The appointee will be primarily responsible for delivery of technical services and support to the huge variety of research activity within the School, particularly related to the Institute of Energy Systems. The School’s mechanical workshops support teaching and research, as well as the activities of student innovation groups (including, FormulaStudent, HypED and endeavour). Equipment in the workshops includes: fibre laser cutter, hydraulic guillotine, CNC press brake, vertical panel saw, band saw, MIG and TIG plants, CNC plasma cutter, jigging tables, micro-TIG, handheld plasma cutter, conventional and CNC machines (lathes and mills) and printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing. The successful candidate should therefore demonstrate good H&S awareness and familiarity with H&S documentation (e.g., risk assessments, COSHH). Your role will be mobile, covering various sites within the Edinburgh area.
Carrying out PPM and reactive maintenance of the building fabric for all associated commercial buildings.

Main duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Responsible for carrying out all associated PPM and reactive maintenance.
• This could include electrical work on mechanical building service systems.
• Commercial heating and ventilating pipework systems.
• Service and maintain commercial heating and ventilating systems.
• Service and maintain air conditioning and heat pump systems.
• If not already qualified within Commercial Gas you will be given the opportunity to upskill within Commercial Gas.
• Happy to provide support to other trades within the mobile team as needed.
• Assist with all PPMs and reactive maintenance within set time frames so that the client's expectations are met.
• Ensure you always take a proactive approach when dealing with the client and ensure that any remedial/ issues are dealt with or escalated to senior management if necessary.
• Working within Health & Safety legislation at all times.

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:

• SVQ Level 3 Service Maintain and Commission Building Engineering Services or equivalent.
• If you hold Commercial gas tickets would be advantageous - however not essential.
• Experience of carrying out PPM and reactive maintenance.
• You will ideally have existing experience within a busy, FM environment.
• Full driving UK licence (6 points maximum).
• Happy to complete Disclosure Scotland.

Salary:

• From £32,000 - £40,000 depending on experience and qualifications held.
• Van & Fuel Card
• Mobile/PDA system.
• Holidays 32 days.
• Hours: Monday - Friday 8am - 4.30pm.

Your new role

Working within a multidisciplined REVIT team, you will be responsible for generating quality, accurate and detailed records of Building Services engineering project documentation, working within the requirements of the project execution plan.You will produce 2D layouts/ schematics using AutoCAD as well as 3D BIM/Revit models, generating 2D/ 3D/ layouts/ sections/ schematics, to include information modelling using Revit MEP; as well as clash detection using Navisworks.

• Setup drawings and make them ready for the team to work on
• Review project files for compliance with Standards/protocols
• Implement best practice procedures
• Assisting Engineers in drawing production
• Produce accurate 2D drawings, 3D models
• Coordinating drawing production in line with project requirements and in conjunction with other disciplines.
• Helping to technically deliver Revit projects in the role of Revit, CAD, and BIM coordination
• Creating clash detection reports and resolving issues with the support of the Engineering Team
• Family creation and input for developing standard details and procedures
• Able to meet tight deadlines and able to work alone or with a team

What you'll need to succeed

• Proficiency with software such as Revit, AutoCAD and Navisworks - examples of work will be requested at interview
• An understanding of the requirement for building services co-ordination - working to have knowledge of BS 1992, PAS 1192 and BS8541
• Previous experience working in a Building Services consultancy environment
• Familiar with assurance processes, codes of practice, standards and relevant sections of statutory documentation
• Eligible to pass criteria for security clearance and airside pass applications
• Positive outlook and self-motivated.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
