The Internal Communications Manager role will be a Hybrid opportunity to work remotely and in the New York Office. The right candidate will be located and easily able to travel to the New York Office on a short notice.
What You'll Do on a Typical Day:
Campaigns and consultancy
- Partner with key business areas to craft and deliver creative communications plans in support Amex GBT’s growth plan and strategic priorities.
- Support operational and change initiatives, advising on appropriate communication and engagement techniques.
- Proactively identify communications opportunities and develop strategic plans to support business areas.
- Develop processes, content and channels to support leaders with communicating and engaging their teams.
Content and channels
- Short or long-form. Write with style for a wide variety of channels, senior leaders and topics.
- Nurture a conscientious and authentic voice for all internal content.
- Manage a mix of internal communications channels and media and produce compelling multi-media content, including videos, podcasts, infographics. Proactively identify new channels and opportunities.
- Serve as part of an intranet editorial team passionate about news content and opportunities for engagement.
- Chip in to overall internal editorial calendar and advise internal clients on channels, timing and content.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
An expert internal communications professional who takes their work seriously but not themselves. As part of the broader global communications and public affairs team, you’ll play a key role in crafting and telling the Amex GBT story to our colleagues.
Working within our small global internal comms team, you are happy to follow your instinct to advise and encourage the best team in travel. You bring your passion and creative flare to the usual portfolio of internal communications subject areas, and we’ll work with you to align responsibilities to your experience, skills and interests, pathing the way for you to excel.
WHAT WE WOULD IDEALLY LIKE YOU TO HAVE:
- Understanding of the role of communications in employee engagement and organizational change and has experience supporting transformation programs.
- Great storytelling skills – with an ability to write well, quickly and accurately. Your writing captures hearts and minds and translates sophisticated ideas into engaging content that resonates with colleagues.
- Solid understanding of AP style with tenacious editing skills.
- Strong practical and technical knowledge of communication channels and content production including intranet, print, film, digital and social media.
- Excellent influencing skills as a trusted communications partner. Has the creativity and experience to give credible advice and encourage confidence.
- Experience of supporting executives and is not afraid to tell truth to power – respectfully and effectively.
- Willingness to work as part of a tight, successful global team where time zones don’t matter but staying in touch does. Experience in working in hybrid or fully remote teams useful.
- Experience and understanding of the complexities with communicating to colleagues in a global, matrixed organization.
- A curiosity about problem-solving and improving processes. You are not afraid to challenge the norm or a few rules.
- Great tech skills for a wide range of desktop apps, social media, content management systems and communication platforms.
- An obsession for metrics and understanding of linking communications plans to objectives.
- Superb attention to detail, producing work to the highest standards.
- Outstanding planning powers with a focus on delivering on commitments.
- Resilience and flexibility; you’re a self-starter who can handle an unclear brief.
Additional, Preferred Experience:
- Understanding of media relations, social media, public affairs and marketing.
- Experience of video production and graphic design processes.

United States - New York - Virtual Location
The US national annual base salary range for this position is from $70,000 to $140,000. The national range provided includes the base salary that GBT expects to pay for the role. Actual base salary will be based on factors including the scope and complexity of the role and the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and work location.
