Our client is a public sector organisation based in Southwest London who are looking for a Fire Safety Surveyor to join their team on an ongoing 3-month rolling contract basis. The job is to manage the organisation's residential assets to ensure all fire safety works are carried out to comply with all the latest fire and building regulations.

Your new role
As the Fire Safety Surveyor, you will:
Review fire/Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) issues highlighted within consultants' reports and compliance reviews both on site and desktop in conjunction with Compliance Officers.
Aiding with specification and procurement of remedial works to ensure compliance with fire, statutory and H&S regulations/Acts.
Advising and producing written reports on FRA /Fire issues generally.
The organisation deals with a variety of residential stock ranging from high rise blocks to care homes, giving you a wide remit of works to ensure all buildings are fully compliant.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful, it is essential that you have:
A qualification in fire safety/engineering.
Solid background and experience in fire risk assessing and inspection within the industry.
Excellent English literacy, report writing and communication skills.
Ability and experience of using varying Microsoft software packages.
If you have residential experience, it will be an advantage. However our client is happy to consider fully qualified Fire Safety experts from a varied background.

Your new role
Your new job working as a Senior Technician will require you to manage own workload and time to maximise efficiency and be able to manage a team by mentoring, training and guiding members of the team. You will report to the Binding Authority Director. Duties will include undertaking ongoing communication with colleagues to ensure timely and accurate production of documentation, chasing and monitoring premiums under terms of trade, diarising, tracking and chasing subjectivities, proposal forms and surveys. Other duties include developing and maintaining relationships with colleagues within the division and across the company, actively participating in regular team discussions and acting as a point of contact for junior members of the team. Further duties include processing and producing debit notes and closings as well as submitting to Bureaux, maintaining electronic filing systems, making and reconciling payments to Bureau under terms of trade, liaising with clients and Underwriters, dealing with complex issues and queries from brokers and clients. What you'll need to succeed
Your previous experience as a Senior Technician will contribute to your success in securing this role. You will have at least 5 years of insurance experience and proven and practical experience of applying competencies to a level outlined above. You will also need 5 GCSEs at C or 5 and above or A Levels, including Maths and English and Lloyd's Market LM1 and LM2. Desirably you will be working towards your ACII, but it is not essential.

Your new job working as a Binding Authority Senior Technician / Team Leader will be working within the Binding Authority team as part of the Broker Technical Services division providing a first-class service to all coverholders in all aspects of their insurance arrangements. This role will involve managing the day to day running of the team and provide support to management and the training to team members where required, assisting with and production and analysis of daily / weekly and monthly reports relating to KPI's within the team. Duties will also include creating and checking Binding Authority slip documentation for accuracy, processing third party bordereaux via internal processing systems to the bureau, handling and resolving client queries in relation to Slip and Premium issues. Other duties will include maintaining statistical information and electronic filing system is up to date and accurate, assisting with ad hoc duties, working as part of a team to test and implement new systems and effectively deal with escalation issues internally or externally.

Your previous experience handling Binding Authorities as a Senior Technician or a Team Leader in the London Insurance Market will contribute to your success. You will have good knowledge and understanding of Binding Authorities and or Delegated Authority contracts, Microsoft Office products and London Market information technology systems. You will have a willingness to develop your knowledge, attention to detail, an ability to make own judgement and high verbal and written communication skills.
