine adjustments to liquid line and powder seamers; timing mechanical systems such as rotary sterilizers or tray wrappers for proper operation; cutting of metal with a plasma cutter or torch; machining of parts on the lathe or mill for replacement or repair or worn parts.

PAY AND SHIFT

The hourly pay for this position is $30.00 per hour + 5% shift differential and shift is 6:30 pm to 6:30 am with rotating weekends.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• 3+ years of experience as an industrial or commercial Mechanic or the equivalent job experience or training is required. 
• Understanding of mechanical system, mechanical and spatial aptitude is necessary for this position.
• Good mathematical and written skills are required. 
• Ability to troubleshoot and determine the cause of improper machine operation, then make the necessary adjustments and repairs to return to proper operation. 
• Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and fluid systems including knowledge of proper lubrication procedures with oil and grease. 
• Attention to detail, good communication skills, and follow-up are very important in this position.
