Your new role
Within your new role as an NDT Technician, you will be expected to complete RT, VT, MT & PT tests and carry out the inspection of products at various stages of the production process, with an emphasis on non-destructive testing (NDT).

Some of your more direct duties will include:

• Review part prints, procedures and work instructions to complete testing.
• Set up and perform non-destructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, life, or material characteristics: position parts between electrodes of magnetic testing equipment and activates switch to induce magnetic field that attracts and accumulates iron oxide particles at defective points.
• Coordinating with Quality Management on all applicable issues.
  
  

What you'll need to succeed
In order to succeed in this position, it is essential you have:

• Relevant qualifications in accordance with ISO9712
• CSWIP and/or PCN certifications
• UK driving licence
• Valid British passport

Your relevant experience for this role should also include:

• The ability to read and accurately interpret drawings/specifications.
• The ability to use Quality Instruments, i.e. Weld gauges, micrometres, steel rulers, etc.
• Exposure of working within a Manufacturing/Engineering environment
• Driving Continuous Improvement/Lean manufacturing

Your Role

We are seeking to appoint an Officer with highway experience. We are delivering highway planned maintenance services (structural and preventative maintenance) across the borough and the postholder will assist with the delivery of the programme. The role also includes responsibility for the delivery of highway drainage, car park maintenance schemes, small retaining wall and safety barrier repairs.

About You

Our ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual able to work in a fast paced and changing environment. You will be capable of manging a range of footway and carriageway maintenance schemes from patching to full reconstruction works.

You will have a working knowledge of GIS systems and highway maintenance materials and design specifications. You will be required to respond to enquiries and complaints in a timely manner, produce estimates using a bill of qualities and check accuracy of accounts.

System training and support will be provided.

The successful applicant will be required to carry out daily site visits using their own vehicle and will need the necessary insurance for this type of use. The Council has a scheme in place to reimburse employees who are required to use their vehicle for business purposes.

The post holder will have a recognised electrical based apprenticeship, including City and Guilds and NVQ level 3 qualifications. Additional experience of Building management systems, mechanical systems including steam raising and pressure systems will be a distinct advantage. There will be a requirement to be able to follow technical data and drawings, identify and locate faults on various systems and propose and deliver and effective solution. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills possessing the ability to work both as an individual using their own initiative and as part of a multi discipline team to deliver a safe and effective maintenance solution. There will be a requirement to work overtime; both rostered and ad-hoc; at short notice as required to meet the needs of the Trust and its healthcare environment. There will also be a need to form part of the on-call response team to assist our out of hours staff where required. The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and promote safeguarding by implementing the Trusts policies and procedures, acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately. If successful this vacancy will require a Standard DBS check at a cost of £21.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of £13.
